Moonchanger

"Back of bloodsucker, we won't harm him. If the alhpess says we won't, we won't." I got close to the vampire and hissed, "Or do you not trust purebreed killers?"
"No, I'm more worried about the weak halfbreeds getting hurt," the vampire said coldly. I flinched. "I'm not a half breed, I'm a werewolf, I am part of a clan, unlike your so called brother here."

"P-prisoner?" Paul stuttered.

Reuben met the alpha's eyes. "How do I know he'll be looked after?"

"I gave you my word," Layla growled. "If that's not enough for you-"

"Take me too."

"Excuse me?"

"I want to make sure he's treated properly."

"You will not set foot in our camp you impossible draining-"
Layla cut me off. "We shall do as the vampire wishes, thogh he won't be staying long,"
My mouth dropped. No, she couldn't do this!

Reuben smirked at Moonchanger. "Looks like you've been overruled."

"If you're smart, you'll be quiet," the alpha said sharply. Reuben gave her a calculating look but fell silent.

"Wh-what's going to happen to me?" Paul asked, trying to keep the trembling in his voice to a minimum.

(( Can wolves have slight powers? Tell me if Sharona wouldn't be able to do this. I just figured that as she was an elder - that might be quite nice. ))

Sharona

Something was happening. Rayen, Layla and Moonchanger had found something. Sharona closed her eyes and pressed her head to the ground, trying to see more clearly what was happening. She whimpered and scratched the dirt with her claws. Come on!
"Sharona?" Anne nudged her shoulder timidly, "what's wrong? What is it?"
I breathed in deeply and relaxed my stance. I started to trot forwards and Anne followed me; then I turned around and started going back the way we came.
"Sharona? We still have a little way to go."
I just shook my head and carried on running, we had to go back to camp. Then I decided that Anne deserved to know, I shouldn't hide anything from anyone. I started to speak while running.
"Layla, Rayen and Moonchanger have found something. Two brothers. And they're bringing them back to camp."
Her eyes widened, "vampires?"
"I don't know!" I growled in fustration as we burst back into the camp.

((Ok?))
"It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want."

((Yeah Aqua, that was great :) I should've included you guys more in that, I just didn't know how you would want to act in it.. sorry :( ))

Layala:

So, the vampire wanted to come with his brother. This would really be interesting. We ran into Sharona and Anne a moment before we entered our camp.

"What in the world, Layla," Sharona asked, bewildered.

"I've got quite a story for you, my elder," I replied, my snout breaking out in a terrible grin.

I growled with frustration. Couldn't Layla see the mistake she was making? The vampire would know where our camp was! He could send millions of vampires to our home! We weren't ready for combat yet!

I growled softly as Moonchanger, I wanted to hear what had happened. Before Layla began, I transformed back into human form and approached the two men standing before us. I circled them both slowly, sniffing to see if there was a sign of anything amiss (sp?).
They were obviously brothers, one was a vampire and the other a human. I didn't look at them too much now, there would be time for that later.
I turned away and walked back to Layla.
"Let's go to the camp and you can tell everyone what happened."
She nodded her assent and we lead the motley group into the clearing.
"So, tell us Layla. What's the story?"

Layla:

"Apparently brotherly love can survive the transformation," I said snidely.

"It was a touching scene really," Rayen said, giggling slightly. The vampire puffed up angrily and snarled.

"Are you in any position to snarl?" I snapped at him. Sharona looked uneasy about this.

Reuben's face twisted bitterly at the alpha's reprimand. If his brother hadn't wanted to do all his stupid studies in the first place, they wouldn't be in this mess. Both of them would be at home, and he'd still be human. No horrible cravings keeping him from his family, no loneliness...

Paul stiffened when Sharona circled the two of them. He started walking when they told him to

I growled as the pack threw sharp looks at me. As if I would ever want a filthy blood sucker in our camp, just because I was different. No, I wouldn't think like that. I was a werewolf, and I was loyal to the clan.
"Layla, why did we have to bring him? Why won't you listen to me?" I growled, but I realized my mistake. I shouldn't have growled at the alpha.
"You will learn better to hold your tounge before you speak Moonchanger. I am the alphess, not you."
"This is just because I'm different isn't it? You won't listen to me!" I yelled, and suddenly I had everyone's attention. "Can't you see what a mistake you made! He knows where we reside now, how do you know he won't bring his buddies after we let him go?"
Everyone was silent, and I could see fury in Layla's eyes.
"I try and prove myself, Alphess, but do you know what? You won't let me. If I do something right, you just brush it aside. But when it really matters...you won't even let me try. Am I right?"

Layla:

Moonchanger had taken the entire attention of the pack, but I knew better than to take my eyes of the vampire and the human.

"Watch them Rayen, I've got emotional matters to attend to," I hissed. Rayen nodded and stood watching the vampire attently. Then, I switched my own attention to Moonchanger.

"Moonchanger," I said slowly, "You won't let yourself join the pack." I was walking slowly around her now, my tail twitching slowly, my eyes locked on her body that trembled with anger. She went to say something, but I cut her off.

"You think that we don't listen to you, because you're different. Well, if you let go of whatever difference you believe you have, then no one would second guess you. You are second guessing yourself. I do not listen to you, because you're not ready to let go of whatever burden you believe you carry. Well guess what, there is no need to prove yourself to us. All you're trying to do is prove yourself, to yourself," I said harshly. The entire pack, beside Rayen of course, looked at Moonchanger for a response.

My body shook. I didn't want to believe Layla. I knew there had to be some wolves that didn't think I was pack worthy, the vampires definetly thought I wasn't a real vampire. My tail drooped and I looked down at the dirt beneath my feet.
I didn't have a reply. I couldn't let...let emotion get to me. I looked up at the mighty alphess and breathed a sigh. "I'm sorry Alphess, but...don't you see what this bloodsucker will do? Please don't tell me you can't see that," I whispered.

Layla:

I smiled softly at Moonchanger. Her heart truly was pure. I could clearly see her point of the argument.

"We can always change camps, Moonchanger. And if we know where the vampires are, we can attack them first. If the human or the vampire escape, we can easily hunt them down and kill them,' I said turning my head towards that two.

I looked at Paul. I could see fear in his eyes. I knew we could change camps..but why bother? Why not just kill them now?

The bigger the issue, the smaller you write. Remember that. You don’t write about the horrors of war. No. You write about a kid’s burnt socks lying on the road. You pick the smallest manageable part of the big thing, and you work off the resonance.
— Richard Price
