Jason

I had wanted to construct a trap for the rock creature but the others were eager to move and in hindsight, they were probably the wiser party. Still. I was cross with them as we fled over the rocks. Prim stumbled in front of me, falling on to the path. I reached down to tug her to her feet and hoped I didn't hurt her. Behind us I could hear the roar of the creature and swallowed hard. It was free.

"Anyone got a plan?" Chris asked in a slightly trembling voice. I didn't blame him. This was scary. My heart-beat was all over the place and my hand was slick with enough sweat to save a rainforest.

"Water?" I suggested. "Uh... water might turn him into mud or maybe fire. I guess that would bake him or something?"

"Anyone got a good suggestion?" Casilda asked. I shut my mouth. Fine. The first time I try to make an honest remark and I get shot down.

"No wait, that might be it," Tyson said. "Even just enough fire to bake one of his legs-"

"-Would disable him," I finished, mojo returned. "So where do we get the fire smart arse?"

"It was your idea."

"Yeah, well maybe I re-thought it." All this time we were running back along the path, grass snagging at our shoes and tree branches scraping our arms. I was bringing up the rear and prepared to give anyone who slowed down a push in the right direction. That thing was fast! It was gaining on us.

Yay! Thanks everyone for keeping Alis alive.
Alissanne
All great women could run in heels, and she, was beginning to consider herself a great women. Escaping from a golem in high heels and a dirty Dolce shirt was not an easy thing to do and even less if it was in the middle of the night. But she nailed it, for once in many years she had something else to think about other than her stupid clothes or shoes, she had to think of her life and a good way of keeping it.

She couldn't bear with herself any longer but she managed to help Chris and get him inside the shelter like thingie Jason built. Jason looked good, quite handsome but not quite her type. Shoot Alis focus, she thought as she pushed the thought away. Well, her mind was a big bunch of superficial stuff that not even she could bear and in this moment it was not time to think about that stupidity. But she was smart and she knew it, she just needed a good way of proving that she was more than that.

"So if we don't have fire...we can still stick to water, can't we?" She said.Yeah, she was smart but she really had to show them that.

Casilda:

I stood outside the shelter, watching the forest. We had been running for hours until we finally had to stop... And it was still dark. I didn't know how we'd ended up wherever we were, but we were here now and we had shelter. I couldn't hear the rock golem anymore but that didn't mean it was going to leave us alone; it was probably still out there somewhere.

I sighed and leaned against a tree about two metres away from the entrance and stared up at the stars. Wonderful, Chris, I thought. You got us all stuck out here, in the middle of nowhere.

Jason appeared out of the darkness and stopped near me. I wasn't sure if he came from the shelter or from somewhere else.

"What are you doing?" he asked, watching me closely. I pointed upwards and continued staring at the stars.

"Star gazing," I told him and dropped my gaze to him. "What?"

"You're usually hostile towards me," he muttered.

I shrugged and pushed away from the tree. I looked at him, really looked at him for the first time. He was handsome in a bad boy sort of way. I sighed and shook my head. Now, now, Casi, I told myself, forcing myself to look at something else besides him. Bad boys tend to bite.

"Well, after all the trouble we've gotten ourselves into," I began and dug patted my pockets, making sure my stuff was still in them. "I'm trying not to hate everyone in our group, present company included."

He stared at me for a moment then smiled. "Well, that's good to know."

Casilda all of a sudden left, leaving her alone with Chris and Tyson. She hadn't been that afraid in a long time, afraid and in such hostile conditions. But if she could survive that, what could she not survive?
It was all very silent, silence and darkness weren't a good combination for her, so she decided to end up with one of them, silence.

"Hey" She said to Tyson, who still had the piece of red clothing around his wound. "Are you ok?" She asked him softly.

"Surviving, but it's not that bad" Tyson said with a sly smile on his face.

"Yes of course, sure, it's nothing" She said, quite sarcastic but still smiling. Well, smiling did feel weird in such drastic situations, but she was known for having the wrong reactions to certain situations.

Prim~

“That thing is about to come out of the mud guys, and come hurtling towards camp shouldn’t we try to tell the camp!” I asked the group gesturing back the way we came.

“Heck no” Chris scoffed, “And give away our perfect hidey hole and monster! We could become famous!”

I looked back up the way we came, we needed fire but we didn’t have fire! We needed water, but to get water we had to find a stream and that would take to long...maybe we could lead it towards a stream!

Alis was talking to Tyson staring intently at his wounded leg, Cass and Jason were mumbling about company and standing watch. I blinked back at Chris who was scuffing at the ground with his shoe.

