The Ruin's Secrets

Antalina...

A country set in medieval times, bordering four other countries. Pansha, Gustora, Chilene and Tusalana. It is the second smallest next to Gustora, but its army is well-known far beyond the borders of the five countries. There are also many creatures here, including dragons, dwarves, nymphs and yes, even the odd unicorn.

But despite all its beauty, there is a horrible plot affot. King Corran's advisor, Temphas, has claimed that Gustora is waging war on Antalina. The king agrees to send over three quardrs of his army to there to fight. How he was convinced, nobody could say.

Admist it all, one of the fourteen generals of Antalina, General Torreal, has uncovered that it's much worse than war, and that Temphas isn't a friend. He's leading the soldiers into a deathtrap. Gustora and Pansha have a secret alliance, and Temphas is in on this alliance. He's leading the ment there to be either slaughtered or sold as slaves to the other two countries.

He goes to King Corran, but the man refuses to believe that his most trusted friend would ever betray him. Torreal realizes that it's up to him... and the women. But women are not allowed to join the army, if they so much as leave their villages without proper authorization, they can be put to death!


So Torreal has offered an incredible ammount of money to fifter of Antalina's best warriors. Or at least fifteen of the best who had stayed behind. He will train the women in secret, but the trainers are unaware of who they will be training. He has the women chosen, and is sent for them...

The Girls...

You wake up in the middle of what looks like the ruins of an old stone fortress. Torreal explain that he needs to train you to be warriors, and fast, though he won't tell you why. The only thing you're aware of is that there is something very evil afoot, and that you must go through with the training.

The Trainers...

You follow Torreal to his little camp, on his promises of large sums of money. You are shocked to find that he wants you to train women! The man must be out of his mind...

RULES:

Obviously all YWS rules apply

Swearing is allowed, but please try keep it to a minimum

Romance is allowed (in fact, I encourage it), but you know the drill there

No godmodding

Perfect characters are irritating and not allowed. Their weaknesses must be real and must affect the character in a fairly large way. Stubborness and temper alone are not a real weakness.

We do need trainers, or we will have no guys. Make one of each if you want, but please, try to keep it as even as possible.

Personality: pretty naive, but has a heart of gold, her bad side is hard to get on, but its a place you do not wanna be. She would do ANYTHING for the ones she loves. She can get snappy around guys, because not long ago one guy got a little to socail with her.

Likes: Alone time, quiet, good friends (when she learns to trust them), rain, animals, veggies!

Dislikes: Meat, giving up, traitors, being used, being tricked, people who demean others

Skills: is kind hearted, willing to give advice when needed, she's that one person anyone could go to with a secret... and with their anger, she has no problems with being called profanities, great with a sword, she was fast on her feet but for some odd reason she seems to be getting slower>.>

Weaknesses: She's weak physically, can be easily persuaded, she isn't very fast on her feet... anymore, and she won't admit it but she has low self esteem, and will spaz on sexist people.


Trainer/Trainee: Trainee, lol

Background: She grew up in a normal village, with a normal family. She never really fit in, she always wore mens clothes, and got teased for it. Eventually she sucked it up and wore dresses. She still got teased for liking manly stuff. So she learned to be alone. She enjoyed her alone time. She always had her horses which she spent hours everyday training and taking care of, until one day there was a fire andthe whole stable burnt down. She still has giant burn marks on her arms. Not lone after one man came and told her he 'understood her' and suduced her. Now she completely despises men. It takes a good first impression for her not to snap on guys. She doesn't know she's pregnant. She doesn't even remember who that guy was!

Other: I guess if someone wants to take a crack at being the guy then sure, why not! Oh and she is a strict vegitarian, she's so used to veggies and not meat that if she eats meat she gets sick.

Personality: He is a major flirt, but he his extremly sweet, he thinks women are equal to men, but cant keep himself from sticking up for them, even if they dont need it, his lover died of a strange disease, so it would be hard to get him to love again, but if you do he will do anything to defend who he loves. He won't love, but still flirts, weird eh?

Likes: Pretty girls, a good fight, quite, the night sky, having good relationships with co-workers

Dislikes: insults, sexism, seeing people hurt, being crowded, people seeing him cry

Skills: Fighting, hand at hand or swords, fast runner, skilled at silence and moving without being seen

Weaknesses: not one to think things through, cant swim, defends women even when they dont want/need it, if he feels there has been injustice he will right it, which usually means punching someone in the face

Background: He came from an upper class village, and was one of the rich boys whop would never have to work a day in his life. But he always wanted to be a warrior, but stayed because his love, sarah, was dying. After she died he tried to kill himself, but his friends stopped him. He ran away and trained to become a warrior, now here he is.

