Well, it was about damn time things started going my way! This car...this car was amazing. I looked inside and saw that it had some button for an overwater mode, which I probably wouldn't use, but it was still pretty damn cool of a feature.
I jumped into the driver seat and Maitea hopped into the passenger seat. I quickly shot it into full speed down the road. Maitea was a little bit shocked that I was going so fast instantly. Me, I enjoyed the hell out of it. No roof, so I could feel some wind blasting through my hair. I quickly plugged my MP3 player into the car and turned the volume up to "Cherry Bomb" by the Runaways.
The car was fast enough to get to the actual city about twice as fast as the General Lee did. I slowed it down and lowered the volume as we got onto the streets. I enjoyed the ride, but I really didn't want to get in trouble again by doing something illegal. I was back on everybody's good side, aside from maybe Reg, but the two of us even had turned our anger to each other into a quiet hatred, or so I found.
I still needed a drink, though. I pulled over by a liquor store and unfastened the seat belt. Although I trusted her, I wanted to be extremely certain on one thing with everybody I let into this new, awesome car.
"I swear to god, if you drive away with this car, I will run you over with it", I told her. She felt a little nervous from that statement. I felt a little bizarre saying it as well. I think I was a teensy bit drunk. Might explain why I just used the word "teensy".
I went in and out with a six pack that I put in the trunk, and felt better than I had in months. I felt good enough that I did something I didn't suspect of myself.
"You wanna drive this baby out of the city?", I asked Maitea. She jumped right into the driver seat as I said that. I jumped into the passenger seat with a bottle of beer in my hand.
I expected the happiness she had driving down the road. I didn't expect her to be happy enough to speed the car off right away. Maybe it wasn't happyness, actually. Maybe she was really just stupid enough not to realize how fast the car could actually good. We had some cops behind us in about a minute after she realized how fast she actually went.
"Ironic, ain't it? That the tempermental drunk isn't the one getting pulled over?
