Eris Lyre

Eris, who had just taken a sip of coffee, patted Krystal on the back.

"Ready for training today?" She asked, pulling her hair back into a ponytail. She was glad that they would be given light work to deal with first, warming up and then getting towards rigorous exercise at the end of the day.

Krystal – Hawks

“Ready as ever,” she said with a grin, scraping the bottom of her bowl with her spoon for a moment before continuing. “How’d you sleep last night?”

“Fine,” she replied. Krystal nodded and went back to her bowl. “And you?”

“Grand,” she said and paused. “Just so you know, I acted really weird last night. That wasn’t normal. The ketchup was, but I’m not that annoying normally.” Eris chuckled and nodded.

“And you passed out right when I asked you my question,” Krystal continued, cheering and waking up. “How’d you end up here?”

**That was short. Oh well. Oh, and since I’m not a Cobra, you Cobras are going to have to decide for yourselves what to do first. Maybe have a meeting and assign a leader?**

She laughed. "It's a long story, honey," she whispered, getting a paintball gun from a moderator which she had ordered when her first signed up for camp. "I will tell you this, though. I live for paintball, so you better watch out."

Krystal laughed, unsure whether to be humored or scared. "Well, you're a very interesting person, Eris, that's for sure."

"What can I say?" Eris replied. "I'm named after the Greek Goddess of Discord."

Amy - Cobras

The cafeteria was buzzing when Amy wandered in. Luckily, the annoying little thing she shared a room with had already gone, and it only took a few minutes for Amy to track down her uniform. She carried her helmet loosely in one hand, and her paintball gun in the other.

Her brother had been at the camp last year. He'd even been on the winning team, and was ushered off to college with a pocketful of cash. He'd warned her to never be too trusting of anyone, and to always be armed.

The cafeteria was mostly chaos. No one had taken a lead, no one was even trying to plan an attack for the day. Amy sighed, and eventually found her way to the head of the cafeteria. She adjusted her shades as she collected her thoughts.

"Hey!" she shouted. The cafeteria silenced, and she could hear every body turning to face her. "Alright Cobras. The Hawks have a lot of vets on their team, and it seems like we don't have so many." A shout of disagreement echoed from somewhere at the opposite end of the cafeteria. "At least no one willing to take the lead. I propose we take a vote and nominate a leader so we can stand a fighting chance against those Hawks."

Joe - Cobras

I looked around the breakfast table as Amy made the loud suggestion of a leader. I agreed with her, but really, who the hell could lead a team like this? I didn't know most anybody here, just Amy for only a few minutes yesterday, and...hey, that's an idea.

Felix was already a bit of a jerk, I almost saw him as an enemy. However, this enemy was a teammate, as I've discovered now. Maybe, just maybe, this whole leader thing could get me into more of a circle of trust with him. Pretty slim, but nobody else seemed to speak up with a nomination, so I figured, what the heck?

"I nominate Felix", I said with a full mouth. Everybody looked at me, then at Felix.

Who was Felix? He looked like a pretty good leader. But I could fight, and I never lost. I stood up. "I nominate myself, if that's allowed." I stated. I sorely hoped someone would second it. I wanted to be in charge, and lead my team to victory.

Forgive me for not posting when I said I was going to post. Right after I posted in the DT I was logging off when my batteries to my BRAND NEW laptop went caput...

Alex- Fogg- Hawks

Alex at the appointed time was the first one in and now was the first one out. After he finished his breakfast, he stopped by Katie.
He paused right in behind her, standing erectly and with his hands behind his back.

"Good day to you all," he said in a clear voice.
"Oh, hey, Alex," Kyrstal turned halfway. The girl next to her just studied him.
Alex nodded to the girl, "Forgive me for interrupting your conversation. You presumably are?"
"Eris."
"Ah. The Goddess of Discord."
"Yeah... "
"Alex, did you need anything?" Krystal was holding an empty bowl, getting ready to put it away.
"We Hawks should be outside. Let the Cobras talk about Cobras while we sink our claws."
He turned over to the boy besides Krystal who was being very quiet.
"Cutter, let's get a move on."
"Wait how'd you know my na-"
Alex gracefully cut him off and glanced at Krystal, "I have a surprise I'd like to try..."
"Alex? Alex! What surprise?" Krystal loudly whispered after him. But He was already headed for the door.

Cutter-Hawks,

I raise my eyebrows. Bossy much? Jeez. I bet that kid read the entire camper list and memorized every single name. Shaking my head, I get up and head for the door.

"Let's get to the tactics," I mutter to Junni as I pass him, "That's what our cabin is supposed to be doing, no?"

"I suppose," he replies.

No! Not the second page! Anything but the second page! No-o-o-o-o! Here, we’re skipping to Day Two. Cobras, after much thought and flipping a coin, it is the Will of the Mods that Felicia lead. This is an action story, so when things grow dull, do something!

Krystal’s Journal Entry #1 – Year 2010, Day 2, 7:something-around-30 AM

(Note to peekers: this is a SWAT-level trained, teenage girl’s journal. Read this and you die.)

Aside from the facts that Fogg nearly messed everything up trying to attack the Cobras and that someone found a quicksand pit on their way to watch the sword tourney, things went pretty okay yesterday. The Cobras hadn’t attacked the entire twenty-four hours, so the Tactics Team, aka cabin C, decided that today we’re attacking. The Stealth Unit, aka cabin A, is sneaking over to try and lure some of the Cobras out for Surveillance (cabin B) to catch because we tend to stink at these things. The last time the S.U. tried kidnapping, they ended up being held for ransom, so we’re just acting as bait this time. Yay, I get to shoot someone! I wonder what we’ll do with them. Steal their keys? Find out how well trained they are? Or maybe hold them up for ransom for ammunition or something.

