What genre do you write, and why?
I write a lot of poetry. I've also written some "realistic" fiction, and recently I've had the urge to write something more fantastical.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
I have pretty much always written. I wrote my first poems and storylets when I was five or six, I think.

Your favourite era?
The present.

What's your view on Tolkein?
The Lord of the Rings never really got me, I've only read the first book. However, I enjoyed Roverandom.

Your favourite name ever?
When I was younger, I loved the names Holly and Deborah. I don't really have any special favourite name now, I love all the names, really. I'm a name addict.

What are you working on right now?
Currently, I'm working on a couple of characters and trying to find out what their story is. There's also a poem that needs major editing.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?
My latest project was to write at least one haiku every day while I was on holidays. One of my favourite things about it is that I ended up writing almost 50 of them, and that I felt like I really succeeded in some of them.

Your favourite book, and why?
My absolute all-time favourite book is The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. I read it for the first time when I was thirteen years old or so, and it really got me. I love Holden Caulfield and relate to him more than I've related to any character before. I don't know what it is, really, because we're not that much alike. It's just his outlook on life, I guess.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?
I would be some kind of a feline.

How about colour?
My favourite colour is green, but I think I would be either that, yellow, or blue.

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?
I wouldn't realise it at first. Then I would read it again and be somewhat shocked, and then I would cry of happiness.

The genre you dislike the most?
I've never liked to read fantasy that much (apart from Harry Potter!). Especially if it's too heavy and contains all kinds of elves and fairies and sorcerers and all that jazz.

and lastly,

Why do you write?
I write because I love the feeling you get when you write something good. Writing has always been very natural to me, so I haven't really given it that much thought. Even though I sometimes have long phases during which I don't write anything creative at all, I could never stop writing. It's also often much easier to express myself with writing.

What genre do I write?

I'm going to switch from science fiction/fantasy
to realistic fiction.

When did I start writing, and what did I write?

I was nine. I started a story which was inspired by
"Mattimeo."

Favorite era?

Either the Middle Ages or the Renaissance.
The Middle Ages because they're so little understood,
and the Ren. because of its advances in art and culture.

My view on Tolkien?

He's a good writer. Long-winded, yes,
but he also displays a good grasp of
second-person narration in "The Hobbit."

Favorite name ever?

Sandy (short for Sandra)
I was obsessed with this for a while.

What am I working on now?

Mia, plain and simple.
I'm not only changing my original
ideas about her, but learning more about
girls in general. (Hopefully.)

Favorite thing about my latest project?

As I said, learning about girls. No harm in
knowing, is there?

My favorite book?

It's a toss-up between Airborn by Kenneth Oppel
and Auralia's Colors by Jeffery Overstreet.

How about color?

I've always loved green. Dark green.
But I also like blue and red. Thank God
that most humans aren't color-blind.

If I could be any animal, what would it be?

Either a kangaroo or a bat, I think. They're both unusual.

My reaction to the affirming letter.

"Thank whatever power is responsible for publication."

My least favorite genre?

Horror and romance. Horror I don't like for obvious reasons.
Romance because in America, it's shoved down every kid's throat
as soon as they turn 13.

Why do I write?

Mostly because I can't always express myself out loud.
I'm shy when it comes to people I don't know. (Amazing, is it not?)

What genre do you write, and why?
I've always been a very big fan of romances. Call it the girl in me, but I love a realistic love story. I guess you could say that I write romances because of the thrill I get from relating two characters together who have next to nothing in common. Of course, I also love fantasy, so I often mash the two together.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
Eh, I started writing at around 11. It wasn't anything spectacular but I started roleplaying. I remember the first RP I joined was medieval fantasy. It kind of set the tone for everything else I do.

Your favourite era?
Victorian. I don't write in it, but I love the fashion.

What's your view on Tolkein?
Eh, he's Tolkien. I can't say that i've ever been interested in his stuff.

Your favourite name ever?
Thaddeus

What are you working on right now?
My story Odd Love. It's a fantasy romance kind of thing. I'm shooting for 80,000 words and am currently almost to 30,000. Once I hit my goal, and if the story's finished, i'll go back in, revise, and then pitch it to an agent for publishing.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?
All of the different aspects I was able to bring in. Faerie tale creatures, especially the not so nice versions, political intrigue, a sarcastic heroine, it's been great fun.

