Kamas!

It's an elephant! And such a lovely one. I admire the shading (although some of the lines can be seen), and the trunk, and the wise eyes. What is the black line behind the trunk? I'm guessing it's a strange-shaped shadow or something... because it doesn't look like a tusk, and I highly doubt it's the tongue... It's a very sweet drawing, though. I like elephants.

And I like the stress-relief painting a lot as well. It looks so symmetrical in a way, even though it's not. It's the way you positioned the different colours, I think. Or then your spontaneousity (is that a word?) is just very pedantic. Nothing like stress relief, especially when it's nice to look at.

Kammie I'm not going to comment on you doodles since they are doodles and much better than mine Your elephant or as Demi said in chat your epicphant is well epic although it's tusk looks sort of like a deflated balloon (sorry). And last but not least your purdy painting. I hope it got all your stress out. I give you an A for awesomeness.

Wow, what to say? You have talent, that's obvious, but you also know what angles and lighting work for each photos. Just watch your focus point. There was a picture (flower picture #2) was a bit blurry. I think if it was focused more the viewer could see the details better. Your elephant does look a bit angry, but I liked the details and the shading (I also have a deep love for cross-hatching). As you mentioned the ears were slightly off, but even animals are perfectly symmetrical. The doodles showed creativity, but the pink (I know - the lights) didn't do anything for it. I wouldv'e liked to see more of the colors. The painting I really did like. I love the colors and the motion it brings. Wonderful. Otherwise, I enjoyed your gallery and I'll be coming back for more.

I'm back! Okay, now, let's see what we have here. First off, yay! Drawings! You're really good at art. Second, nice fingernails.

Okay, on with the critique. I looked at real photos of elephants so I have half a clue what I'm doing here.

Elephant

The ears, yes, one is bigger than the other, but I never care about that sort of thing in other people's work; only mine. I like the wrinkles-- actually, you could stand a few more wrinkles and some more shading. That's my only complaint. There isn't enough shading.

I love his eyes! They look like they could trample me, but aren't going to because they belong to a big, just-going-on-my-happy-trail-of-life elephant! They do seem a bit angry, though. I don't know why.

His entire head should be way wider. This is the width of a cartoon baby elephant, not a real elephant. I can tell you weren't going for cartoon, but this seems that way because it isn't wide enough. Stretch it. Stretch it. It's seriously bugging me.

His trunk should be more connected to the rest of his face. The trunk doesn't start at the brow and then just dangle, just like a human nose doesn't start up high and dangle. From his eyes to wherever it stops on his chin, it's a big cylinder. No offense intended, but this looks like a piece of paper taped to his forehead.

Speaking of paper, at the end of his trunk, it doen't seem very cylinder-like to me. Just a note, it could use some work. Of course, I'm one to talk, considering I couldn't draw a bending cylinder to save my life... But, you know I rip things up and spit them out my ears. You asked for it.

Let's see. Oh, yeah, the first thing I noticed. He's missing an entire trunk. From this angle, you would be able to clearly see it. Very, very boldly. Almost as clearly as the other trunk. And the fact that his one trunk is black made me have to think of what it could be for a second. Yeah, the trunks could use some work.

The shading is incredible, except for in the ears. It looks very professional. I'd give you a pat on the back, but you'll have to do that for me. I love the shading. It is so easy to mess shading up, but you did a really good job.

Did you use a reference photo for this? There are parts which make me think you did, and then, there are parts which make me think you didn't.


Stress Relief

It... well, it's quite... to be honest, it looks like the ultimate condiment assortment. Ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, blueberry sauce stuff... Yummy. I like how you can see the texture in the photo, but otherwise? I looks like you just threw paint on canvas, as you did.

Hello! I'm Ben and this is the first time I've seen your works and what can I say? They're fabulous!

My favourite ones in the forum are the lovely oaks on the first page. You've truly made the most of your surroundings and picked some beautiful angles to show us. The solid oak is really flattering to the photo and I like the fact you've kept so much of the trunk in - it's brilliant. The experimental blur photo of the flower and brush, I'm going to have to disagree with some people and say I thought it was a success! Brilliant & Stunning aswell as making it slightly implicit so the viewer can decipher for themselves what it means to them - there's a real individuality here!

Your fat squirrel is ace! Enough said!

The flower photography is brilliant in the way you've used the light to bring out the most of the petal colours - it adds that perfect tip to your work. My personal favourite of the flowers is the one below your favourite, I love how you've captured the three hanging flowers and it looks so naturally beautiful.

