Hello there, a pleasure to meet you, I'm sure. This place seems the best place to start here, I never know what to write in these things but this place seems like fun, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it after a while! About myself, um, I'm sixteen year old girl, live in a village nestled deep in the English countryside and haven't been writing for particularly long but I enjoy it.

Hi Birdie, welcome to YWS I'm Sarah or peanut whichever you prefer. So this site is amazing as I'm sure you have already figured out but there are a few rules.

*NO CAPS. PLEASE DON'T USE THEM IT'S LIKE YOU ARE SCREAMING. Also no chat speak: no1 likes 2 read wen its written like dis. This is a writer's site. I mean really. In chat there are some exceptions you can say brb and lol but only in chat.
*Review other people's work. This will get you more reviews and it will help out other people. We ask that you try to review three works for every one you post.
*Rate your work, please. It's like a movie some people want to know if it should be rated R.
*And have fun

Hey Birdie, welcome to YWS!

You might have noticed how some people have different colored names here. Well Black is just the regular users. Blue is the Greeters, (moi), our job is to greet all the newbies and make them feel welcome. The Purple people are the Instructors. Their job is to critique and answer any and all questions about writing. (Although, everyone is encouraged to do this, the Instructors are the experts). Light Green are the Junior Moderators. They moderate one area of the site white the Moderators moderate then entire site. The Administrators have complete control over everything on the site. Orange is for distinguished members. These are members that once contributed a lot to the sit but no longer have the time to fulfill all of their duties.
You can apply to be a Greeter or Instructor after you've been on the site for three months.

So....now on to my favorite portion. The really hard questions.

What kind of music do you listen to? If you were a piece of furniture, what kind would you be and why? What is your favorite kind of ice cream? What is your favorite kind of food? To answer your questions I write both poetry and prose, neither very well but I hope to improve! I am a complete novice at poetry, though, although I enjoy it.
My favorite author at the moment, anyway, is probably Meg Roseoff. She's a recent discovery for me but I really love her stuff! And my favorite colour is a kind of blue grey, like the sea. It changes often xD

Music I listen to, a variety of stuff really. Against my expectations I really like Lady Gaga at the moment, the Artic Monkeys are good and Yelle. More, but my mind always goes blank when I'm asked that question xD
If I were a piece of furniture I think I would be a ... picture frame or a painting. I like the idea of just hanging around watching people! My favorite ice cream is probably chocolate. Simple but really awesome and my favorite food is pasta, I think. If I was a marine biologist I would study Dugongs or sharks. I've always had an interest in sharks, I don't know why. If I could choose a superpower it would time travel simply because I love history!

We are glad you've joined the creative side! Writing is awesome fun.

England, huh? I've only ever been for a few hours (stop over on a flight) but it seems like a really nice place. What's the country-side like? I have a rather romantic image of rolling hills, little cottages and old castles so I could do with a dose of reality.

What kind of genre do you like to write?

This site is definitely a lot of fun, try not to get too addicted.

My big tip to you is this: review, review, review! The ratio is 1:3 (for every one thing you post, you must review three others), but if you have the patience and the interest then I encourage you to do more. Everyone likes getting feedback and often enough people will return the favor. Not to mention it helps you make friends and improve your own writing.

Remember to rate your work! New works that are rated appear on the front page for everyone to see, which greatly improves your chances of someone reviewing it.

So you like Lady GG eh? Haha, my username is based off one of her songs. Was in a 'phase' at that time, plus I heart dancing!

So any favorite books? I like many, My Sister's Keep definitely at the top. So sad, had be bawling.