Your favourite book, and why?
Abarat by Clive Barker. It is by far one of the best books i've ever read. When I was around 12 must have been when I read it, and it opened my mind. 24 islands to signify each hour of the day, and a mysterious 25th hour. Odd yet endearing characters who are as varied as the islands themselves. The way he writes, and the world he builds is fantastic. It made me realize just how great imagination is. It inspired me to write.
If you could be any animal, what would you be?

How about colour?
Dark Purple
(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?
I would probably cry from joy. Or dance around and scream like a crazy person.
The genre you dislike the most?
Agatha Christie style mysteries. Such garbage.

and lastly,
Why do you write
I write because it's fun. I also write because I have a story I want to share. It might not be something people want to read, but as long as I enjoy what I do, I will always find people who enjoy the same thing.

What genre do you write, and why?

I write fantasy and historical fiction for the most part. Why? Because they're what I enjoy to read, and hence to write. It's fun.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?

I don't know when I started, but the earliest story I can find is one called "Emergency Bike Spys" that I wrote just after my seventh birthday.

Your favourite era?

Regency, 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, Renaissance, what I like to call "The Fairytale Age"... there are too many!

What's your view on Tolkein?

Awesome ideas, horrible prose.

Your favourite name ever?

Like I could ever choose one. But I love the name Adelaide. And lately, Mercy. It's pretty, and what with naming people after virtues, I think Mercy is underrated. The quality of mercy is not strained, and all.

What are you working on right now?

A fairytale retelling called "Twelve" about (well, duh) the twelve dancing princesses. It's not great and probably once I'm finished it'll never see the light of day. But it's my baby and I can't abandon it.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?

Hmm... probably the character interactions. That's what I love about a lot of things. Not that I've written them that well, but my protagonist, Charlotte, has eleven sisters and I really like developing their relationships with each other and their father, not to mention their suitors.

Your favourite book, and why?

Possibly The Book Thief by Markus Zusak because it's so beautiful, possibly Emma by Jane Austen because Emma is such a fantastic creation, possibly a hundred others.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

I'd see myself as an Arctic fox. I'm not nearly brave enough to be a full-blown wolf, but I think I could manage one of those.

How about colour?

I've been told I'd be a forest green, but I can see myself as a blue too. Something bright, but calm at the same time.

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?

Get someone else to read it to make sure it's true.

The genre you dislike the most?

Hmm... Do I have one? I don't know. Crime, probably. Not that I've ever read it. I guess that's why I've never read it. And chicklit. Most of it, anyway.

Why do you write?

Because I enjoy it.

1. I like writing humour, because, well... it's funny  As for my other genre, I'm not sure what you'd call it. I suppose it's realistic fiction? It always seems to involve kids with bad parents, who beat them up and stuff... a bit different to humour, but ah well. :smt002

2. Except for in school, where I didn't actually have a choice, probably only about a year ago...

3. Well, I haven't lived in many era's... I'm only 14. If I had to say, it's probably the 80's! They had funny hair then...

4. I don't actually know who that is... I goggled it, and I got a picture of a man smoking a pipe. Because of that. He. Is. Cool.

5. What? How dare you make me choose! :o Well, everyone always disagrees with me, but I like the names Dougie and Maxxie for boys. For girls, I like Zoey and Tory

6. Um... I feel really annoyed with myself about this, but I'm not actually working on anything right now. :?

7. I. Can. NOT. Pick. One.

8. A meerkat. Can you blame me?

9. Hmm... probably romance. It's annoying. It all involves vampires nowadays anyway.

10. The same reason your nan does. :smt001

What genre do you write, and why?
I tend towards sci-fi, fantasy and realistic fiction.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
I started in 2nd grade, and it was something like "The Witch of Sapphire Pond."

Your favourite era?
The 50's. ;D

What's your view on Tolkein?

Well, there's a lot to be said about that chap, isn't there?

Your favourite name ever?
I have no idea. e_o

What are you working on right now?
A collection of poetry, and my entry for a contest here.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?

The fact that it even made it that far (onto paper, at least).

Your favourite book, and why?
I definitely can't commit to one favorite book.
I rather enjoyed Nine Novels by Younger Americans though, not because the writing was profound, but because it gave me hope and I was excited to get a glimpse of the "competition's" published works. xD

If you could be any animal, what would you be?
Serval.

How about colour?
Blue/Green

What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?

