Submission Call For YWS News!

YWS News is almost on the verge of being functional and it's at the point where it needs submissions for me to develop it any further. So, submit to YWS News! The Submission Form At this point, when YWS News opens is really up to you. I can't do much more with it until people start submitting, so it's pretty much stalled at this point. But once around 10 to 20 submissions are received, I can put the final touches on it (and the final touches will only take a couple hours). What can you submit? You may submit anything non-fiction. Anything. It could be a news story about a local event in your area, or it could be an article about how to build a patio. Or it could be an opinion on healthcare reform, or an article explaining healthcare reform. When I say anything non-fiction, I really do mean anything non-fiction. Choose something that fascinates you. Quality of Writing Articles must have good grammar. I can't stress this enough: good grammar is a must. I'm by no means looking for perfect grammar, but I am looking for good grammar. I don't see a category for my article. If you don't see a category, no worries. Just choose the category that you think fits your article best. If I disagree, then I'll move it to the appropriate category or create a new one. If it's a news story or article and you're in doubt, then post it in the 'World' section. Any submission criteria? If you're asking this question yourself, then you're most likely thinking about length. There are no requirements regards to length. It could be 100 words long, it could be 10,000 words long. Most good articles are between 500 to 2000, but that doesn't mean yours needs to be. As it regards other possible factors, all that really matters is that your article has good grammar and is well written. Can I submit something I wrote for school? Of course!

The form lets you post one picture to go with the story, but I'm sure you could put links in your article if the pictures are online somewhere.

I think it's safe to say that you can write anything non-fiction, so don't worry about the subject or style. If it does happen to be inappropriate, I'm sure Nate will let you know. So everyone stop worrying about whether or not the subject is okay and just go for it!

On Pictures: You can attach one picture to your article. Other than that, you just need to use the bbcode img tag:

That does mean, though, that any additional images besides the first will have to be hosted off-site (photobucket is usually a good place).

On Comics: Definitely. You'll have to use the image code though like the above; whenever you attach an image, it gets resized down to 320 by 240. If that doesn't work, maybe we can work something out.