Name: Adrian Merrick.

Personality: Adrian is kind, sweet, loyal and seemingly shallow, but he's really fierce, especially in battle. He's a bit of a flirt and likes to seduce-something he's trying to keep from his General and the others. He's actually smart and knows when to keep quiet, dispite first impressions. In battle, Adrian is cold, calculating, menacing and without mercy.

Likes: Women, weapons, fighting, war, seduction, riding, the landscape of Antalina and it's King.

Dislikes: The enemy, death, drunks, traitors, men who are cruel to women and children, and just plain hellbent destruction.

Skills: Adrian is a fighter, so he's good with a sword, dagger and the bow & arrow. He can ride and he's fast on his feet, even with the limp.

Weaknesses: Adrian has a limp-caused by a sword to the right thigh. If you hit it, he'll fall.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainer.

Background: Adrian is the son of a Lord and a kitchenmaid. He was brought up in the castle and, after being pushed and prodded until he fought back, was adopted by his father and trained as a warrior from an early age. Lord Merrick's other children often harrassed Adrian as they grew up, causing him to become a little distant and to indudgle in certain pleasures. By 17, Adrian was known for a player and has at least two children, both around 4 years old. Since Adrian became part of the army when he turned 18, he's carved a nice little nook out for himself and is close to being promoted- if he behaves. It was the King's Advisor, Temphas who gave Adrian his limp. Purely in training, of course....

Name: Krista Ravenhall.

Age: 19.

Appearance (No Anime):

Personality: Krista appears the sweet, kind and innocent girl, but she's really fierce with a fiery temper. She doesn't like the fact that she can't be a warrior and has been trying to find a way to train apart from when she sercetly practices with her bow.

Likes: Her bow, cooking, riding, the landscaoe of of Antalina and it's people, King included.

Dislikes: Cruel people, people and animals in pain, death, destruction, war and the King's advisor-she's always thought he was suspicious...

Skills: She can use a bow and arrow, but as far as other weapons go, she's hopeless. Can cook, has basic survival skills and she can ride.

Weaknesses: Other than the bow & arrow, Krista can't fight. She's also completely lost when someone brings up the Noblemen's affairs and court politics. If she were to lose her necklace, she would panic.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainee.

Background: The youngest daughter of a peasant, Krista was never that immportant: Her parents wanted sons, not three daughters. She grew up cooking, cleaning and doing the usual peasant things. When she was a bit younger, she had a thing with Adrian but he moved on quickly. Now she's angry and wants to help but since she's a woman, it's not her choice.

Skills: strong, fast, good with blades, good at hand to hand, nimble.

Weaknesses: doesn't eat a lot, gets lightheaded, has a weak spot on the base of her neck, isn't one for strategy, a little conspicuous.

Trainer/Trainee: trainee.

Background: Ny grew up in the heart of the city. Her mother's an innkeeper, and put Ny to work as soon as she could. As a waitress in the tavern that was a part of the inn, Nyomi quickly learned how to break up fights, and defend herself. Her mom's a caring, loving woman who knows when to fight back- like Nyomi. Her father walked out on the family when Ny was seven. She was taught hard work and good reflexes, because working at the most popular inn and tavern in the city required that. The job fit her well- taking care of others and laughing with them. When she didn't have to work, she could be found at any of the tables or on the stairs, listening to the sailor and soldiers' tales and telling her own, as an innkeeper's daughter.

Personality: Arrogant, acerbic and often dismissive of others. His respect is hard to gain and easily lost, and let's not even talk about his trust. He's possessive, ambitious and very pragmatic. Dutiful, follows his own sense of honor, and while he may not be the nicest man around, he is rarely directly rude. Disdainful yes, but he'll keep on a veneer of courtesy. He is very attached to his possessions and likes his comfort. He is extremely stubborn and hates showing weakness/losing face, which has lead him more than once to conceal injuries that would have been better off treated. It's been said of him that his pride will be his downfall, and the way things are going, it's looking to be quite likely to be true.

Likes: Comfort, being right, fighting, his country, honor

Dislikes: Cowardice, showing weakness, losing, being alone

Skills: An excellent rider. Great swordsmanship and archery. Good for strategy and tactics, and, due to his appartnance to nobility, an old hand at navigating court politics.