Probably a long string of cuss words, and depending on whether it was for a magazine, chronicle or my own actual novel, I might faint.

The genre you dislike the most?
Errr, changes by day. Even though I don't enjoy reading all genres, I can respect and appreciate works of every genre, provided they are of good quality.

Why do you write?
I could give some incredibly deep, drawn-out response, which albeit true,
would take all of my energy to write. And I am very tired. ; p
Quite simply, it makes me happy, when very few other things do.

What genre do you write, and why?

I write everything except non-fiction. I mainly write a hybrid of romance/fantasy/sci-fi. I write these because my ideas are not at all in the realm of reality.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
Probably in grade 5 when I won a contest with "I Slipped, I Fell, I Flew".

Your favourite era?
This one because research isn't required.

What's your view on Tolkein?
Overrated. Made everything drag on.

Your favourite name ever?
Jason... Don't ask. It's not even my name!

What are you working on right now?
"Binding Darkness" - The ScriptFrenzy version!

It's creepy and does what I want it to.

Your favourite book, and why?
"The Transal Saga" because it was like many awesome books rolled into one.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

How about colour?
Why would I want to be a colour? I guess blue?

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?
Seriously?!?!?!?!

The genre you dislike the most?
Fantasy

and lastly,

Why do you write?
Because films require too many people.
Current Project: Otherworld (Novel) - 11,000 words so far

What genre do you write, and why?

Fantasy, generally. However, I do dabble in the others.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?

About seventh grade, I co-wrote a story with a friend which was basically a Sailor Moon knock-off.

Your favourite era?

Well, I'm always thinking about the ancient civilizations first if I plan to do anything historical.

What's your view on Tolkein?

A successful writer and yet difficult to read.

Your favourite name ever?

Alicia. I've yet to find a good use for it.

What are you working on right now?

SCRENZY WOO. A Barbie movie, no less. :D *excitement*

Your favourite thing about your latest project?

It's BARBIE.

Your favourite book, and why?

The Dragonkeeper series by Donita K. Paul. She still managed to twist high fantasy into something of her own rather than look like a Tolkein knock-off.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

I'd be a kitty 'cause, man, do they got it good.

How about colour?

I'd be the rainbow!

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?

Reaction: lolwut?

The genre you dislike the most?

Writing: Non-fiction.
Reading: Horror.

Why do you write?

The same reason I do any of my other hobbies: I enjoy it.
I make my own policies.

What genre do you write, and why?
I like to write fantasy mostly. I do because it gives you no limits to what you can do, it can also be difficult to balance it, and not go overboard with characters, and I like that.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
When I was like in 3rd or 4th grade I started to write my day dreams down, being a 4th grader the first ones I remember were Power Rangers and a family of Spies who need to save their parents.

Your favourite era?
You mean time? I would say the ancientest, Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, those ind of times. But a lot of the time I write other worlds, based a bit off them (mixed together)

What's your view on Tolkein?
Have never read nor seen LOTR (Runs from angry mobs)

Your favourite name ever?
I have used Nick and James and Zeke in a few different stories of mine.

What are you working on right now?
I am again remodeling an old idea of mine, that I tweak constantly. I am using Vacation to mull it over before I start planning when I get home. Its not very different, but it sort of filled some plot holes.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?
I put a bit of Chuck in the new version, as in the intersect flashes are a bit the same as what the character does. I am having fun trying to think of how to describe it, and not do the same thing each time either. (Not a chuck rip off, but he sort of sees people from him former life and remembers them in a flash back sort of thing)

Your favourite book, and why?
I generally don;t have a one favorite book, I tend to obsess over what I am reading at the moment, and then forget momentarily about other ones. But if I HAD to choose, I guess the Pendragon Series, the fantasy is well balance and held down, the action wonderful, with a good plot underneth it all, and cool characters. Hobey Ho!is good.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?
I remember there is this bird that can sleep while it flies, I think it be awesome to do that, so that thing.

How about colour?
Blue, all kinds of blue. Also Red and Gold when placed together

What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?
... something along the lines of "OH my f****** f*** I just got f****** published. Don;t be f****** me right now letter, don't!" And then I would go dance around naked at a preschool an throw rocks at a mini mall.

The genre you dislike the most?
I dislike 100% romance, its fine as a subplot, or something that happens, but a story only about getting a girl is usually not my cup of tea. The book I am reading now Paper Towns by John Green (Nerdfighters ftw)is a good one though, I wouldn't call it a romance, but it balances it well with the rest of the story.

