Winged Ones

Sorry I haven't posted. I got sick. Just my luck, huh? Well here it is...

Kaylee:

I wanted despretly to go down. I mentally willed them to be safe and come back. I then whispered "Come back. Please come back." Michel looked at me and gave me a small smile. I looked around. Anger washed over me and I dived down only to be pulled back up. "No Kaylee."

I pulled away and said "Yes. I'm not loosing them. I'm not going to let them die!"

I took in as much air as I could and dove under. I went deeper and deeper until my ears popped and my head began swimming. I pressed on a little further, using my wings to push on faster and stronger. The further I went the more pressure was put on me. Finally, I spotted a giant fishing net. Oh god. I thought when I saw the limp bodies inside and the humans around them.

I swam a little closer and pulled out my knife. One of the humans across from me pointed at me but before the human in front of me could react I stabbed my dagger into him. Blood flowed around his body and he started to fall. I looked over at Corbin and saw a mask on his face.

Grabbing the mask off of the human's face I placed it over mine just as a human came at me. Quickly pressing it to my face I was able to finally gasp air and take it in greedily. The scientist had something in his hand.

"I don't want to hurt you." His voice sounded to me. I wasn't sure if it would work but I spat "Let my family go and I won't kill you!" He shook his ehad and said "Now you see, I can't do that. Your kind aren't supposed to be alive. You aren't hum-" He never got to finish because I thrust my knife through him.

The only other bodies I saw had wings so I went to te net and began sawing at it with my dagger. After several minutes I made a big enought hole and pulled them both out of the tangles.

With effort I was able to drag them both through the water. I spotted someone. Someone with wings struggling. Ellie. I kicked over to her and took my mask off. I placed it on her face and I swear I heard her gasping for the air it gave her. She took one of them and we kicked up to the surface.

When I reached the air I coughed and sputtered and threw the body at Michel who reflexivly caught it. I thrashed around and took a minute to calm down. I shook my head vigorously to get the water out of them.

*Sorry. I have no idea who was down there and who wasn't so yeah. And just needed to move this along a little bit.*

~Ellie May~

I was so thankful for Kaylee. She put an air mask over my face, and I sucked in the air. I felt like I was going to pass out, but I forced myself to stay strong. Being weak now would only lead to death. We pushed back to the surface, bringing Blake and Corbin with us. Michel popped up after we did, gasping for the air. Anika smiled excitedly, reaching out for me. I took her, hugging her.

I thought you were dead. Such a strong mental connection we had now. I knew she had been scared for all of us, even when I was far away from her.

Thank you for the air, I thought to her. She smiled. At least she knew she helped one of us. I knew Blaise was looking at us, and I could tell he knew we had a connection.

Blake

I blinked my eyes open. Coughing up water, I sat up. Air! Fresh, untainted air! Something in the air mask they forced on me made me lose consciousness. Some sort of gas. Where did the scientists get it?

Scientists?!

"Guys," I said, still coughing. "Guys. The scientists! They're down there. They have a submarine. We have to get out of here!"

As usual, from that point Kaylee went into full leader mode. Which could be sometimes scary.

Kaylee:

"Everyone get into the air and to the land. There's a lot of blood down there and if they discover it while we're here we're going to have to do some serious fighting. I don't care how heavy your wings are or how light headed you are. Go."

I took to the air, the water weighed down my large wings. I shook some of it out but most of it still clung to me. Over the wind blowing in my face I shouted "Don't stop moving until we reach land!"

~Ellie May~

"Don't stop moving until we reach land," Kaylee commanded. I took to the sky, carrying Anika. My wings were soaked, making it hard to fly. I wasn't the only one, it seemed. The others stumbled too, trying to shake the water from their wings.

Soon, though, the water was out of my wings, and my clothes, and we were flying faster. I knew Anika wanted to fly on her own, but she seemed too tired to even think it to me. She was asleep in no time.

I was tired myself, and I didn't realize my wing was bleeding from the shark attack until Corbin pointed it out. It didn't hurt much, so I continued to fly. I caught some of Anika's dream. She was dreaming that we were all safe on the island, without the wolves, acting as a family.

I wondered if Michel was still mad at me. Only one way of finding out, and I didn't want to ask. So, I was left wondering.

Corbin~

I heard voices but I wasn't really listening, they were just and annoying buzz in the back round. Liquid was clogging up my throat and I unconsciously coughed. It was painful but I kept coughing. Suddenly my lungs were free and I gasped for air and became fully conscious. I gulped in huge breaths of air, taking it in as if I was drinking it. I never knew air could be so sweet. I opened my eyes and was blinded with the sudden light. Everything I saw was just a mass of shadows and bright lights. The sounds I heard were all jumbled and meshed together. Realizing that I was still in water, I started flailing around desperately. I was being held by something but they let go and let me fend for my self. My head went under water and I became fully awake. Braking to the top of the surface, I blinked a couple times. When my eyes finally became focused the first thing I saw was Ester. I smiled at her. She lunged at me and embraced me in a huge hug. She squeezed me so tight that I wondered if she would ever let go. I squeezed her back.

