Evelynne Marie Sky~Rebel~Duty

I hugged my jacket closer to my body, glancing around casually to make sure nobody was looking. After seeing that it was good to go, I focused on my power within. Bringing the invisibility out to shield myself from the security of the bank. Quickly, I ran into the bank, watching out for people bustling to get out.

A worker was just going into the employees only door, a smirk pulled at my lips and I sprinted through the door. The old man took a swig of his black coffee and looked up at the huge vault. Setting his coffee down, he pushed the combination this way and that and finally it clicked and the bars rotated out of the way slowly. It finally moved to show another door, which he had to pull an identification card out for. I smiled knowing how easy this would be.

The door pushed open and revealed the stacks of money, my heart fluttered with delight. I ran inside and collected at least twenty stacks of one hundred dollar bills. As always I had to make sure the employee didn't suspect anything unusual. When he scratched his scalp and continued doing his work, I went back through the door and had the money without anybody seeing me.

When I got through the doors of the bank, I made a dash to my old truck and put the money into a secret compartment under the passenger seat. Unveiling my invisibility when i was finished I had to make a long sigh a slink down in my seat feeling very accomplished. I put the truck into gear letting the roar sooth me that it was over and done with.

I made the long drive back to the company, they were hidden among a little community. I drove up to the dilapidated building and parked it, stuffing the money into my large bag. I threw the bag over my shoulder and hopped out of my car, walking proudly into the building. It was dead looking on the inside, but I looked at the deserted desk and walked behind it. Pressing a button shaped as a piece of drag-looking wood, the floor beneath me began to move down.

At the bottom the sound of phones ringing, people writing, and the sweet smell of success greeted me.

"Ahh, good to see that your trip satisfied you, Miss Marie. May I see the money you acquired?" Robert asked me with a smile. I handed him the bag with a grin, and walked over to chat with my friend Derrick.

"Hey Derrick, how was your day?" I asked, still smiling. He chuckled and looked at me as if i was crazy.

"Oh it was good, looks like yours was better-" He said before being interrupted by the shouting of robert.

"...Goodness by the life of Zeus, how did you get all this!?" He shouted with glee. I simply smiled, and just shrugged.

"It was nothing really..." I said, my insides bursting with achievement.

"Man, the families recieving this will be overcome with joy! You may take the rest of the week off Eve, I mean it!" Robert said, taking the money to his office to send to families and roam the town for homeless.

"Well, don't i have time. I'll see you around Derrick." I said, waving at him as I grabbed my bag and went back the way i came.

Driving felt so easy now, that i knew where the money was going. I went back to my house in the woods, trekking through the brush and happily scratching Dilly behind his ears.

At last, things were fitting into place.

"So, kids what have we learned today?" I asked them all, taking a bite into my granny apple. Aidan raised his hand as always and said, "Well I learned that a lot of people died during the civil war."

"I learned that all people should be equal." A boy around the age of twelve said. I bounced the toddler in my arms to position her more comfortably. I nodded and looked at the other kids. So many came in and out, I always wished that i could see where my old ones went and how they were. It always amazed me at how smart and bright some were.

"Alright class we are done for today, who wants a snack?" I said, with a grin. The giddy girl in my arms clapped and giggled. I laughed and headed for the kitchen with little ones going around my feet it was hard to walk.

I sat the runt onto a blanket in the dining room and told Aidan to watch her. I opened one of the many fridges taking out some fruits, grapes, apples, oranges, and such. Grabbing paper bowls I made an assortment for each child.

"Here you go Lilac. Here Thomas. Here Gabriel. Hope you all like it." Passing out the bowls of fruit. The elder children snatched their bowls and hurried out of my way as the younger ones crowded around trying to get some.

"Hey! That's mine!" Oliver yelped at Lilac. I sighed and told Oliver she was too little to understand. He smiled angelically and walked away silently.

Aidan still sat staring at Hope the youngest out of the bunch. I got two more fruit bowls and brought them over to the blanket and the chatter in the dining room got louder.

"Mom, do you know how babies are made?" Aidan asked wide eyed still examining Hope. I laughed and thought to myself, Wow didn't think i'd have to explain this so soon.

"Storks of course. That's how i got you, a stork dropped you into my arms and you had the cutest smile too!" I said, knowing he wouldn't buy it.

"Mother, I know it's not storks!" He said in a defying tone.

"Well, you'll just have to wait until your older munchkin." I said, poking his nose. He smiled, and shrugged.

"Alright mom, if you say so." He had gotten better with talking with his voice then with his mind.

Man, they grown up so fast.

Aidan Raye Leslie~Loyalty~Orphanage

Mother had always liked keeping things from me, but I knew more than she thought. I didn't want to make her worry with all the things i knew. Gaining wisdom from past experiences in other lives, yes as a shadow I remembered them. Which is why I am so smart and bright as my mom says.