Why do you write?
Because when I write, I can do whatever the heck I want. People tend to read as an escape, but when you write, you;re in control of it all, whatever you want you can do. I was always a day dreamer, and now I just write those dreams down onto paper.

What genre do you write, and why?
-I write realistic fiction because I like to connect with my reader. To either make them feel as if they aren't alone, or let them escape into someone else's problems.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
-I started really writing in 6th grade, which was three years ago. I started writing just about the people and things around me. Which was really good practice for what I do now.

Your favourite era?
-Now. I've tried to like other decades, but I can never see myself wanting to be there as much as I love today. Bigger skyscrapers, better music, and a more casual outlook.

What's your view on Tolkein?
-I'm assuming you're referring to The Lord of the Rings. To be honest, I've only read the Hobbit. I found it ... not my style. Too fantasy. Those books scream NERD to me.

Your favourite name ever?
-Charlotte. I dearly wish my name was Charlotte. My protagonist's name is Tony (which is a nickname for Anthony). I've always loved that name too. Jacob (despite the people I know with that name) has a lot of warmth to it, I think.

What are you working on right now?
-I'm working on a realistic fiction piece about a young cellist who loses his twin sister and falls in love. I think it's one of my best yet. It's called Cello Wars.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?
-I love how I can put to much of myself into it. If I experience something, so does Tony (my protagonist). Tony loves music just as much as I do. He feels pain like I do. The book, while depressing at parts, makes me happy. I feel productive.

Your favourite book, and why?
-Currently, The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. It moved me. It also gave me the feelings to write a really good scene in my book. It was just beautiful. I also liked the way Sparks writes, even though at times it is repetitive.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?
-Hmm. A hedgehog. I could curl up and watch the clouds, sitting in a pile of leaves, looking adorable. Sounds happy to me ...

How about colour?
-Warm colours. Dark read, dark purple, soft yellow. Something that's calm and cute at the same time. I also love the occasional light aqua colour, too.

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?
-First, I'd probably do some cabbage patching. Then I'd feel complete gratitude. The appreciation of my work is always loved by me.

The genre you dislike the most?
-If you count fan fiction and parodys, I hate those. Why wreck a perfectly good story or song? I think that's so horrible.

Good luck with your blog! :)

What genre do you write, and why?

I write paranormal or fantasy, mostly on the dark fringes of both. Mainly because normal life isn't big enough, and honestly I like the way the paranormal genre sheds a bit of magic on our own lives.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?

I started writing at 7, but I wasn't serious. It had something to do with gods and the apocalypse, but I never actually finished it because I put a security password on it and I kind of forgot the password. ^^"

Your favourite era?

The Renaissance. Or the era when the Greeks were powerful.

What's your view on Tolkein?

Tolkien? Honestly I haven't read the books but I can say this just from watching the movie: his imagination is limitless.

Your favourite name ever?

:O That is hard. I like Icarus and Daedalus. Julian? Solaris? Lisette? Kiriath? Alysse? Dorian? Quinn? I can't decide.

What are you working on right now?

Catharsis and The Devil's Gambit. Actually, the first is going through a major revision after five drafts and the second is on its first draft.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?

Latest, so I suppose you mean TDG? Well, I love it because it's got Faustian themes and, in a sense, is about ambition. And yet it's not because it's also about wanting what you can't have and is sort of a modern, edgier and darker take on star-crossed lovers.

Your favourite book, and why?

The Picture of Dorian Gray. Because it's amazing, from the prose to the idea to the corruption of Dorian. <3 Actually, both Catharsis and TDG take after The Picture of Dorian Gray. Catharsis emphasizes the corruption of Cass while TDG is more on the Faustian themes.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

A crocodile or a snake.

How about colour?

Navy/dark blue or silver.

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?

My jaw would drop open and I would be silent for as long as it takes to sink in. Then I will grin like a maniac for the rest of the week.

The genre you dislike the most?

I hate reading anything that has no plot or has too much description - no particular genre I hate, although I don't really read hard sci-fi. So I guess hard sci-fi?

Why do you write?

Because it's fun and it's my hobby. I have so many stories and ideas to share with the world and I'll probably explode if I don't put them down somewhere. I mean, I could always say them out loud but come on. ;) Saying them out loud will take way too long.