Weaknesses: He's kind of worthless at wilderness survival. He can cope with a basic camp, but dump him in the middle of nowhere and he'll be absolutely lost. Only has a passing familiarity with weapons other than sword and bow.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainer

Background: Born to nobility, and raised according to it. As the second son he wasn't the direct heir, and so had to make his own place in the world. The army it was, as was customary. He distinguished himself and rose through the ranks rather fast, through a combination of skill and words carefully placed in the right ears. When the army moved out he was held back, having to deal with matters of succession following his brother's untimely death, and then was stuck back in the country. When Torreal approached him, it was more curiosity and a desire to do something that spurred him to go rather than the offer of money, which was not a worry. If he'd known what he was getting into, he might have reconsidered...

Up For Love: Sure. He's unlikely to make the first move, though.

Other: Dabbles in falconry, and has a certain affinity with animals.

Kay, now for the guy.

Name: Landyn Wood

Age: 19

Gender: male

Appearance (No Anime): brown hair, green eyes.

Personality: In battle? Brave, bold, sharp witted. Anywhere else? Kind, quiet, but knows when to act.

Likes: grass, wind, water, dirt, animals. (Very earthy guy.)

Dislikes: opposing soldiers, irrational cruelty to anyone or anything, intense heat, being poked with blunt objects, mushrooms.

Skills: good swordsman, strong, fast, can weld, knows how to treat wounds.

Weaknesses: Not great aim, if you hit his hip bone he's out, a touch clumsy, heavy sleeper, stubborn.

Trainer/Trainee: trainer

Background: Landyn grew up as a blacksmith until he was made into a soldier at age sixteen. He was the go-to guy for new soldiers, and a few old ones. He returned home as soon as he could, only to find it burned to the ground. In shock, he went back to the city and picked up where he left off, mourning his father and brothers, as his mom died in childbirth.

Name: Marcus Yule

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Appearance (No Anime): Average is a good word. Stands around 5'11, has medium length brown hair, brown eyes, with a medium build. He wears black leather armor as well as leather gloves. Marcus has a cross shaped scar across his left cheek.

Personality: Rash and short tempered. He's arrogant of his own skills and never backs down from a challenge. He's a tough guy to get a long with, but he's dutiful and loyal. When given a task by his lord he does it whether he likes it or not.

Likes: Fighting, drinking, himself.

Dislikes: Silence, whiners, drunks.

Skills: Has been trained with the spear. Can also use a staff as a substitute. Brawling.

Weaknesses: Likes to get drunk. Arrogant. Cocky. Likes to jump the gun. Gets into fights easily.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainer

Background: Never knew his parents. He grew up on the streets. He had to fight and steal to survive. When he was 13 he was caught stealing some bread in front of the Head Master of the Knights Academy. The Head Master, General Niles, was so impressed with the skill of his get away, that when Marcus was finally caught, he adopted the boy and sent him to the academy. Ever since Marcus has felt indebted to the General and has been a faithful, if not troublesome knight.

Other: General Niles is a good friend of General Torreal. (Ok?)

Name: Rave Brendenton

Personality: Rave is pretty quiet. She usually only speaks when spoken too, unless she's angry. She cares deeply for her friends, and would give her life to save them.

Likes: Animals (especially wolves) swordsmanship, vegatables, hunting, fighting, arguing, her older brother

Dislikes: Being told what to do, meat, her older brother

Skills: Ever since Rave was a little girl, her brother picked on her. Time and time again as they were growing up, he'd make her fight against him. For a short, small girl she packs quite a punch, and has one heck of a swing and slice with her sword She's fast, and quiet when she moves, which usually helps her sneak around her enemies.

Weaknesses: Rave cannot fight long-range to save her life. Her brother tried to teach her once, but she ended up hitting her father in the butt, and he was a good hundred yards from the target. When she was little, she was attacked by some kind of animal, and it tore the muscle out of the lower part of her right arm. It was repaired, but every now and then, the terrible pain comes back, and she can't fight any longer.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainee

Background: Rave, from the time she was three, her brother five, she was fighting with him. They were constantly trying to out-do each other, even in the farm chores around the house. When Rave was seven, and out picking berries in the forest, a big cat attacked her, ripping the muscle on her bone from the arm. That's when she found Dusk. The wolf, and his whole pack, came to her rescue. From then on, Dusk never left her side. She trained with the local militia, when their commander wasn't alone, and was always sparring with her brother. Now, she's been asked to join the military, so she's purdy hyped.