She always tried to tell me lies when i already knew the truth, but I would never explain to her that I already did. She is human, humans don't need to know what i know.

I examined the little hands and feet of Hope, the littlest kid in the orphanage. They were so tiny compared to my much bigger ones, I had always thought it weird of the way we were detailed in this world. I had been in many forms before but this one was the most intricate.

"Mom, do you know how babies are made?" I asked already knowing the answer. I always liked hearing what her head could come up with.

Ahhh, yayy i'm finally settled into the story (:

I pulled my White doctors coat on over my black jumper. Quickly I brushed my hair out of my eyes and walked into AaE were their were several cases that were going untreated by the understaffed hospital. My friend and ex boyfriend Jason called me over, he was a male nurse.

"what have got here" I said running over to Jason who was desperately trying to seal a wound that was gushing blood.

"beaten by police he was at some protest or something" Jason said wiping his bloody hand on his scrubs.

"I mean whats his condition Jason" I said not being to angry, their were only twenty nurses in the whole hospital that meant most of them had to work shifts of three days or more.

"severe internal bleeding Doctor Strenzy made and opening in between the lungs to reduce pressure on them but he must of hit an artery or something" Jason said. I didn't like Stenzy he was barbaric, most of the time his methods did actually work. Still he was barbaric, when the soldiers came he would tell them wish patients had the least chance of survival and those patients would be shot stone dead. A splatter of blood plastered across my face bringing me back to the situation.

"okay take him the surgical team" I said but Jason shook his head.

"can't soldiers came and drafted them into the military medical squad" Jason said grimly. I flew my hands up dam military they come here and tell us what a bad job were doing, well of cource were doing bad we have half are supplies stolen or sold off to the Loyalties. Then on top of that they steal are finest docters and Nurses.

"Charlie honey what do you want me to do" Jason said knowing what I was going to say.

"put him in the back with the other, you knows" I said not being abel to use the nickname that those who were taken to the back were called. I felt warm tears coming to my eyes. No I sad to myself Charlie you've been through worse than this remeber when you first started working here and their were soildiers shotting people at first glance if they looked to sick to be healed. I tried to comfort my self with the awful memories but they just made my tear come faster.

"Charlie quick move" I heard Jason shout as the sound tick tock bombs sound. Tick tock bombs were a very cheap type of powerful explosive that the south americans had used to destroy most of chicago and part of new york. The metal missile crached in front of the building and the ticking stopped. I turned to run as and explosion ripped through the doors. A blast of heat hit me and I felt my feet leave the floor. My stomack lurched seeing the floor or was it the wall come flying towards me. Their was a sharp click as my hand broke when I hit the wall. Then it went black.

*maybe someone else in new york could see the explosion and go and help or something*

Tobias ~ Civilian ~ June 13th

He sipped his coffee, eyes wide as he watched the multiple channels flip by on the screen madly, the light settling a pale blue shade on his bewildered face. News channels wiped by, some declaring diplomatic news from the war while others were stating recent attacks that had been conducted on the States. The channels whizzed by so fast that if anyone else was watching they wouldn't have been able to comprehend anything that was happening, the voices all blurring into one loud buzzing noise. A few words were audible here and there.

Tobias' TV seemed so different then the thin flimsy things they had been selling. His TV had come from the 1960's, about 50 years ago. The clunky TV, had a small rounded screen and was framed with a bright red plastic material. The dial to change the channels didn't work any longer, and one antenna was broken. But how did this TV work still?

On the back was connected a wire, and that wire continued all around the house, through walls and under his meagre carpets. The wire then connected into a room where a large gigantic machine stood, taking up the whole room. Satellite dishes, multiple lights and buttons were covering it, flashing and whizzing as if it was a mechanical beat of its own.

Tobias watched the pictures fly by, his eyes reflecting them back, and more and more he sipped his coffee. Then all of a sudden a huge explosion covered the screen and he felt himself jump back, launching himself off the old time couch and scrambling behind it. Peaking his eyes over the top he told the mechanism to stop. The channel maintained the same.

A news anchor came on. "...another attack in New York, on a small hospital... ...approximately 25, 000 people presumed dead... ...no one has surfaced from the ruins yet... ...source for the explosion is unknown."

He watched the horrifying scene behind the reporter in astonishment. What was this thing called, war? 25,000 people dead? He climbed over the back of the couch and reached out to the TV about to touch the screen. A half-a-second later the screen turned black.

Jok: One Mark for cursing. (spelling it wrong still counts)

~Raven ~ Rebel ~ June13th, 5:34PM~

The wind flew through my sleeves, a welcome breeze in the heat. I listened to the hum of my bike to clear my thoughts. It was only about a week away. After months of thinking about it, I was still worried. What if it wasn’t supposed to be? What if fate declared otherwise?

