:elephant: (I just had to, haha)

Hello! I'm Firefly (inspired by the amazing TV show!), I'm 19 and a college freshman. Though I'm not sure yet, the path my life has taken recently is steering me towards becoming a high school teacher--whether my subject of choice is history or English remains to be seen.

BUUUT enough about that! In the time I'm not suffering through school, I enjoy reading/writing (who doesn't on here, though, I mean really), playing fantasy-based RPGs (Perfect World/Dragon Age, anyone?), watching movies and TV (specifically the History Channel, NatGeo, HGTV, Syfy, Chiller, Discovery, etc), hanging out with friends and acting completely random. Sometimes I even enjoy pretending to be a counseling psychologist (that was my intended major, you know)!

I am in LOVE with science fiction, but I could never write it. What I do write, though, is mostly fantasy. It's my second literary love. I have jotted down a poem or two here and a lyric or three there, but I don't claim to specialize in that category (half the time I don't really rhyme, anyways).

Before I found YWS, I submitted my work on FictionPress (Engraved.in.Ink). While I am still trying to get used to the layout of this site, I will do my best to transfer some (if not, all) of my work to here!

Aand, this is all I can think of now! Oh, and another thing about me: I have the tendency to procrastinate. A lot (heh, I'm even doing it now!). But I guess most people on here do, too, from some of the forums I've read.

Anyway, feel free to PM anytime! I'd love to chat/get to know you. :D

Welcome, Firefly! It seems that we have a lot in common. Firefly happens to be one of my favorite TV shows, and I enjoy science fiction and fantasy too! Also, I love RPGs. A lot. I am currently working on a fantasy romance novel, because I am on a lovely dovey kick now. I hope that we will get to know each other better; I am interested to see what you write here. Here are the obligatory welcoming questions, also known as OWQs! (as stated by me)

What is your favorite book?

Favorite color?

Do you like the RPG, Final Fantasy? (It's my favorite)

Well, anyway, welcome. If you have any questions at all, PM me. Let me know when you post something. I will be sure to review it. Have fun!

 My favorite book, currently, is Wolfbreed by S.A. Swann (I prefer werewolves to vampires, haha). My "favorite" tends to change as I engross in more and more literature, but I'll be sure to let you know what's next on my Favorite's List!
 As for a color, my favorite is any and all shades of BLUE (though I do prefer the darker shades)!
 And as for Final Fantasy; I haven't really played it all that much. I do own FF7 for PS1 and I must say I enjoy it. But I prefer Legend of Dragoon to FF7, haha.

And as for posting something, I do have a first chapter of a novel I'm working on uploaded. It's called The Casting of Crowns, and it's (surprise!) fantasy. And I'd be most appreciative if you did review it.

Thanks Esther, and it was nice meeting you! :D

It's taking a bit of getting used to, for someone who uses FictionPress lol.

And thank you for the compliment! Your suggestions were much appreciated, and much needed! Sometimes I get so engrossed in what I know that I forget about the audience--they don't know what I do!

So, we'll see where revision takes me (I hate revising, but it is needed)! :)

Yes, FP is getting a bit ridiculous haha. SOOO many plagarism issues, and shiny reviewers who don't really offer any advice. It's hard to improve when no one tells you how to improve, you know? :)

By the way, LOVE this purple elephant! :elephant:

Haha nice meeting you, Elinor!

Well hello...err, is CV ok for a nickname? XD

I'm more of a werewolf fan, myself, though not a big fan of Twilight. The first book was a good idea with good plot, but the later editions became too...mainstream and smooshed, as if Meyers were trying to force it out for more reviews. Just an opinion, though!

Anyway, it was lovely to meet you! :)

I know right. And they make it really hard for new members, too. I tried joining that site a while ago. I lasted about 2 days? lol. Well, here is definitely different. Everyone is so helpful and kind, and your writing will improve so much. Hehe, the elephant is pretty cute, isn't he?

I think I've received more help in my first day here than in the 5 years I've been a member of FP, lol.

Though I like their system for uploading and formatting your work, I like the atmosphere at YWS a whole lot better. :D

I think you'll fit in just fine here, Firefly :) I'm on fictionpress also, but I prefer YWS to it because no one has read my book that is on there, plus I think we are more friendly on here and have way less plagiarism issues. So you're thinking about being a teacher? That's awesome but history and English are so hard to choose between. I think I'd personally pick history. Psychology is awesome, I'm think about majoring in Neuropsychology(sp?) when I'm in college.

So now for some questions:
What's your favorite ice-cream flavor?
Coke or Pepsi?
What's your favorite thing to learn about (history wise)?

PM me if you wanna talk or have any questions.

Hello, Peanut!

Heh, yeah. I love (mostly ancient) history and English equally, so choosing between the two will be hard!

I though Psych would be something I'd enjoy, because the human mind fascinates me! But I'm lazy, and there is just waay too much medical terminology to remember and procedures to do, even for a counseling psychologist (which is what I was aiming for). But, I think teaching suits my wants and needs better, anyhow. :)

 It's a tie between mint chocolate chip and cookies n' cream.
 This one's easy: PEPSI!!
 I love ancient history. Renaissance-era, Greek/Roman, Egyptian. I find their ingenuity and beliefs extremely fascinating and I just eat it all up on the History/NatGeo channels!

It was a pleasure meeting you, and here's hoping to chat again sometime soon! :elephant:

(that little elephant just never gets old! ^^)

Yea' you can call me CV if you like, also vamp or curious would do just find too. And I'm not a big Twilight fan myself- I refused to even read the first novel. Any who a few people think just because the second part of my user name is vampire I'm automatically am Twilight twit as my friends call the Twilight fans- no offense to you Twilight fans.

Hello there, Firefly!

I was thinking of the song called "Fireflies" by Owl City rather than a TV show when I read first your name! :smt004

Anyways, welcome to YWS! Meet some writers here through the amazing "Chatroom", it's just found in YWS Homepage! Hope you enjoy being a member here and try to get some stars and badges!