Appearance (No Anime):

Personality: He's very kind hearted and loyal towards the people he loves. He's very protective, sometimes too much, over his friends and family. Though when he's on the field, his demeanor changes completely. He's ruthless and often extremely harsh towards even his allies. He is a ver, very strict trainer and is often very cold while training and excersizing his warriors. Though this is for the best, to build character and keep them in line. He does care after all.

Likes: Training, defending his country, using the weak to complete great tasks (he's known to make excellent warriors out of those with physical disadvantages) a good debate, winning

Dislikes: People who won't stand up for themselves, people with low self-esteem, traitors, arrogance, losing

Skills: He is amazing at anything requiring a physical fight and is good mentally, too. He's trained for extremely long hours and for many years to get where he is. Amazing archer, but most acclaimed for his skills with a sword.

Weaknesses: He's very, very short-tempered. He also has problems remembering sometimes and often zones out when he's being talked to.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainer, General actually

Background: His mother was put to death when he was 12 years old for wandering out of the village without proper administration. This started his doubts, as well as his training. He has always thought the laws unfair towards women since his mother's death.

Other: He doesn't have his own pets, but he likes to spend time with the other's.

Gender: Female

Appearance (No Anime):

Personality: She's feisty and incredibly strong-willed and stubborn. She says what she wants, when she wants. She's incredibly determined and stubborn and doesn't take orders from those she has deemed 'unworthy' of giving them. She's independant and is a strict leader when need be. She is kind, however, and is very loyal to her friends. She will do anything to keep them safe, even at the extent of her own life. She's always been rebellious, and a thrill seeker and doesn't appear to be afraid of much (Though she is). She hides her emotions most of the time.

Likes: A challenge, debates, coming out on top, showing guys who's boss, a good fight, debates, animals, thunder storms, climbing, swimming, thrills, the general

Dislikes: The king, the laws, being told what to do (although she will listen),

Skills: She's vey quick on her feet as well as mentally. She's got skill with a blade as well as in archery. She's good at thinking on her feet and reading between the lines. She has a knack for being able to predict her opponent's next move... as well as read unsaid emotions. Very good with riddles.

Weaknesses: She can be quick to judge, and her judges are often harsh. She is also a victim of extreme headaches and fevers, which often render her unconscious for hours-even a couple days- at a time. They are getting rarer, but also stronger. Nobody seems to be able to cure them with anything.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainee

Background: She grew up in the captial and hated every second of it. Her mother died when she was 7 of unkown causes and her father avoided her for the most part. Her uncle noticed a spark of rebellion around then and took to training her in archery and swordsmanship in secrecy. Her uncle was a general, and when the king found out about her training, he was hanged. She was 17 at the time, and she's been hiding with her Auntie ever since. Her father thinks she's dead.

Other: She has a pet monkey named Koosa. Koosa's very mischevious and loves getting into things. She's also very fond of the general and Darcen.

Age: 20 (as of 3 days ago)

Gender: Male

Appearance (No Anime):

Personality: He has two sides to him. if he's not on the field, he's fun-loving and very sweet. He's got a good sense of humour and is very easy to get along with. He's constantly smiling and is easy to make laugh. Although on the field, he is fierce and often merciless. He's strict, all work and no play and gets quite harsh while training.

Likes: Any kind of physical challenge (except archery), debates, training others, leading, parties, late nights by the fire, Koosa

Dislikes: Koosa's master, following, those that are too stubborn, being pushed around

Skills: Incredible with a blade, or battle hammer or axe. He's incredibly strong and quick and sharp minded.

Weaknesses: Give him a bow and arrow or a throwing spear and he couldn't hit the side of a mountain. He doesn't have very good long-range aim at all.

Trainer/Trainee: Trainer

Background: His mother and father died in a fire when he was only 2. An older man named Thilon took him in and raised him as a son. He started training at only 10 years old, taking hours out of every day to practice. When he was 17, Thilon took ill and he stayed at hom to care for him for 7 months. Thilon's doing alright now, and Darcen is back to being a warrior.

Other: He has a pet Tinar (A very large, falcon-like bird with deep purple feathers. About hip-high on the largest men) named Floosh. Floosh fights in battle alongside his master.