A fire truck sped past me on the highway, it’s sirens blaring in my ears. No doubt another bomb. I sighed and wheeled around. Explosion pictures always sold pretty well, no matter how tedious this was getting.

After following the sound for a few miles I saw it. Right where the old/ancient hospital had been was a pile of rubble and bloodthirsty flames. How sad, and I guessed that there had been countless people in there.

“With estimated 25,000 patients, this has been one of the worst cases yet.”

Figured. Newsmen and women were everywhere, reporting the same thing to each of their cameras. I quietly walked past, hoping that the police wouldn’t notice me. For the first while they didn’t, and I was able to get about a dozen shots and face-fulls of heat. Then came a big officer with really hideous sideburns, saying, “Ma’am, you’ll have to go back. This isn’t safe.”

“So what’re you saying, I’m a ma’am?” I said angrily. Had to stall. Had to get a picture that would actually sell. “Do I honestly look that old to you? ”

“No, but you’re still going to have to go back.”

“What if I don’t want to, huh? Are you going to push me, a woman? You wouldn’t dare lay a finger on a woman, would you?”

“Get back, ma’am,” he said, drawing a gun.

Before I could think of something to say, a call came from the flames. “Help.” I looked at the officer who had been stunned momentarily. Coming back to his senses he shouted,

“There’s a survivor over here! Get me a search party and a fire crew!”

A sudden surge of heroism came over me and I lunged into the flames. Okay, maybe it was more greed to get a close up of this survivor, but I prefer to call my being stupid heroics.

I'm trying to situate my characters to get them where everyone else is, so if this ruins a plan you had I'll rewrite LaReina.
Maribelle Leslie~Loyalty~June 13th 8:34

I twirled the phone cord in my fingers as I flashed back to the shadowed times. Hope was asleep next to me, every now and then moving herself. The new little boy watched me with curiousity, normally babies like him would fall asleep fast. With a long sigh I searched for His number, things weren't right. I had just finished watching the news, yet another bomb had gone off killing 25,000 people. So many children probably lost their parents, I had sent Aidan out for longer than normal.

He had brought back a wounded boy, a little blind girl, and a tinier tot than Hope. I had wrapped bandages around the little boy's wound. It was a large gash across his stomach, I had white rags and they were stained red. Tears had flowed down my cheeks as his face went a ghastly gray, but he was just nauseous. The little girl touched my hand as I curdled up to cry, her eyes pale but blankly staring at the air in front of me. I had put the littler boy next to Hope, to go to sleep. But, he had yet to nod off.

I finally found his number tracing my finger across his number, Damien Schmidt. Dialing his cell phone I waited as the rings came one after the other.

There was rustling and then his voice came on, "Hello?" He said.

"Damien it's me Mari...Do you ever feel like something isn't quite right?"I questioned slowly, wondering if he noticed it too.

Evelynne Sky~Rebel~June 13th 10:05

Riiiiinnnnggggggg, riiiiinnnnnnnngggggg, riiiiiinnnnnnnngggg

I groaned, trying to get out of bed. As I tried to find the phone multiple thing fell off the table, I sighed. Finally i found the shae of the phone and picked it up to answer the call.

"...all that's holy!...Hello?" I said, wondering who would call me. Then again I always went to bed early, unless i was depressed or something like that. The voice waited a while to reply, it was most likely Robert. He never did figure out how the magic of phones worked.

"Eve? Ahh, well I'm sorry to have disturbed you...but, I was just wondering if you might make a delivery for me?" He asked, sounding a tad bit desperate. Well, I could use some fresh air. A trip would suit me just great, maybe i could bring Dilly.

"Of course Sir, I'm always willing to help. Where do i need to go?" I asked subtly. He made a little sigh in the phone, probably wondering if it would be too far out for me.

"New Orleans?" He whispered. My jaw dropped and I folded my arms trying to think about it.

"Would you pay for flight fees?" I asked, knowing i wouldn't be able to drive there.

"Yes, yes of course. Just stop by and pick up the delivery. It will be right beside the door of the ware house." He explained, I took it down on a note in the pitch dark. After everything was cleared we hung up and i got ready.

Throwing on some clothes, of course baggy jeans. Finding a suitcase, I stuffed most of my belongings into it and called a dog sitter.

I scratched Dilly, as I closed my suitcase and ran out the door leaving the key under the mat. I turned my key to start the old thing and sped to get to the ware house before anyone else would find the box.

Picking it up I put it in the suitcase, Robert had notified me that he had gotten a little plane for me. So, there would be few people and nobody would ask about the box.

When i arrived to the airport, I left my car locking it, and prepared myself for the long flight ahead.

Mitchell Mawson ~ Citizen ~ June 13th, 5:20

While many others he knew in his line of work enjoyed the challenge of surgery, or the thrill of having their hard work noticed, Mitchell much preferred not being noticed by the public eye. His colleagues believed that his apparent reclusiveness was caused by his modesty. He worked on a semi-private basis, allowing hospitals to hire him, but always demanding that the credit go to someone else, a senior suregon at the hospital or some such thing.

