Suddenly I heard voices. Muffled, but still there. I shook myself out of my wallowing and closed my eyes, concentrating on their voices. I didn't hear anything, but I felt tension in the air. Not anything unusual, but it was closer and stronger than the normal tension of the city. I got up and walking along until I felt the tension come to a peak. I opened my eyes and found myself staring down an alley, three Witchers standing there.

The Witcher's hands sketched out something in the air, I didn't know what. Before I could respond, there was a noise from the shadows. I span round and saw a human standing there.
Before anyone could do anything, I quickly read her mind and found what I needed. I felt another presence in her mind and realised one of the other Witchers was reading it too. The female. I smiled at her uncertainly.
The human was scared of us, she was thinking about someone, but she wasn't a threat. I didn't think she meant us any harm.
We both stopped reading her mind and I smiled at her before turning to the others.
"What should we do with her? She isn't dangerous, but she could tell someone."
"It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want."

The newcomer smiled at me. "What should we do with her? She isn't dangerous, but she could tell someone." I felt a small twinge of jealousy. It was so hard for me, not being able to speak. There was so many things I wanted to say. I began motioning with my hands again. 'We could keep her with us.' I seriouly hoped that this person understood sign language. I certainly wasn't going to touch anyone with my mind unless I had to.

**I am saving this baby! As requested by Gasper. And because I'm cool xD**

Frankie

I grimaced, the girl was signing at me. I'd learnt it once before - I'd gone on a "quest" for knowledge and read it out of someone's mind. But I hadn't practised since and the girl was going way to fast for me to keep up.
Very slowly, I signed in the air. Slow down. I am very slow at this. What did you say?
I knew that I could just say it, but signing it seemed so much more appropriate.

**Thanks AM. :D**

Jessi

I was relieved that this person could understand sign language. 'We could keep her with us.' My hands had slowed considerably. I was perfectly capable of speaking to her with my mind, but I wasn't willing to open myself up to her yet. The only reason that I had touched the mind of my rescuer was that he had saved my life.

I shook my head, trying to find out what had just happened. I had rescued a girl, who was deaf but could communicate with people through telepathy, then other people had showed up out of no where!

"What's going on, what are you saying?"

Jessi spoke to me through her mind, "I'm saying we should all go together."

"She says we should take the girl with us" another girl added in.

I considered replying 'i know' but that would be weird.

"Well, if there are no objections, can we leave?"

I was about to agree when I heard someone come into the alley. I stiffened and turned. No... But I would have recognized that person anywhere. I shook as the slave master came into view. He didn't seem to have notice the others. He grinned at me. It was a twisted sick grin that made my skin crawl. "Thought you could get away from us did you? No. You're coming back with me, and we'll teach you a lesson or two." He continued advancing. I swallowed. I was out of practice, but maybe... I looked up. There was something. A metal shutter that was hanging onto the edge of a window by just a bolt or two. Just a little nudge at just the right moment... He was right under it. I closed my eyes.

Snap! The shutter dropped from the window and hit the slave master on the head. He fell on the ground. His head was oozing blood. I stumbled backwards as I felt some of the little energy that I had leave me.

Adam Smith

Knock knock knock.

A warden cracked the gate open slightly. "Yeah?" he drawled. "What is it?"

Adam didn't look up from his clipboard. "I'm here about some escaped slaves."

"Can I see some ID?"

He reached into his pocket and pulled out an ID badge. "Adam Smith, with your local GMC."

"Oh, we've been waiting for you." He let Adam in.

I stared at the man, blood trickling from his head, then back at the Witcher. She was shaking, and the feel of fear was stronger. I could practically see it seeping from her pores. I put my hands down, reigning in the magic I was about to waste on this thick-headed man. And for a girl I'd never met before.

"Um, excuse me?" I asked them, my voice thin and scratchy from lack of use. They turned towards me. "My name is Emelie. Who are you?"

I would like to join too. Finally a storybook that seems to be moving!
Also, mind if I have 2 characters? I can't decide which would be more entertaining and beneficial to the story...