"Everyone in the air and to land. There's a lot of blood down there and if they discover it while we're here there's going to be some serious fighting. I don't care how heavy your wings are or how light headed you are. Go" Kaylee commanded.

I gave Ester a hopeless look that said I can't make it She looked me in the eye. "You have to try. Come on, I'll help you."

With her help I took to the air.

Ester Alice

Wrapping my shoulder around his waist, I nodded at him. His eyes fluttered slightly, water dribbled from his mouth. Flapping, I shot into the air, dragging Corbin after me. His wings stretched and caught the gusts, though he was to weak to do anything about it. Following after what I hoped was Blake, I shot through a cloud. The white gas blurring my vision.

"Are you okay?" I called down, sucking in a large gust of wind. Corbin nodded, exploding into a fit of cough's. I bit my lip nervously, let's hope he doesn't pass out.

~Ellie May~

I fought to keep my eyes open. If the humans didn't kill me, exhaustion would. Anika was fast asleep in my arms. She was exhausted from having to use her powers. I was exhausted from holding her. I was the farthest behind, and Blake and Michel were flying nearest me. I wanted to ask him, but kept myself silent. I'd have to talk to him when we were on land.

The huge land mass in front of us was growing as we got closer. We didn't want to be seen before we even landed, so we stayed in the clouds.

Blake

I flew beside Michel, and in front of Ellie. It was just then that I realized something: Elli didn't know Michel knew. About everything. I wish I had the power of mind-reading. What I wouldn't give to hear their thoughts on the situation, and on each other. We all definitely needed to have a long talk once we reached land.

Speaking of land, it was coming near, though quite slow. Or, rather, I was going to it, at a snail's pace. But I just couldn't do anything better; I could barely do that. Sucked away in my thoughts I had forgotten my flying symptoms, but now they were there, set on high.

Instead from being dead tired, aching everywhere, and being weighed down by my sopping wings, I only had the first two of those. My wings were as light as usual, though that didn't help when it came to endurance.

Plus, I had the normal ailments of flying: nausea, lack of concentration, and blurred vision and mind. I was just enough together to keep flying, and towards the land.

Blaise

Flying after all this seemed almost dream-like. We were in danger, but I didn't feel like we were. Ellie looked exhausted, and I offered to take Ani. She gladly accepted.

We kept flying until we found land that wasn't anywhere near there. We gladly stopped. Kaylee took charge again as we all looked to her for answers.

~Ellie May~

As soon as we landed, I fell to the ground in exhaustion. Kaylee began giving orders. She told me to do something, but it sounded far off. My eyes closed and I felt the heat wave over me. I found I couldn't open my eyes, so I fell into the darkness.

I heard someone calling my name, but it sounded far away. Someone splashed water on my face, and I sat up, wiping my face off and gasping. I had obviously passed out.

I'm going to California for a while. Now, they have wifi I think, but its a vacation and I really don't want to have to go on here every day. Just so you know.

Blaise

"Kaylee, if they don't get a long rest soon, more and more of this is going to start happening. We've been flying for hours straight," I said.

"We need a break," Blake agreed. "Ellie, are you alright?"

Ellie looked up at us, surprised. "Did I pass out?"

"Yeah," I said sympathetically.

We'll keep you in sunstar. I'm going on three vacations this summer and I would want you guys to do the same for me.

Kaylee:

I looked at their tired faces and imagined what mine must have looked like. Wiping back my still slightly wet hair I shook my head and said "We can't stop here. We need to hide. I don't think that people would take it to well if they saw us sitting on a beach."

A chorus of groans sounded and I looked around. Spotting a small but big enough forest about a mile away I pointed and said "There. That's our ticket. One mmore mile without being seen. That's it. Then you can sleep all day tomorrow."

Michel

I sighed. I needed to sleep not find a place to hide, but I stood back up. My legs shook. I was exhausted. That’s when I realized I hadn't slept for about two days. Just that made me almost fall. Elie grabbed me before I fell.

"Thanks." I whispered. Then to everyone else, "We better get started"

Sorry I havn't been posting . . . .

Blake

As soon I as landed I hit the ground on all fours. I wanted to curl up and die, but Kaylee forbid it. She said we had to find shelter; the woods. My body didn't want to wait that long though.

I choked back rising bile. Everything was distorted, as though seen through a kaleidascope. I tried to focus on the ground, but the millions of grains of sand on the beach zig-zagged, and twirled, and danced around, hurting my eyes. It was impossible to straighten out my vision with no sole thing to concentrate on.

I looked around and found a rock the size of my fist. In stillness it bounced around, but slowly it came towards normal looking.

I heard someone speak to me, but they mine as well have been chattering monkeys for all I understood, it was so distant.

Someone took my arm and placed it around their shoulders, helping me up. I looked over and, though it was blurred beyond recognition, I knew it was Blaise; the person had short, black hair, and Blaise was the only one with so dark hair.

Step by painful step, we trudged towards the woods. I didn't see us get there though, because sometime between leaving and entering the woods I passed out. When I woke up there was a canopy of leaves above me.