Therefore, a day without any calls, without any clients, and without any corresponding possibility of being discovered by the authorities, was a perfect day in the mind of Mitchell Thomas Mawson. He flipped his notebook shut when he felt there was no longer any chance of being called.

Naturally, the phone began buzzing right at that moment. Mitchell watched it, tempted to just go home and let it ring. But, of course, there were two things stopping him. His Hippocratic Oath as a doctor, and his own morality. He couldn't just let the phone ring, when there was every chance someone was in a critical condition, and needed emergency brain surgery.

"Mitchell Mawson speaking." He said into the phone.

"Mitch." The voice on the other end said, "Boy am I glad you're still in. It's Marcus here."

Dang. Mitchell thought. Marcus Henderson, senior specialist in Mitchell's field at one of the bigger hospitals. That meant something really bad was happening. "What is it?"

"You got a t.v. in there?"

"Yeah." He flicked it on, and his mind was immediately sent reeling by the image of burning rubble. The tagline across the bottom of the screen read: Tick tock bomb destroys hospital. 25,000 presumed dead. "Wow..." Was all a horrified Mitchell could manage.

"We think the kill count's mostly media hype. It happened about twenty minutes ago, so there's nothing conclusive there. It's just the number of patients and doctors that were in there. Either way, there'll be a lot of people needing treatment, and you're the beat there is to treat shock."

"And the media?" Mitchell said.

"We'll tell them you're just helping, not a specialist. Many hands make light work and all that. So you'll come?"

"Yeah. I'm on my way now." Mitchell slammed the receiver down again and left his office, cursing fate and whoever launched that bomb for putting him in this situation. If he found out where they were, and for some odd reason forgot his morals, they'd be getting some serious nightmares.

When he arrived, he could see that the search party was already at work on pulling survivors fromthe rubble - and a lot more were coming out than the 'zero survivors' of the media's report. But an officer blocked his way as he moved towards the site, "I'm sorry, whoever you are, you can't get closer."

"My name is doctor Mitchell Mawson, I'm here to help doctor Henderson with trauma victims." He looked over the man's shoulder, saw Henderson bending over a patient who'd just been left by paramedics. Henderson looked up, then beckoned him over. The lookon the doctor's face said one thing: they had a lot of work to do here.

I meekly called for help through the ruble but I had bigger problems, I could feel my control on my shape shifting powers slipping my body reverting to its normal form. I felt strong hand pulling me out of the ruble and before I knew it I was being carried along to the edge of the destruction.

"miss are you okay" Some one said and I felt a camera flash as it took my picture. My eyes were wrenched open and a light was shone in them.

"pupil dilation she may have head trauma" the strong male voice said again.

"stay awake" He said and paused to see if he could find out who I was.

"stay awake Charlie, she's a doctor" He said. I tried to follow his instructions i was just too tired. I reached out blindly and grabbed the arm of a cop. My eyes flashed open.

"help me" I said and suddenly felt a surge of power from the man. I knew what I was doing It was wrong but it felt so good. Then I fell asleep. A deep sleep.

Raven ~ Rebel ~ June 14th, 8:12AM

"My name's Kasandra Honors, and I'd like to see the doctor who needs a doctor, Charlie whoever. Is that possible right now?"

The hospital receptionist typed a few things into her computer and said,
"Are you family?"

"No, I'm not, but I'm a really, really good friend. Known her since first grade. Please?"

"Only family are allowed to visit," she said, then looked at me quizzically. "And if you know her, how come you don't know her last name?"

I rolled my eyes and gave some pathetic lie on how I can't remember last names for my life. She gave me one last look and said,

"I'll see if she's well enough for visitors and if she knows you."

She got up and walked down the white washed hall that led to the rooms. I tried to find Charlie's mind somewhere in the insane, comatose, upset or perfectly healthy ones. Not easy when you're a telepath, not a mind reader. Good thing I've seen the girl, I thought to myself. After about fifteen seconds, give or take, I found what I thought could possibly be hers.

I mentally said to whoever I had found, "Charlie, if that's you, don't ask how I know your name and say to the lady, "Sure, let her in". 'Kay? Good girl."

I got a slight twinge in the back of my head. Yep, I had found her, and her shock. Five minutes later the receptionist came back and said, "This way, ms. Honors."

Once in, I waited until the lady was gone and said to the patient, "Whose side are you on?"

"Who are you?" she said as close to a snap as a sick person could.

"Don't hurt yourself and tell me what side you're on. I can kill you now or give you a friend."