No word from Mom or Dad. Usually they call or send a carrier pigeon or something on the first day. Maybe it was the rain.

I want a cookie. A tomato flavored cookie.

Wish us luck… you… piece of paper… ugh. I want a puppy to talk senselessly to.

She jammed her pen down the bent spiral binder and shut the book tightly, slipping it under her pillow. Maybe she would keep it up for longer than a week this time. With a quick snap of the sheets in case the Mods pulled an inspection, she pulled her mask over her face and tightened the string of her bow. This would be fun.

Leaving the hut Krystal noticed Alex waiting outside, grinding away at his BB gun with polish. She whistled to him and quietly slipped over.

I was exited. I had my tactics set, and the Cobras now knew the drill. We would hide, playing defensive until the Hawks attacked, as I was sure they would. We would then fight it out, pushing them back into their own territory. I grabbed my swords and strapped my gun to my belt. I pulled on my mask and stepped outside. I took my place, lying flat on a hill. I wouldn't be visible until someone got to the crest, and by that time, I would have gunned them down. Now to wait for the Hawks to make their move. I wondered if all the other Cobras were in their ready hiding places.

Please! Post!

Krystal - Hawks

Krystal sat beneath a tree, panting to catch her breath. That strategy was a bust. They had practically swarmed over the bridge and onto the Cobras' territory, and the second they had set foot on it they were shot back.

"Where are the hostages we were promised?" a boy from surveillance mocked, walking up to her.

"Reloading," she said simply. The adrenaline rushing through her brain kept her from thinking up something witty. "Go tell your team to fall back."

"We already got the message, highness," he said. Did I sound bossy or something? I must be tired. With a sigh he thrust his hand out to her, making her jump back a little. "Help up?"

She sucked in a deep breath and took his hand. "Thanks, and sorry."

...

"We need a new plan, then," said one of the tactics kids after hearing how the Cobras had upped their defense.

Felix -- Cobras

I knelt as low to the ground as I possibly could, deviously hidden under thick brush. Hopefully, we wouldn't have to retreat; I rather liked my hiding spot.

Katie was beside me, her BB gun aimed in the same general direction as my paintball rifle, but in a slightly different angle. The only sounds I could hear were the giddy calls of the birds and the soft hissing of Katie's breath from behind her mask.

"Come on," I mouthed, starting to get impatient. Felicia had said that the Hawks would attack, and I had agreed. Were we wrong?

"Felix," I heard, voiced in a nearly silent whisper. I looked toward Katie, and then to the direction she pointed. "Look."

"Ah-hah; bingo," I smiled and counted to three. Once I said "three," Katie and I both shot at the target--a smallish boy, about fifteen, who had a sword and a slingshot. Both projectiles coming from seemingly different directions threw him off and he stumbled around, looking for where the ammo had come from. We heard more shots from the other Cobras around us before we saw a line of Hawks coming up on us.

We continued to confuse and then overwhelm them until we'd finally pushed that group back into their own territory. I gave Katie's hand a squeeze. "Nice going, Katie." And then I realized that I'd had her hand in mine in the first place, and dropped it. "Sorry."

Amy - Cobras

Felicia made the 'executive decision' to stick Amy with some pathetic strategists back at the Cobra Headquarters building. Five of them sat in the empty cafeteria. Four of them blabbed nervously about what the team was going to do, while Amy sulked around the coffee maker.

I'm better than this. What was wrong with Felicia, forcing me to stay here and do tactics. Just because I'm blind...

"Hey Amy!" one particularly obnoxious sixteen year old boy shouted across the cafeteria. "Why don't you come back over here and sit with us?"

Amy suppressed the urge to pull out her gun and send a paintball flying at his head. "I'm blind, not deaf," she said through gritted teeth.

"Did you know when you're blind all your other senses are enhanced?" one of the others, a girl this time, asked. "So Amy's hearing is probably quite advanced. Did you know that, Amy?"

"Yes, I have been blind for quite some time. I have made this realization," she said, her hand drifting toward her gun. Why, oh why couldn't Felicia have at least put me with the group of strategists that actually got to be outside. I'm sure they at least have some brain cells, unlike these kids.

Cutter-Hawks,

"We need a new strategy," one of the other strategy guys says.

"No, really?" I say sarcastically. For that, I get a glare.

"How about and ambush?" someone says.

"That might work," I say skeptically, "But it's hard to mount a full scale attack based solely on ambush attacks. We can't hide that many people."

Felicia-

After we pushed the Hawks back, I made some quick rounds to see that everything was running smoothly. Near the end I passed the cafeteria, and spied a bunch of others sitting around and chatting.
"Yes, I have been blind for quite some time. I have made this realization," said one of them. What was her name? Amy-something. She had struck me as a fighter, and she was indeed looking about ready to shoot. Given that her targets seemed to be her teammates, I pulled her over.
"Amy. I'm recruiting you. You're head of strategy now. Okay? The Hawks will find a way around our defense soon enough. I need you to make sure that doesn't happen. Round up some others to help you, okay? I need brains behind this, not just pure brawn. Will that work?" I asked. She struck me as being very clever. I hoped she would accept, I had made the wrong decision putting her on the field directly.
Honey, you should see me in a crown.
