:) Hi there! I'm new and a tad unsure as to what to say... Ah well, here goes:
I'm a 16 year old South African girl and I am EXTREMELY passionate about creative writing (I can also write backwards fluently. haha).
One of my flaws when it comes to the writing of novels is that I can never stick to one idea and often battle to keep interested in the specific topic. At the moment I have more than ten ideas running through my mind...
Anyway, I'm glad to be a member of this Society and look forward to reading everyone else's masterpieces as well as commenting and hoping in turn for your constructive criticism of my works.

Best wishes! :smt002

Welcome!
I have to same problem. What I do is not to pressure myself to write about it, and once I am bored and alone with nothing to do, writing is the only thing that seems right!
I can't wait to read some of you works! PM me if you want a review! I'm always happy to help :)

Hiya Ela, and welcome to YWS!

Wow, you can write backwards? o.o Haha, you'll have to show me sometime. :D

We have a few rules here, so let's just get those out of the way.

1. The 3:1 ratio rule. You must have three reviews before posting your own work and three reviews from there on out for every piece of work submitted. Also, the reviews should be constructive for the writer and at least three sentences or it will not count as a review.

2. Please refrain from using chat-speak and CAPs on YWS. no tkin lyk dis AND DEFINITELY NO TALKING LIKE THIS!

3. Please rate your work E, 12+, 15+ or 18+. This really helps out with other members viewing it.

4. Be kind to everyone here. That way you'll make lots of friends and everyone's happy. :D

Okay, so do you mind a few questions to get to know you better?

~What's your favorite sport?

~What's your favorite book?

~Why do you like writing?

~What's your favorite food?

~Pizza or tacos?

Have a question? Want a review? PM me and I'll be happy to help! :D

Hello!!!

Welcome to YWS, it's great here. :D That is so cool that you can write backwards! (you'll definitely have to show me).

Now, we have a few colored members around the site. Let me explain:

Blue = Greeters. They just sit and wait for newbies to come to the welcome thread. Well, not really, but they are usually the first people to greet you here at YWS.

Purple = Instructors. Instructors give the best, most detailed reviews, and go above and beyond in what they review. If you want a good review, ask one of them.

Light and Dark Green = Moderators. They make sure the site runs properly, and that the threads are all in line.

Red = Administrators. They are the people who made/run the site. Nate is the top administrator, (he made the site). :D

Have fun, and be safe. :P

*Hugs*

PM me for any reason. :elephant:

Hiya there Ela! (Very unique username, love it! :D)
My name is JustDance, but call me JD! So you're from South Africa? That is so cool, I love meeting people from different countries ^^ So you can write backwards? Haha, that's pretty interesting, and quite a talent. I don't believe I know anyone who can do that. As far as your flaw goes, I'm exactly the same. I think a lot of writers are, actually. We get so inspired into things so easily, we tend to overwhelm ourselves, coming up with a million things to write about.

Now some questions!

How did you find YWS:
Any recent books you've read:
Hobbies:
Music:
Favorite author:
Favorite clothing style:
Favorite color:

See ya around, and PM me some time for any questions or if you just wanna chat!
-JD

Hola!
My name is Flute or Flutesy or any form of that name.
Welcome, welcome, welcome, to the wonderful world of YWS!
The others before me have basically covered everything.
I just wanna show you two really good forums on the website.
1) The Knowledge Base - writing_tips.html - If you ever need to know anything about writing, grammar, or even just to navigate the site, you can go there. It's amazingly useful, especially when you're new. Or, feel free to just ask anyone whose name is blue or green or red for help.
2) Will Review for Food - forum188.html - If you need a review on anything, just check out one of these threads asking for one. If you want a really specialized review, however, go to the advanced critiques forum (it costs some points to post there, however) or go to a thread where the user is purple. The instructors (including me) will be happy to give you an in-depth critique.
Anywayz, if you need any help with anything, feel free to PM me!
Peace, love, warm fuzzies, and lots of chocolate,

Hello, Elabrave! Welcome to YWS!
Are you enjoying it so far?
It's cool that you're from South Africa, a girl from my school went there to study! Just so you know, there is another South African on this site-Master Yoda- If you can find him. He's also a Junior Moderator, and JustDance described them in her post.
Since everyone stated the rules of YWS, I'll leave with you with a few questions.

-What Genres are your favorite?
-At what age did you start writing?
-How did you find the website?

Thats all for now, so please PM me if you have any questions. ^^
Oh, and come into chat! We're a fun bunch.