She stared at me for a while. It was probably a sight. Some random lady in shorts, a tee, and an ankle length coat comes barging in and demanding that you tell what side your on when and threatens you life when you don't even know if she's you enemy or ally was probably a pretty strange thing. Finally, after I had glanced at the non-existent watch on my wrist for dramatic effect, she said,

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I gave a long sigh and looked at the ceiling. Flicking my fingers I made a pen come over from a table and began twirling it round my thumb. Quietly, I said, "I saw you change. There's a big difference between twenty and thirty, girl. Particularly on you. Now fess up, and tell me what you are. Do you work for the government? Hafton? Or yourself?"

Joseph Hafton ~ Loyalty ~ June 14th, 4:57AM

He watched silently as flames smothered the city before him. The melting moon and stars lit up the night sky, the Milky Way obvious. Sand was everywhere for no reason. It was just there, constantly reminding you that it was the middle of nowhere, and everywhere, all at once. He sighed. There was no need for the violence. Everyone was fighting one another. It was so stupid, killing and burning and destroying for worthless land. There was no point to it all.

He walked through the balcony doorway to a bedroom and flipped on the TV.

“The suicide pilot attacks of South Africa on Las Vegas, Nevada, have caused deaths reaching almost 10,000 so far. Local authorities say that--” He flipped it off. There was no point in listening any longer; it was only the same old story.

Joseph walked over to nightstand and picked up the wireless phone. He punched in her number and held it to his ear, listening to the ring.

Hello?

“I have a job for you, miss Leslie,” he said into the voice changer connected to the phone. “Do you have the time?”

Well…” she said slowly.

“You’d better. Remember what happened a decade ago?” the stiff silence told him she was uncomfortable. “I need you to find out what’s happened to them all, A.S.A.P.”

And he hung up.

Tobias ~ June 14th ~ 5:00 a.m.

He tossed and turned, the sleep not settling in as it should. No matter how much he tried to sleep, it seemed impossible for him to do so. A minor complication. Finally he gave up, getting up from his couch bed and looked at the alarm clock which in glowing red lights declared the time as exactly 5:00. How odd that truly was.

He slipped his bright pink bunny slippers onto his feet, and scratched his head, making his hair into even a bigger disarray. Looking over, he saw his empty white porcelain mug and grabbed the handle surely, a sense of jittery-ness running through him. He needed his coffee, yes, the coffee would get rid of this unpleasant feeling.

Getting to his feet, he strode through the mess of his apartment, flicking on every light before he entered the room. He did not like never knowing what was lurking in darkness, he did not like knowing that there could be some person from the government standing there about to catch him and bring him to the government. Such a thought seemed to spook him. He knew what went on there.

He pressed the button on the coffee machine and watched it sputter then the small digital clock on it go out. The coffee stopped dripping.

"No!" Tobias screamed, lurching towards it, staring at it in disbelief. Tears started falling softly down his pale cheeks. "You had such a long life to live with your hopes and aspirations at your finger tips! I can not let it end this way!"

He blind with tears right now, grabbing the screwdriver from the counter and slumping down onto the floor. "Trace on."

The words came through before he could think of the possibilities of what could happen. He closed his eyes and saw all the familiar wiring through out the coffee maker, trying to find what was wrong was harder then he intended. It seemed to be a master-board malfunction...

He felt contact. There was another presence with powers in his building. Snapped out of his powers, he leapt back dropping the coffee maker into pieces. He had no time to dwell on that matter. He ran into the room in a hurried frenzy looking for a place to hide, or a place to get out of the room. There was only one way out.

And footsteps could already be heard in his hallway. There came a rap on the doorway and he felt himself yelp. Jack started barking heavily, loud and vicious. Maybe Jack would scare the person away. This couldn't be happening. He would have to move, yes, and buy a new coffee maker. He felt himself fall into depression at the thought. All the times ahead, without a coffee maker. He clutched his shirt over his heart as if he was in severe pain. He slid onto the floor, just happening to be hidden by a table and an array of his inventions.

The door opened, he had no idea how it happened, and he got the first glimpse he would have of the many other power wielders in this world.

*I hope this is okay Incog*

Jack Hayden

I walked through the foyer of the apartment building their was a black haired girl with tired eyes sitting at the desk.

"hey which floor is Tobias on, the scientist" I said looking around nervously. The rebellion had told me that their might be some competition for the scientist. The girl snorted almost chocking on her coffee.

"you mean the freak who has the dog do his errands" The girl said.

"you know I use to think he was cute when he moved in here but then I realised that he's just weird..." I cut her off.

"where is her" I said again and she sighed.

"top floor, have fun" she said. I nodded in thanks and walked towards the boring elevator. The trip was painfully slow the elevator music adding to the boredom. When I got to the top floor their was a strange feeling in my gut, like when I used my Power vision. Crap they were already here I thought and ran to his door. A dog come on I thought as barking started up. I kicked the door in and looked around their was just a dirty looking man clutching his dog.