Your doodle is fun and lively so I love it. Sure it's not a stunning piece, but it shows that you're extremely creative and sprucing with ideas, which I love!

Your elephant so far is fantastic! If I were to suggest something, I'd wonder if once you've finished the drawing, you would experiment with some blue acrylic as a background, I think that will make your work look bold and attractive.

Your stress relief painting gives us all something to relate to! The creative fun plur of paint in those times of stress and although you may not think it, it's one of my favourite of your pieces. This is because you've shown an emotional state through your work and its message is powerful and gripping like a good novel! I love it!

Overall - stunning work from a very talented & creative artist.

This is what I did all day when I wasn't working, I felt like drawing converses (so note that the picture I used the shape for is not mine). So I erased the features on the converses and jeans and started afresh, leaving only the outline of the jeans and converse. So my main focus was shading and colouring. Tell me what you think. Also another doodle!

:0 the converse picture. I adore it. Did you start it from scratch? I mean, without a photo to help you or to draw on? In that case, it's a super lovely picture and it's super lovely in any case, actually. I'm not sure if I like the blurriness, though, but that doesn't really matter. The green shoes are the exact same colour than the shirt I'm wearing at the moment

The doodle is great, too, but I can't really tell what it is... an angel? The photo should be bigger, I think. In any case, it looks very neat.

Hey again!
I'd just like to say that the converse is absolutely fantastic to look at! The thick, bright colours and pop-art shading make the work look brilliant! I love the way the jeans have a more blurry feel to them - it makes the whole thing appear more surreal!

Anyway as ever the doodles are well executed and you have a hand for fine drawing. Lovely features as well and I really take to the mystery of it!

Converses:

This makes me giggle. I really like this! It took me a while to actually notice the sweet thing going on, because I was just in love with the cartoon shoes. Okay, I'll try to critique this.

So blurry! Almost the only thing in focus is the white side. The part with no focus point. Everything is a big blur. Blur, blur, blur, except the shoelaces. I have glasses, so I'm used to, when things are blurry, squinting and pushing my glasses up my nose and all sorts of other quirks. It annoys the heck out of my brain when I can’t focus. We already have the cartoon style, so blurring things like an oil painting just makes things frustrating. Did you redo a photo, or is this Photoshop or something?

And… I don't like the ground. It seems too “real” or computer generated for this piece. If you had made that part a cartoon, too, this would be quite a bit better.

That’s all I got, sad to say. I really love these two pieces.

Green converse... My friend has black... And her two-year-old sister has pink... I don't think I've ever seen green! It's cool!



Winged Anime:

Oh, sweet giblets. Whoa. That is seriously amazing. I've neglected critiquing this (I checked your thread before you asked me to review your new pieces ) because I can't find anything wrong, but nothing's perfect, right? Right. Right...

Well, her hair defies gravity. At first, it goes down towards the bottom of the paper, but then it goes horizontal with her head, and then it goes up the page like she’s moving forward. No amount of hairspray could accomplish that.

Also, she really doesn’t have a head. A face, a neck, cute shirt… No skull. If you could define the jaw, it’d help.

Those are the best wings I have ever seen. No joke. I really haven’t seen better, except for stuff by the master artists from 500 years ago. Equal, maybe, but I haven’t seen better. And the proportions are simply incredible.




I like being harsh. I don't know why, but I really enjoy pointing out the things wrong with imperfect things. These are so dang close to perfect, I just want to stare, not review. You have done an amazing job, Kamas. If I could give you more than one gold star, I would. Beautiful.

Wow. How did you ever get your camera to take in that low light? I'd expect this to be one huge blur! Let's see now.

If this had been a river instead of a lake, or even a really long lake so there would be less rooftop distracting us from the water, it would be so cool. The silhouettes in the back are so big, I have to focus to notice the water because my eyes are focusing on the pink. Of course, there's nothing you can do about that. It's the builder's fault.

Also, if you had taken this when the sun was still visible, even a little bit, I think that less blue and more color would have drawn our eye a little more. Just a little more color, not too much.

Everything nicely balanced, the lake looks like it formed naturally (the only lake I have acess to is obviously man-made), the houses are pretty, the currant, the shadows, the reflections... I love it, but it could stand more color.

My camera would never have let me take something like that. It would have demanded a two minute exposure or something. I'm amazed you got this.

Sorry for this not being very long, I'm half in a rush, half not finding anything to review here. I should've waited until you posted this to make my last review longer, huh?
