Hi, Newbie Here :)

Hello YWS! I'm new here, and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a fourteen year old inspiring author who goes by the name TemptedFiction. I'm on here so that I can grow as a writer, and get my story noticed. It's called Rewind. It is book one of a series I'm in the process of writing.
From the critiques of other people I have came to the conclusion, that my weakness in my writing is having unnecessary dialogue, and controlling my pace. This is something that I need to work on because they are key points in writing.

Hey TemptedFiction, welcome to YWS! I'm Eris, but you can call me whatever you want. =)

There are a few rules/guidelines here that need to be followed, so I listed some of them here:

No chatspeak please, not even in the chat room!

Don't use a bunch of caps in your subject titles for your posts, and once again, don't talk in full caps in the chat room. (For example, putting your story title as 'REWIND' is bad)

If you ever post a story that may have content not suitable for some readers, please put a rating on it.

For every one post of your own (Story, randomness, anything but reviews really) please write and post two critiques/reviews. This is known as the 2:1 ratio.

You might notice that some members here have colored names. Why is that?

Bright blue names mean someone is a greeter. They greet new members (like yourself!) to the website and assist them.

Purple names mean someone is an instructor. They are most known for very good critiques.

Light green names mean someone is a junior moderator. They are like Moderators.

Dark green names mean someone is a full moderator. They help moderate the forums and can assist you at times.

Red names mean someone is a Admin or Junior Admin. They manage the website.

Wow, did I overload you? XP Anyways, let me know if you ever need help with anything or want some critiques on your stories.

Eek, unnecessary dialogue, lol! I'm also a big culprit of that... it's rather sad! What's worse is that, when you're a culprit of unnecessary dialogue, this unfortunately means you have to connect everything very well. So when you edit the unnecessary dialogue out and leave the necessary dialogue in, it leaves lots of big holes. Really annoying!

Hi TemptedFiction, I love your user name, very creative. I have problems with the pace of my stories too. Sometimes they drag on and on, and then BAM! So much conflict, I feel sorry for my characters. I'm trying to learn to space it out. Well if you have any questions or if you need a review or a friend, feel free to PM me. I feel like we are on the same boat here. I don't think I have much useless dialogue, but when it comes to rushing my story, well. Haha!

To answer the questions I was asked:
-I tried to take a crack at poetry, but I think fiction is my strong point.
-My favorite food is pizza.
-I've been writing since I was a kid (even though I still am). I remember writing a story in school in third grade about a crayon that came to life. They loved it and kept it for an example of great writing. Writing is a passion of mine.
-I had a dog named Pepsi, but she died about 3 weeks ago...
-My favorite animal is the Meerkat.
-My favorite sport is Volleyball.
-My favorite author at the moment is Mark Richard Zubro.

Aw, I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my bulldog, Wynne, over the summer. It's so hard. I think losing my dog was just as hard as losing my grandmother.
A meerkat? Woah! What an amazing animal to love! Hehe.
Mark Ruchard Zubro. I have never heard of him, but I think I'll look him up right now! My club and I are looking for new books to read.

Yeah, losing a dog is tough. I'm sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Meerkats are so awesome! lol. My favorite book by Zubro is Dead Egotistical Morons. There's language and content in there that I would rate PG 13.

I'm JustDance but call me JD. The fact that you already know your weak points in writing is great! It'll help you a lot. That is why we have YWS.

Let me tell you a bit more about these colors and what their usergroup is for
The blues are greeters, the people who usually greet newbies like you. Tell them the rules, and other basic information, making them feel welcomed. The purps jobs are to review, review, and review! Usually they are very good at critiques, and try to help members become better writers, and improve! Junior mods and Global mods are like their names. Usually in charge of a specific part of YWS. These guys are who you can count on for any basic questions. Admins are 'The Boss' in charge. Help run the site and know every nook and secret of it. Distinguished members are usually mods that left the site, or don't come on as much anymore.

JD: Yeah my story that I have posted was just a rough draft, and is under major construction. I knew it had faults, but I wanted to see people ideas and critiques.

Have you seen the Groups yet? If not, they're worth checking out. There are about a million so you're bound to find some that interest you. Don't hesitate to join. They're a great way to improve various aspects of writing and make some fast friends.

I'm going to jump down to my favorite portion now which is the really hard questions.
What's your favorite genre to read/write? What kind of music do you listen to? If you could meet one author and talk to them for any hour about anything you wanted who would you meet? What's your baked good of choice? If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why? If you could have any superpower, what would you choose and why?
