Falconstrike

The sudden blackness swept over her in an instant, her eyes rolling upwards as her knees gave way. She was swallowed by the pain-free darkness in an instant and made no attempt to fight it. Soon she was lost in strange dreams, swimming in unfamiliarity. Some distorted images flashed over her eyelids; mostly from the fight with Mynah. If she had have been awake she would have been grinning. He owed her, big time. And she planned on getting paid back for it.

Her eyes shot open. Sunlight cracked between the buildings as the flash of blue lights almost blinded her. Around her, the yells of her friends made her head throb hard against her ears. She felt someone reach for her arm, instinctively she pulled away.

"Not goin' teh hosssspitaaaal," she mumbled, pushing them away.

Java/Flux

Marrow had joined the fight now. Together we began attacking Metal Canary, driving her back and forward between us. It felt uncomfortable being in the majority, it was an advantage and it wouldn't be a proper win.
Oh well, I'd asked for some help.
The sun started to rise, it's rays reflecting off Canary's armour and momentarily blinding me.
She took the chance and lept forward, biting into my neck alarmingly. Marrow soon managed to get her off, hitting her with his bone arm and shooting bullets from his other.
But the fight was pretty much over - it was morning now and I needed to leave.
It looked like the others did too, we all backed away from each other and ran. I shouted a quick thanks to Marrow's departing back before I changed into a hawk and began the flight home.

--------------------------------

I crawled into bed and pulled the covers up. It was Saturday now - I had to go to work at the corner shop in 3 hours. I groaned and closed my eyes.

**Sorry it's bad. Just trying to finish it.**

((That's cool, Aqua. We've just got to wait for Falconstrike to either get to hospital or run, I guess, and for the others around her to finish up. If everyone's next post could lead into Saturday, that'd be good.))

Dalia/ Mistique

I glanced over and saw the sun rising. I quickly snuck off as people focused on shoving Falconstrike the last block to the hospital as two others up ahead where carrying Electrum through the doors. I ran once I was out of sight and whipped off my mask as I snuck in the back door.

I crawled in bed, costume and all and sighed contentedly as I fell asleep.
I will review for you! PM about it if you need one!

Right I was dead with the cold these past few days and I made a mistake with my character, he's actually a villain..... I will start the next day to get my character introduced.

Mark\Plague

I flicked through the news paper while eating my toast, noting that there was an exhibition in a local museum on ancient Egypt I circled it with a thick red pen and se the newspaper down. I figured that the security wasn't going to be that good and that there was going to be gold, Egyptian artifacts were selling well on the black market recently. It looked like a job for 'Plague'.
Looking at the time I decided to get ready to go to the museum.

((Bonnie, I've already PMed you, but it's Saturday in the timeline, so Mark wouldn't be at school. Sorry to everyone that I haven't been posting! School's been pretty bad, and I was away this weekend. Trying to breathe some life into this.))

Cara/Death

Thank goodness for Saturday. Cara flipped her pillow, catching a quick glimpse of the balaclava that still lay underneath it. She'd have to hide that later.

Usually, Saturdays were the most uninteresting part of her week. School gave Cara a purpose, even if it seemed pointless, but she was left to her own devices at the weekend and Cara had quickly realised that she didn't do well with activities. Often she would just lounge in her bed, doing her homework and watching TV until night came and she could don her costume. This weekend, though, she was glad to be Cara, to have space from the group of people she met every night and from that guy - Ghost. Cara had none of these things to worry about.

Then she remembered Java, and she realised things were a bit more complicated than that.

"Cara! Run down to the corner shop, will you? I need some flour!"

It was her mother, but then, who else would it be? Cara's father had cleared off even before Rose had been born, and hadn't made an appearance at the funeral. Cara's mother had boyfriends, but none for longer than a few months. She was more interested in her various hobbies, the latest of which were baking. Cara always thought she'd tried everything, but there was always something else. It helped keep her on task and cheerful, though, so Cara didn't complain. She had her superhero work, Mum had baking. It kept their minds off Rose.

Sometimes.

The corner shop was just there - on the corner, down the road from Cara's house. She went in and flinched as the buzzer sounded to announce her presence, grabbing a packet of flour from the shelf. She walked over to the counter and slammed down a few coins with the packet.

"You're £1 short," the man behind the counter said, and Cara suddenly looked up.

It wasn't a man behind the counter. It was Java.

Java

My alarm sounded way too early. I rolled over and groaned, wincing when my neck started to throb with pain. Ouch. I sat up, rubbing my eyes and stretched out my arms. Saturday. I liked Saturdays, I would work and then I would run. It was nice not to have the relentless boredom of school weighing down on me. Today, however, I was dissapointed; I wanted to talk to Cara, get some more information and work out what I was going to do.

But that would wait.

I rolled out of bed quickly and got dressed. I ran downstairs, grabbed a piece of toast and got out the front door in about five minutes. Skills, I thought; laughing to myself.