"please don't be Tobias" I said to myself before walking over to the quivering man.

"you Tobias?" I asked Kneeling down next to him. he nodded pathetically.

"please don't hurt me" He said and I laughed.

"I always get crazy ones, Tobias I'm not gonna hurt you " I said but he shook his head.

"that's what they all say, your going to kill me aren't you" Tobias said and I slapped him before grabbing his arm and lifting him up.

"shut up, I'm here to protect you from something they didn't really give details" I said and Tobias started to take deep breaths, by the light of the naked bulb I could see deep purple lines under his eyes.

"are you on drugs" I said.

"no withdrawal" Tobias said sitting down on his messy couch and stroking his dog who had a tag saying he was called Jack, ironic.

"withdrawal from what?" I asked shuffling uncomfortable in the messy apartment.

"coffee" Tobias said.

"if I didn't know that your a bit loopy I'd think you were kidding, you can drink coffee it not a drug, well it is but ,look just drink some" I said and sat next to him.

"can't my machines broken" he said and I shook my head.

"come on get up were going to go to a magical place called Starbucks" I said and pulled him up from the couch.

"I don't leaving the apartment" Tobias said but I ignored him and pulled him out of the apartment grabbing one of his coats that had gathered a fine layer of dust since it's last outing.

"Jack" Tobias whinned and I sighed.

"leave the dog Tobias" I said and pushed him into the elevator.

"what's your name?"

"Jack"

"hum ironic".

"C'mon, girl!" I called to her. Her ears perked up happily and she bounded towards the front door.

"Mom!" I called out. "Taking Rayne for a walk!"

When we got outside, I turned to my faithful companion. "Yeah, sure," I said. "Just a walk..." I grinned devilishly. Rayne returned the smile tenfold. "Let's go see what that was all about."

Rayne trotted down the crowded sidewalk a little ways ahead of me. Everyone seemed to be moving a little faster today, in the opposite direction as us, on account of the strange explosion. So as to be a little more conspicuous, I ducked into an alley and morphed into a Dalmatian. That way, people would see two "stray" dogs rather than a dog and a sixteen year old girl, running to an explosion of all things. Rayne and I picked up the pace as we ran towards the source. When we got there, we were devastated by the sight, and what it was that had exploded.

It was a hospital, and the flames struck the air and anyone coming towards them viciously. Rayne and I looked at each other with fear and concern. After a while, when some of the flames had been extinguished, fire fighters started running inside, looking for survivors. To my great surprise, they actually started bringing people out. It was a little bit of a relief, so I morphed back and went home, with Rayne trotting happily at my heels.

June 14, 10:00 a.m.

I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling. I thought about my life, what had become of it, and what it used to be. This world was now full of absolutely mass chaos, but it never used to be that way. Rayne was lying next to me, nearly asleep.

Suddenly, my cell phone buzzed on the nightstand next to me. I glanced at it. The screen read '1 new message'. I grabbed it and flipped it open. It said '1 new message. From: Hafton.' I raised an eyebrow and opened the message. Just one word.

Emergency.

My eyes widened quickly, then returned to their regular state. I flipped the phone shut and looked at Rayne, who was looking at the screen. My eyes met her cold blue ones. She blinked.

Tobias ~ June 14th ~ 6:00 a.m.

People. Breathing, walking, talking people.

Tobias looked around, eyes widened in horror, the world was just so bizarre, he would never understand. They were scurrying like ants, always in a hurry, civilization progressing every minute. The crowds thrived and moved even though it was only 6:00. But the truth actually was, there was barely anyone on the Bourbon Street, just a few people walking down the steet trying to get to work, yet because of Tobias' lack of human interaction, there seemed to be much much more people.

Tobias clung to the man named Jack's arm, clinging it as if it was the only thing holding him to this world, and this man seemed to be getting angered after every minute that went by. Finely after fifteen minutes of Tobias' awkward clinging, the man threw him off and glared at him.

Tobias, alarmed, stumbled backward and fell right down onto the ground.

"Can you please stop that? People are staring." Jack, just realizing that he had used more force then he intended, helped Tobias to his feet and dusted him really quickly. "Sorry about that."

"I have never been 'pushed' before. It is certainly a different experience."

"You know, I think we should have let you get changed before we decided to go to Starbucks." Jack said looking at the striped pajama clothing and bright pink bunny slippers as if he had not thought of it before. And of course, Tobias certainly looked like a reck because of his deshelved hair and ratty moth eaten coat which he had not worn in a long while.

"Is there something wrong with my clothing?" Tobias looked at Jack with widening worried eyes.

"Nope. You look fine." The lie was obvious. Strolling down the street, Tobias was bewildered at Jack's comfort why walking in this different place, this place where almost certainly was scaring him. Jack stopped and raised his arm in front of him as to present it.

"Behold, Starbucks."