“Do you think there maybe more?” I asked.

“I hope so!” Chris said eagerly.

Tyson-

I looked around, the pain in my leg was becoming unbearable!
“Does it hurt?” She asked her hair falling over her shoulder.
“No it doesn’t hurt” I lied trying my best at a grin, I listened for the sound of the golem. I couldn’t hear it coming towards us but that didn’t mean it wasn’t lurking somewhere in the bushes.

“You’re lying” Alis sniggered.

“How do you know?” I asked cocking my head to the side. She pressed her fingers to my leg smiling at me, I felt my eyes widen and pain spread up my leg. Biting down on my lip I tried my best not to cry out.

“Didn’t hurt” I said unevenly.

Chris~

I blinked up at the starry sky and smiled determinedly. I was not going to sit here staring at stupid stars while some monster rampaged around, I was going to find and bring it in for...MONEY!

Prim’s hair blew in the wind as she stared out into the night. Was she thinking about the monster too. She looked daring enough to come with me, I doubt she’d let me go in alone.
“Wanna go on an adventure to catch that thing?” I asked her hoping the others had heard.

Cass turned and looked at me, “Adventure where?”

“Well to catch that thing of course, I mean if there is one there has to be more. There could be gazillion, these must be coyotes our little Darren was talking about” I looked around at the now silent group, “Who’s with me?”

Casilda:

I shook my head. Chris was freaking crazy.

"You are insane, boy," I told him. He just grinned back at me.

Prim looked at the ground and tried to avoid the looks Chris was giving everyone and Alis was too busy torturing Tyson to pay attention to the rest of us.

"Well?" Chris asked. He looked really excited now, like he wanted to find a lot more of those stupid rock golems...

"Fine," I muttered and rolled my eyes, ignoring the hand at my back for a moment. I had no doubt that it was Jason. "We'll go on a little adventure," I said. Chris smiled. "But first, Tyson needs a little medical attention. Anyone got supplies?"

Tyson groaned as if to prove my point and Prim dragged Alis away from him. I looked towards Tyson and saw that his leg was bleeding badly.

"Damn it, Alis," I hissed and dropped to my knees near Tyson. "You just had to pry--literally."

Tyson winced when I removed the makeshift bandage.

"Um, guys," I said and everyone looked towards me. I moved so they could see the wound. "This doesn't look too good."

The wound was bruised black and purple and something yellow was oozing from the three shallow cuts. Alis shrieked and covered her face where Prim scrunched up her nose.

"That looks nasty," Chris commented. "Really nasty."

Prim~

I felt my heart drop at the sight of Tyson’s leg. I screwed up my nose, in horror looking away gagging slightly.

“That looks...So awesome!” Chris awed dropping to his knees to inspect the cut more thoroughly. I couldn’t help but laugh, looking back at the cut I walked slowly towards Tyson dropping down next to Cass.

“Anyone got water on them?” I asked hurriedly, my voice tightening in on itself.

"I though we already discussed that we had none!" I heard a sharp voice snap in my ear though I didn't really try to match voices with faces. That had been a rather dumb question.

A large roar crashed through the area. Circling around the rock golem walked towards us tossing a tree out of his way. His beady red eyes sunk back into his skull making his stony features look gauntly.

"I think this is your adventure Chris!" I screamed. It stopped in front of us roaring down over us. I screamed back kicking myself away from its rock hard body.

"We're going to die!" Alis screamed her wide eyes grew bigger. It stepped forward bringing its hand down near us. I felt the wind in my lungs disappear. Closing my eyes I shrieked loudly. I could hear Tyson cursing, Cass shouting at the top of her lungs, Alis screeching and Jason yelling.

"Holy carrots look at that!" Chris cackled. I heard a large moan, I opened my eyes to see a sword pointing through the golem's chest. Black blood dropped from the tip landing on the floor in large clumps. It stepped back falling to the ground.

I followed Chris's stare to see a large heavily plated figure behind him. The plated figure looked down on the beast cursing something in a foreign language.
"What the shit is that?" Jason cried.
"I don't know but what ever it is, I think I just wet my pants" Chris laughed.
I spy!

Casilda:

I laughed at Chris's comment. Wet his pants? Ha! Then I stared at the thing that had killed the golem. What the heck?

Someone grabbed my arm and jerked me backwards. I found myself looking up at another of the weird armour-wearing things.

I screamed and the thing clamped a hand over my mouth, cutting short my screaming.

Alis looked towards me and screamed, causing the others to look as well. I saw them all stare and then Chris stepped forward, as did Jason.

"Let her go," Jason said and Chris grinned.