I took my usual place behind the counter and waited for someone to come in the door. I didn't look when the bell rang, I was trying to tie up my apron thing which has got caught. Of course, when I did look up it was somewhat of a surprise, Cara!
She didn't look at me and I wondered if she'd even noticed. I leant forward.
"You're one pound short." I said quietly.
She looked up startled and the look on her face made me laugh. She was so shocked!
I leant forward and winked at her conspiratally.
"You know, being a superhero doesn't mean you shouldn't support the local community. I mean, you gotta work and pay taxes like everybody else. You should have to pay the full amount for a bag of flour too."
I broke off and tried to look thoughtful without laughing.
"Or maybe you could put it on expenses, yeah? We could say that not having flour would be detrimental to your power!"
I leant even closer to her.
"Or maybe, you just think that I'll give you money off because you're my friend. Scammer."
"It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want."

((Wouldn't usually post back-to-back, but I think it'll help get things going.))

Cara/Death

"Or maybe, you just think that I'll give you money off because you're my friend. Scammer."

Java was so close to her now that Cara could feel his breath on her cheek.

"Since when were we friends? Colleagues, sure. Acquaintances, maybe," Cara corrected, only realising as she said it that she sounded more stuck-up than ever. The twinkle in Java's eyes seemed altogether unaffected, though.

"Jeez, Cara," he muttered, winking again, "what's a guy to do?"

Cara flushed a little, and then wondered why. She fished around in her pocket and produced another coin.

"Here, just take the money, why don't you? I'll have the flour." She took a breath and reached for the flour, trying to ignore the idea that was forming in her mind. Java was about to turn away; it was now or never. "Hey, if you want, we could go see a movie or something later. I mean, you don't have to, but I need something to do to take my mind off Ghost and what happened earlier... Yeah. I suppose we can talk about that, since I haven't told the team yet, if you don't want to go to a movie? You don't have to, I mean, you don't -"

Kara/Electrum

When Electrum woke up she was in a hospital bed, with a small amount of electrical power running through her veins. Her head was throbbing. She saw that there was a bandage wrapped around her shoulder. Her heart skipped a beat and she reached up and felt her face. She felt her mask there. She sighed in relief. There was an IV sticking out of her arm.

She looked at it for a second, then looked around the room. It was empty. She tore the IV from her arm and got out of the bed. Her shoulder instantly began throbbing, but she ignored it. There was some machinery by the bed. She put both of her hands on it and closed her eyes. She pulled the electricity from it. The lights flickered. She left it there. There were many people in the hospital that depended on the hospital's machinery and electricity to live.

Electrum realized that she was wearing a hospital gown. Where would they put my outfit? She walked over to a closet. There was some blankets, but no disguise. She went to another closet. There it was. Folded neatly on top of a pillowcase. She hurriedly changed into it.

The hospital hadn't woken up yet, so she left the room and walked down to the ground floor, ignoring the stinging in her shoulder. She left a note at the reception desk and left.

She got home in about fifteen minutes, and climbed through her window. She changed into pajamas and collapsed onto her bed. Soon she was asleep.

***

A few hours later Kara woke up starving. She got out of bed and headed towards the door, only to trip and fall flat on her face. Her eyes began to water as she sat up, rubbing her nose. There was a box sitting in the middle of the floor. Kara scowled and climbed to her feet, depositing the box on her bed before going downstairs.

After having some cereal and orange juice she headed back upstairs and got dressed. I'm going for a walk. She headed back downstairs and out the door.

** Same, but I am bored as xD **

I started to turn away, if she didn't want to talk then I wouldn't keep her any longer.

I froze halfway and spun back round, placing my hands back on the counter. Did Cara just ask me to the cinema? Death. The cold one. Going to the cinema?
She looked like she'd regretted asking, her cheeks flushed a little and she started to turn around. I caught her arm before she could walk away. I laughed.
"Course I'll come! I haven't been to the cinema in ... ages."
She smiled. "Cool, so - "
Another customer walked up to the till and we were forced to stop talking for a second while I served him. When he'd left I turned back to Cara.
"So, I'm guessing you're a chick flick kinda girl then? Maybe a cute rom-com with some sad bits?!"

Cara/Death

For a moment, Cara thought she'd have to leave town again, but this time she wasn't sure if she'd be able to come back. Then Java gave a nervous laugh.

"So, I'm guessing you're a chick flick kinda girl then? Maybe a cute rom-com with some sad bits?!" His voice went a little higher at the end, reassuring Cara that maybe he was as nervous as she was. Perhaps less so, though, because this was the first time Cara'd been to the cinema for over a year, let alone on a date. Wait, was this a date?

"Actually, yeah, sometimes," she said, smiling a little. "Sci-fi's more up my street, but I don't think there's anything good on. You choose, I don't mind." I don't mind. When had been the last time she'd said that?

"How about we choose when we get there?" Java seemed at a bit of a loss as to what to say. Cara felt herself slipping back towards the comforting arms of impassionate Death, but she restrained herself. Cara had to do something sometime.

"Yeah, that's fine, that's fine. If you have work though... Don't feel you have to come... Not that I don't want you to, but don't think you have to come because we have to be friends or anything, because I know about you... your identity..." She was making it worse, she was sure of it.