Tobias' eyes started darting around everywhere trying to take everything in. There was a large gigantic white cup embeloshed with a green and black imprint, the high lights of the words Starbucks stamped in the emblem. The store itself was small with large windows, including the counter where servers awaited with smiles on thier faces, the menu's written and posted above their heads. There was cups, mugs, and other merchandise there, but what was most bewildering was the line up in the place, tall people, short people, rich people, poor people. It was a gathering of all the different classes, at one magical point. There was no descriminating notions here, people seemed to treat each other as equals because they all shared one main thing, and that was a common love.

Tobias felt a shriek escape as one of those people walked by him, holding on of those white cups. In it was the most intoxicating smell. Coffee.

"Give it to me!" Tobias wailed, bombarding the person. He just wanted a dribble, and tiny drip of his most treasured substance. Jack pulled him back with many apologies to the victim of Tobias' brutal attack.

"If you can just wait, we can get you one of your own." He spoke, and Tobias' heart lifted. He liked this man, and trusted him with his whole being. He was ending the long hour drought of coffee.

I need to take us back a bit if that is okay, will end in present.

Gary-Unsure-June 11th

"Hello" I said simply and was answered with a shriek. Before I realized it, a vase was thrown right at me. The vase hit the wall, missing my head by a good foot.

"Gary?!?" Came the shocked voice of the thrower.

"Yes it is I, Gary Overlander....And since you know my name, I guess my resources were correct Kelly," I said smiling and stepped down from window still. Kelly stared at me, her expression told me she was tied between, Laughing, killing me, running, or just plain doing nothing.

"You do know this is very stalkerish, right?" she finally said.

"Don't worry, I didn't see anything," I said. She came over and we hugged. "Also, I would go with the red dress, way classier."

She rolled her eyes as she chuckled. As she pulled away she asked. "So why are you here?"

"To say the three words I have wanted to say for the longest time. It is over," I said happier than I had ever been.

"What is?" Kelly asked.

"Oh come on wise one, what else would I have been waiting ten years to say?" I said.

She looked up. "Are you sure?"

"one-hundred percent. I have looked at every ruin in the world, after ten years, ten lonely, frustrating, work filled year, I am done. Joe is finished."

"And why now? You have told me before there were other times the shadows returned. Why is now different?"

"Because of use. In all the other times, there was no battle to end the shadows reign. They just returned to the depths after their wielder died. They were never hurt enough. But the last time was different. The wielder, he changed the shadows, he changed it, that is where the powers came from, and that change made it possible for them to be hurt. That changed transferred their power, took some away. Gave us a weapon. Went he final battle came, we were able to take away most of it's power. And when it gave us powers, it's ability to heal was taken. It is to weak to attack, and Joe does not have the power to help it. And so I am done," I took a breathe. "And now that it is done, I want to move on. Light some old candles I had to put out. Starting with us."

Kelly looked over. Her eyes full of hope. It hurt me to do what I had to do next.

"I am sorry though. We must wait. Work is now needing me. But I swear I will return here when it is done. If you need me, here are my numbers. Cell, homes, work, and other people who can tell you where to reach me," I placed the card on a table. I walked over to the window. "See ya Kelly. And I mean, I will see you again." As I jumped out, a piece of rock jetted out, and I was propelled into the air.

June 13th

"So remind me again, why do I need to be here to do some paper work? I got Jerry for that," I complained.

"Well we do have something else you could do," Broke said, and handed me a file. finally my hours of begging had been answered. I flicked through the file and landed on a picture. I read the whole file, and it said, basically, to find an inventor by the name of Tobias, and get him to sell an invention for a chip that exceeded the current memory boards for portable music player, cell phones, and cameras. I went right home to pack after that, and went right to the port. I hopped on my plane, and went on a trip to New Orleans.

June 14th

"Where can I find Tobias, an inventor," I asked the black hair receptionist.

"You too? Well I saw him leave with someone else. I heard him mumble something about coffee. Might want to check the starbucks near here," she answered.

"Thanks," I said and took off to the coffee shop.

Amanda-Rebel-June 14th 8:23 am

“I really hate when they do this,” I told Danny on the metro.

“Me too. But a job is a job. Besides, they we need to figure out there moves right now, Rean wants to know everything, it’s lucky we got this sift,” Danny said, and right after I socked him.

“Man, be quiet. We can’t just shout about rebel business like that,” I hissed in his ear. He nodded, rubbing his arm.

“Danny, we need you next to Mrs. Sarim, Egyptian ambassador. Amanda, next to Mr. Halo, ambassador to Poland,” Rick, our boss, said when me and Danny got there. We took out spots, an began to translate the plans to deal with all the bombings.