Hi all.
I find myself on the verge of being overwhelmed by the responses in such quick succession! It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside :smt003
I'll try answer your questions as best I can, but be warned: I'm indecisive

I'm not really a sporty person, although I do enjoy high-jump and cross-country when I'm in the mood.
I couldn't possibly choose a favourite book, as there are simply far too many :D
I like writing because it is how I can express my emotions, thoughts, fears and dreams.
I don't really have a favourite food, but I do love food! (I'm quite partial to pitted olives on buttered toast) :smt003
I don't think I've ever tried tacos...so I guess I prefer pizza.
I discovered YWS when I was browsing a friend's profile on Facebook - she's a member.
At present, I've just finished reading "Acid Row" by Minette Walters and have started reading "The Supernaturalist" by Eoin Colfer.
My hobbies include writing :smt005 , listening to music, reading, being with friends and family, being alone, thinking, singing alone in my room, and there's probably more..
I will listen to any kind of music basically, and am a fan of various genres. I lean more towards rock and metal though.
I don't have a favourite author, but I'm a fan of Eoin Colfer, JK Rowling, Jodie Picoult, Kathleen McGowan and, recently, Minette Walters.
My clothing style is generally casual; shirt and jeans :smt001 , but sometimes I dress up a bit more, then you'll catch me in fishnets or leggings. :smt003
My favourite colours are black and blue.
I do not have a favourite genre in terms of books; I read them all! I like fantasy, sci-fi, spiritual, adventure - you name it! (Okay, I don't like romance too much).
I started writing creatively when I learnt how to write :smt003 I remember writing a story for my class when I was 8, called "Robyn-Lee the Robyn" :smt003 :smt003

Anything else, just ask away!
I look forward to getting to know you all :elephant:

Hey there, welcome! Sounds like we have a lot in common! I listen mainly to hard rock music, McFly being the only exception, and I looove fantasy books. Have you ever read the Ranger's Apprentice series? Haha I have the same problem with writing; I get so distracted by all the different ideas in my head, and then I come up with even better ones and change the story completely. Thus it's taken me almost two years to write 5 different drafts of the same novel.
Your avatar is awesome, by the way. That's one of my favorite movies! I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton's stuff. :D
See you around!

Hey Ela, Welcome to YWS! :D

I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head too. I just write all of them :) Whatever I'm in the mood to write at any given time, I write :)

Ha! No one has mentioned the Groups. Dibs! :)
So... have you seen the Groups? There are about a million there is bound to be some that you want to join. Don't hesitate in doing so. It's a great way to make friends and improve on writing.

I'm just going to jump down to my favorite part now. The really difficult questions.
If you could meet one author and ask them anything you wanted for an hour, who would you meet? If you could hang out with any band/singer for a day, who would you choose? If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be and why? What is your baked good of choice? If you could have any superpower, what would you choose and why?

I hope you have a great time here and if you have any questions or need anything, feel free to PM me! :D

:smt001 Hi Ranger Hawk.
I haven't read anything from the Ranger's Apprentice series, but I will keep my eyes open for the books now - thanks. :) I also love Tim Burton's work.
Carly - your questions are not random at all :smt005
The first question is a tough one. It's been Eoin Colfer and JK Rowling... I'll have to get back to you on that one.
I think I'd hang out with P!nk for the day if I could.
If I could be any fruit, I would be a poison apple so that no one eats me!
My favourite baked good of choice is pies!
If I could have any super power, it would be the power of healing so that I can help people.

I'm going to look at the groups now
Thanks for everything!

Ooh! I like cross country too, and was in high jump (but not very good haha).
What's your mile time? I always ask fellow runners that question, hope you don't mind.
Buttered toast, yum! I agree on that part =P
So you like Jodi Picoult? I love her books! She's such an incredible writer :)

Hey Ela! Welcome! *hands cookies*

Oh, you haven't been shown the YWS rainbow! Well, here goes ...

Blue: The people with blue names (me, Selene, Flute and Carli) are Greeters! Greeters hang round the welcome forums and make sure that new members such as yourself get a great welcome onto YWS.

Purple: Instructors! They're some of the best reviewers that YWS can throw at you.

Light Green and Dark Green: Junior Mods (JMs) and Global Moderators (Mods) respectively. JMs moderate specific areas of the site and Mods do the same thing, but over all of YWS.

Red: Webmaster and junior admin. Nate, the webmaster, created this darn fine site you see before you.

Anyway, hope to see you around!

*high fives*