If two is possible, here are both of their descriptions

CHARACTER PALETTE

Name: Abe McMann

Race (Witcher, Human): Human

Gender: Male

Age: 32

Appearance:Looks well past his prime. As a result of using too much Magic, Abe looks like he is in at least his late fifties. His hair, or the lack of, is white and cropped short. He has a buzz cut to hide the fact he is nearly entirely bald. His face is adorned with wrinkles and has a thick 5 0'clock salt and pepper beard.

Personality: He is prudent and choleric. After the murder of both his younger brothers, who happened to be witchers (Is that possible by the way, a human and a witcher being family?) Abe has gone a little off the deep end. With an unquenchable bloodlust, he will not rest until every last member of the PMC responsible for his brothers' death has fallen to the same fate. However, he tries his best to fill the empty holes in his heart. His brothers were all he had, as he was all they had, and he tries his best to fill those missing holes. He is very paternal, (despite not being the best father figure) and tries to be someone to be looked up to.

Likes: Revenge, succeeding, lots and lots of death. :)

Dislikes: Causing those around him pain, putting others at risk, doing things without thinking them through.

History: After the death of his two younger brothers, Adam (15) and Jasper (7), he became a bit deranged. He left home, and all his possessions behind, besides his fathers matching pistols and the clothes on his back and hit the road.

Powers(all strengths, also put anything magical in here): He has made himself into his own personal compass. He has a tattoo, (which he did himself) upon his wrist. When he concentrates, the ink will move in his arm, and point in the direction of the nearest PMC officer responsible for his brothers' deaths.

Other:If I could include a weakness section, sometimes he sees his brothers' ghosts. However, to add to the others. He is a bit of a outdoorsmen. He loves to be in the open, he prefers it to confined spaces and homes. As long as he has the protection of his wide brimmed hat and enough dry wood to make a fire, he is at home.
http://media.animegalleries.net/albums/userpics/76335/ow.jpg Here's a picture of his brothers (And Jaden. Obviously this is a figment of his imagination, [or a delusion from the insanity of so much magic,] but either way, Jasper is the smallest, Jaden is the one with ears and a tail, Jasper is the one being beaten on.

CHARACTER #2

CHARACTER PALETTE

Name: Pann

Race (Witcher, Human): Witcher

Gender: Male

Age: 12

Appearance:Has long mangy black hair. It is shaggy and textured, kind of all over the place. His skin, like all witcher's is unnaturally pale, with bright green eyes, that seem to be golden when the light hits them correctly. He is very thin,-- and is built like he has lived on the streets all his life. One last important details, he has dark brown ears and tails of a fox. (In the picture he has paws, but for clarification, he most certainly does not!)

Personality: He is Naive (does anyone know how to make the double dot naive requires?) And yearns for adventure constantly. Despite the challenges life has thrown him, he somehow finds the best of all things and is always happy. He can be a bit of a menace from time to time, but always finds a way to get his own laugh out of everything. This has gotten him into trouble more than once, but he always seems to be able to slip out of trouble.

Likes: Mischievous deeds, stealing, pulling pranks upon people. The moon. Shiny things.

Dislikes: When he gets in trouble from Abe, or when Abe sends him to bed while the moon his out.

History:Looking so different from everyone else, he was doomed from birth. As a young child, his parents kept him a secret, and told everyone who knew of his mothers pregnancy that he was a miscarriage. He was kept seperate from the world, never seeing outside his nursery walls while he was within his parents custody. However, when he was five, his parents took off on him, leaving him alone in his room with no knowledge of what had happened. After a few days of solitude he left his nursery, and discovered a new world, full of other people for him to play with. He has little memory of his childhood besides his name is Pann, (notice no last name) and the color of the wallpaper of his nursery.

Powers(all strengths, also put anything magical in here): He is very similar to an animal. His survival instincts are extremely keen, along with all of his sense of smell and hearing. He is extremely agile and nimble, and can seem to balance upon nearly anything.

Other: Abe has taken over his role as a father figure. Abe discovered Pann when he was 10, (Two years ago) attempting to steal an apple from his pack. After a strict scolding to, Abe went on along his way, in search of another PMC member. However, he soon discovered Pann following him. Despite his efforts, Abe could not shake Pann and after learning Pann's story they immiedately became travelling companions. Ever since, they have been inseperable.