"What he said," Chris intoned, jerking a thumb towards Jason.

Prim was quiet. She stared at me, her eyes wide.

Woah! Wait just a minute, was I seriously sizing up against a big scary thing with spiked armour and one hell of an axe that had just taken out the huge golem? Yup. I was starting to be almost as crazy as Chris and all over a girl I hardly even knew.

"You cannot be allowed to advance any further," the guard said. "I am forced to strike you down." The other guard stood stationary at the entrance to the shelter. We were not going to be able to leave.

"Wait just a friggin minute!" I said. "You're some sort of super human guard thingy right?" Oh yes, very articulate. "That means we're entitled to one question."

"I do not understand," the guard said.

"Jason, what are you trying to do?" Prim asked.

"No! He's right!" Chris decided. "Question. Yeah. What he said."

"Explain yourselves now!" The guard's voice boomed. If I hadn't already been terrified, I'd have died from fright but this was about as scared as I could get.

"You have to ask us a question. It's human law. All big scary-" I was interrupted.

"I am a Haec' guard."

"-Haec guard like things - I was getting there - have to ask us a question before they can harm us. And if we're right-"

"You have to let us go," Alis finished. I could hear Tyson groaning in the corner. Damn. His leg was worse than I'd thought.

*I'm changing to first person by the way*

I felt my heart beat as fast as it ever did, I could feel it pounding in my head, making a whole in my mind. Ugh, it was terrible, but I had to be strong, no matter what happened I had to be strong. I had to be strong even when an almost three feet thing was standing in front of us holding Casilda as a prisoner. Yeah, sure, bravery was easy in these moments.

"You have to let us go," I said, finishing Jason's sentence. "We mean no harm, we just got lost and one of our friends need help." I finished, the whole sentence sounding almost like a plea, but at least my voice didn't sound as shaky as I thought it was going to sound.

"Yeah, what she said" Chris said. For some reason, I was starting to think that Chris basically repeated everything everyone said. I tolled my eyes at him and smiled, well, wrong reaction for wrong situation.

"Yeah, you have to let us go. I mean, you wouldn't leave us here would you?" Jason continued.
All through the moment, Prim remained silent with her big beautiful eyes wide open while Tyson moaned, trying to bear the pain.

"Silence!" The haec Gaurd roared, his shoudlers roared as he brgan his large axe towards us. I closed my eyes bracing for a bloody hit. "I will spare your life if you can answer this question".

I opened one of my eyes to see him staring down on me with unfathomable hate.
"What's your question?" Alis asked in a shaky voice.
"Yeah, I can take it!" Chris said stepping in front of the group puffing his chest out.

"If our lives are placed in his hand we are totally screwed" Cass muttered under her breath.

"Silence you creten!" The Haec' Guard screamed "I am not afraid to breka your necks under the lady Abhorsen's light!"

"If our lives are placed in his hand we are totally screwed," I muttered under my breath, glaring at Chris. Seriously, he was just being idiotic right now.

"Silence you creten!" The Haec' Guard screamed. "I am not afraid to breka your necks under the lady Abhorsen's light!"

I struggled, trying to get away from the guard and a huge hand curled around my neck. I froze, eyes wide. He may have stopped covering my mouth but it wasn't like I could move, all I could do was stare at my friends while they came up with some ridiculous ask-a-question-and-if-we-get-it-right-you-let-us-go ploy they we trying.

I felt the stupid Haec' Guard's grip close on my neck and let out a strangled scream. The other Haec' Guard turned on the one holding me.

"Don't kill her, you idiot!" he snarled and the grip on my neck relaxed.

"Hurry up," I mouthed at them. Prim nodded and poked Jason. She whispered something in his ear and then turned to Chris and whispered something in his ear as well. What were they going to try now?

I leaned my head closer as I felt Prim's warm breath tickle my ear. "If we get the question wrong, let's charge them," she said. I blinked. Wha-at? Like that would ever be a good plan but I supposed it was all that we had.

"Okay, what's the question?" I asked. I was still half amazed that they were stupid enough to actually believe they had to ask a question. Shit. Who gave people so stupid great, big, scary axes? I should have told them that they also had to kill each other if we were right.

"Who are you allied with?" The Haec' Guard asked. I blinked and turned to Chris with a questioning look. That wasn't a knowledge question, didn't these morons understand the rules?

"We're all going to die!" Alis moaned.

"Wait, that's not our answer!" I said quickly. "Uh... we're allied with, with... the Lady Abhorsen's light of course." I wondered who the hell she was but hopefully it was a someone and not just some stupid saying. We were so screwed.