What genre do you write, and why?

Poetry and short stories, since that's all I really have time for. As a debator and essayist, and main editor of the school newspaper, I spew out some more formal works as well, and these I enjoy, too.

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?

Like...writing writing?? Well, I can distinctly remember when I was about six or seven coming up with what I then thought was the world's biggest masterpiece of a poem. It was rather Dr. Seus-ish, actually.

Your favourite era?

That's a tough one. I go through seasons. Currently it's a little more modern, but I've been classics-obsessed in the past. And I'll never give up Shakespeare.

What's your view on Tolkein?

Actually, it's really bizarre, but I just have NEVER been able to get into his books! So...haven't read a single one, I'm afraid; tried to and failed too many times to count.

Your favourite name ever?

Also a mood-thing. I'm name-obsessed, and can think about names for hours...

What are you working on right now?

As in...writing-wise? NaPo, only. Can't really cram anything else in, sorry.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?

The beautiful collection of poems I'll end up with by the time April's over!

Your favourite book, and why?

I refuse to ansewr this. There are too many good authors in the world to give any one particular credit. I like authors that can make me think and feel, and know how to write driven plots and real characters.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?

A dinosaur - *roar*. Actually, I'm not too fond of animals, myself, so I'll give this a pass.

On second thoughts...I'd be the worst kind of animal ever...a human. :P

How about colour?

I'm a WRITER - the colour depends on the MOOD and the THEME, and the-everything-else that I need in the story. In life, I like it natural.

(if you want to get published) What would your reaction be when you got your affirming letter?

A few handsprings and somersaults, and a healthy dose of Chopin's 11th Etude of Opus 25 would do the trick. Oh, and split leaps and some extra jumping for...a few weeks or so.

The genre you dislike the most?

Chick flick, if I can dare call that a genre. Not really a true story there. Shallow everything.

and lastly,

Why do you write?

Because I can, because I want to, because I love it; I love the way the words turn into something marvellous and stunning; I love the flow of ink on paper, and seeing something brought to life; I love the reaction I get from others when they read my work and enjoy it; but I think the best answer would have to be: just because. :D

Eh, what the heck. Here we go! Good luck with your blog!

What genre do you write, and why?
Realistic short story. Life and people are fascinating enough without the highfalutin powers or fantasies. Also, it's easy to get carried away when writing the fantastical, as your story might become only a medium to present "cool magic powerz!".

When did you start writing, and what did you first write?
When I was 6 or 7 years old, as soon as I knew how to write sentences, I wrote about...
1) an elderly woman who could not pass elementary school (she got in too many adventures/held too many grudges to pass school) and
2) a floating banana that stalks the narrator (a five part series that became darker and darker)

Your favourite era?
To live in? Present-day. We've got it sweet.

What's your view on Tolkein?
Too wordy. He has some really neat ideas, well crafted worlds and history, and is practically the godfather of fantasy, but my goodness, does he clutter it up with way too many words and unnecessary descriptions.

Your favourite name ever?
Eilonwy, my first character crush from Lloyd Alexander's books.

What are you working on right now?
Getting back in the game.

Your favourite thing about your latest project?
Well, an obligation to write 30 poems during National Poetry Month (admittedly not my forte at all) is certain to get some of these rusted gears moving again. And it gives me something to do at work during downtime...

Your favourite book, and why?
Can I cheat and choose from complete opposite ends of the spectrum?
The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander. One of the best, most touching, approachable, fantasies you'll read.
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Thoroughly convincing, beautiful wordplay, and not for the faint of heart.

If you could be any animal, what would you be?
Human. Opposable thumbs for the win. I'm not entirely proud of the rest of them jerks, though.

How about colour?
Okay, what? Um, gold. Nature's first green is gold.

The genre you dislike the most?
Anything "he said she said omg my life is terrible because the cute boy doesn't like me fml" and, along with that, that which is thoroughly shallow and insipid but pretends to be life shaking and gut wrenching.

and lastly,

Why do you write?
Because I've seen what not writing does to me. You begin to feel through-and-through plain, inconsequential, frustrated, self-contained, and you'll do almost anything to feel and be felt again. You get thoughts that you think are rational and deserved, but man oh man, just take a step back and write a "roses are red/violets are blue" or something and you'll be right as rain eventually.

How does a blog work exactly Durrie?
"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
-John 11:25-26