“Now. Out first order of business is that we deal with all the bombings. As you know there has been a drastic increase during the last month. So what we need to do is to figure out why. Now at first you we thought the rebels, but it is to organized for them,” I gave an eye roll at Mr. Nix, the American ambassador’s comment to rebels. “So we are now forced to set on some research on other ones. Now if you all turn to page five, scion C of your packets….” The rest of the meeting was full of boring translations on, that ended in nothing getting done.

“Looks like nothing for Rean today,” Danny said when we reached our apartment.

“Yeah. Well we do have some good news. They don’t think it is us any more, we can tell him that, not much, but something,” I said.

Danny nodded.

David-Loyalty-June 14th

My phone rang. I looked at the ID and smiled. Finally a mission had come.

“So what is it today?” I asked.

“Ah. Egger as ever David.” My boss said “I need you to help another Loyalty. Her name is Maribelle Leslie, you are to serve as back up, an escort maybe. I have booked you a plane. She has been instructed to meet you at the air port.”

“And what may I ask is this mission about?” I asked.

“She has been sent to find a few people from my past. They might be a it dangerous, and she alone might not be able to take care of them if things get bad. That is all you need to know. Now get to JFK,” the man said before hanging up.

I ran right from my counter, and hailed a taxi. About an hour later I was on a plane ride to my next mission.

Rebecca-Loyalty-June 14th

She had been watching the fire. Across the street and a little to the left, it smoldered, almost completely out. She had watched it from her thick glass window, from when the hospital had first blazed up (beautifully) with a bang in the afternoon, then died down until it was only a pile of blackened rubble in the early morning light.

And while she had been staring, entranced, someone had called. The little red light on the answering machine was blinking, on and off, on and off. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself. Get a grip on yourself, Rebecca. You’ve got nothing they could want and even if you did they wouldn’t leave a frickin’ message. Just get it over with.

She reached out and pressed a button.

“You have two new messages. First new message: Received June 13th, at 9:14 pm.
‘Hey, it’s Kelly. Have you seen the news? It’s craz-‘”

Swearing silently, Rebecca deleted it.

“Next new message: Received June 14th, at 6:18 am.” She glanced at the clock. Only ten minutes ago. The voice that issued from the machine was smooth and calming, yet somehow very icy. It made her shiver, yet Rebecca thought if it had been anything less than serene she would have screamed.
“’This is Joseph Hafton. You are going to pick up a girl named Larara Caneero. You two are then going to go to JFK airport, and meet two other Loyalties at gate 13. More information will be given then. But first you are going to delete this message. The girl can be found at the following address:-“

Rebecca swore again.

-----------------------------------

The house was large and silent; only one window was lit up and that one seemed to be glaring down at Rebecca from the second floor. She was still toying with the idea of running away and pretending she never received the message, even though she had already called Kelly and told her she would be gone for a few days, so could she take care of the Gallery?
Finally, after she had deliberated for what seemed like hours, she pressed her palm to the door bell.

There was a scuffle, a dog barked, and the light flared behind the front window. The door swung open and Rebecca started. Larara really was a girl, only in her late teens at most, with long blond hair and a disgustingly cute koala on her shirt. There was more than a touch of suspicion in her gaze.

"Yes?"

Rebecca had to collect herself for a moment before speaking.
"I'm here for Joseph Hafton. We're going to the airport." She prayed to God she sounded professional, not stupid.
The girl said nothing for a second, only watched her with eyes that were an unnerving color, her fingers curling around the collar of a large dog.

Rebecca didn't think she was going to enjoy this.

Larara~Loyalty~June 14th, 11:02 a.m.

I sighed. Rayne was eyeing the stranger suspiciously. I trusted that this woman was sent by Hafton, though her specific purpose had me completely bewildered. By the way Rayne didn't once growl, I could tell she felt exactly the same way.

"I always knew he trusted his long-time-loyalties with more information than me." I sighed again. "C'mon Rayne," I said to her, ushering her out the door. "Mom!" I called into the house. "Going out for...a while," I said, a little at a loss for words or a description as to where I was going.
I shut the door and trotted after the woman.

On the way to the airport, I figured I'd be polite and properly introduce myself and my canine companion. "I'm Larar--"

"I know," she interrupted, rather rudely.

I fake-coughed, a little taken aback, a little put out. "Okay then. Well this is--"

"Rayne, I know," she interrupted again.

"Yeah..." At that point, I just decided to shut my mouth and let her have the awkward silence she was going for. Unfortunately for her, I couldn't handle it, and had to speak. "Well, believe it or not, I don't know who you are, so...?"

She glanced at me for a second, then replied, "Rebecca."

"Oh. Alright then." After that, I managed to stay quiet until we reached the airport.

When we got there, Rebecca started looking around for someone. I had no idea what I was doing there, much less who we were supposed to be meeting, so as much as I wanted to help, I couldn't. After a bit, her eyes settled on two people, and she made her way over to them. Rayne and I stayed a safe distance behind.
