Breanne

The Scarlet Eye. He had me fooled there. I had only heard of it a few times. Though it had a familar ring to it. I just couldn't think straight. I still didn't trust this man...Edge, but that didn't mean I couldn't play it up a little.

"The Scarlet Eye?" I asked. "Why so interested?" He opened his mouth to talk but then closed it quickly. It seemed he didn't trust me either. Good. He wasn't stupid after all.

"You don't know much do you?" He asked, a smug look on his face. Great, I thought, he was too smart. I guess there was only one thing I had left. A defense I hated to use. Simply because it was unfair.

I streched and pushed my long blonde hair away from my face. All fairy's were pretty and i was no excuse to the rule. That was one of their major defenses. One that haardly anyone could detect. Put on an innocent face and bat those long lashes. I hated doing it. It disgusted me, but I really had no choice. Edge probably had some valubale information. It may even help the humans in the war.

He didn't seem to be falling for it. Yet.

"Of course I know about the Scarlet Eye," I flashed him a dazzling smile. "Though I prefer you go first." He still was unfazed. I was getting upset now. I needed this information!

"I'm not stupid. I know you don't really know anything about it," Edge replied. I sighed. How was I supposed to get the information. I grimmaced a little. Time to step it up a little.

Alaric(Edge)-

"You probably don't know anything. I've been searching for over a decade and I still havn't found any leads." Edge stood and held his hand out to Breanne.

She eyed him suspiciously, "What's this for?" She queried.

Edge gave her a wistful smile. "You don't trust me, and I can understand that. But may I remind you, that you're the one who flew onto my balcony. Not the other way around.

Breanne's lips twitched in amusement. "Point taken." She took his hand.

The world dimmed around them until it was pitch dark, then slowly brightened. They were standing in a dim passageway. Outside they heard shouting and banging, and the cry of a child.

Suddenly the door was opened and a tall red haired man shoved a small child into the room. The boy, who couldn't have been more then five or six, passed right through them. The man gave the boy a pained look before quickly closing the door.

Breanne glanced down at the boy, noting his silver blue hair and eyes, so like Edge's own. The little boy scrambled to his feet and rushed to the door, peering through a crack. "Where are we Edge?"

She looked back at Edge, and stifled a gasp, he was watching the boy with a haunted expression, in his eyes were all the rage and grief of an aching heart. "We're viewing the past Breanne, this is my memory. Of the night my parents were murdered."

Breanne

So I had misjudged him. He was completely different than I thought. His parents had been murdered. The look he gave to boy was terryfying. I didn't know what to say. I wasn't going to say 'I'm sorry.' what would that change? I always hated it when people told me that.

"This is how it happens than?" I asked. He nodded and I watched the little boy with the silvery blue hair scramble for the door. He was peering out of the crackas if trying to peek at some unseen thing. What did this have to do with the mage's blade and the Scarlet Eye? Were his parents mage's. I watched his expression flicker. He looked horryified and haunted. I had a feeling I was about to figure out uite a bit tonight.

**I'll let you continue. I'm not sure what you wanted to do with it.**

we can cuss right? and what year is this?

Matthias~~

Dhampir. The illegitimate son of a vampire and a human. Cursed to wander the realms of day and night, yet belong to neither. It truly was a detestable fate, one that I had lived with for over three hundred years.

I roused myself from my thoughts as the clock ticked to midnight. The other hunters and I rose from our seats and opened the wide double doors of the warehouse, exposing the night.

As soon as we were outside I separated from the group. I never really worked with the other hunters. I was a loner, but by choice.

I ran through the streets so fast that at this time of night no one would realize there was someone there until I had passed. I skidded to a silent stop in the forests and jumped straight up twenty feet to land lightly on a swaying branch.

I let the wind flow over me and carry my consciousness with it. My senses spread over the forest and I heard the birds rustling in their nests, the owls as they hunted, and the steady plod of a vampire stalking it's prey. I dropped from the branch and pulled out the revolver stuck in the belt at the small of my back. i landed and flicked the hammer back, firing a shot behind me at the vampire.

It screamed and leapt at me, its teeth bared. I swayed to the side at the last moment and grabbed it's arm as it passed and through it up against a tree.

"What a poor retched creature you are," I said looking at the form lying on the ground.

It looked up at me, "You are fast, too fast for a human. I think I have a present for you."

It leapt at me again, this time a cross swathed in cloth held in an outstretched hand. My features flared from the human appearance I normally wore to the sunken, hollow face of one of the dead. The cross stopped a foot from my face and flared into flames. I shook myself from the unclean feeling that pervaded me. When I looked up at the vampire fear coated his face.

"Wh-what j-just hap-ha-happened?"

I grinned and let my teeth grow into the fangs of a vampire, "You meddled in things you can not comprehend."

He shrank back, "What is your name?"

"Matthias Alucard Van Helsing." I let my voice slip into the ancient romanian accent that I had spoken when I was born, relishing as the sound slipped from my lips. For a moment I almost imagined I was human again.

His face would have drained of blood if there had been any. "You bear the name of the Ancient, and that of his destroyer, Gabriel. You are-"

"A bastard? yes, I think I am. I bear the blood of our first, and the name of the man who killed him."

"You are Dhampir?"

"And a nightmare to all of our race who have forgotten what we once were." The second I finished A carved stake dropped out of the sleeve of my jacked and in a blinding motion I drove it through his dead heart.

"You probably didn't know how to turn to smoke, or change your shape."

I sighed and began walking back to the warehouse. I hated it when my heritage was revealed. That was why everyone only knew my first name. Not the inheritance from my father, or the name of the great Hunter who's legacy I was to uphold. I shoved the thoughts into the back of my mind and recited the last words my father had said to me. A man brought up in the day, to wander the night, and do the things that no other man could do. A bastard in every way.

Alaric(Edge)-

It didn't take long, barely five minutes, that felt like eternity. Edge heard the shouts and bangs of his parents fighting their attackers, one last final scream. Then, cold, cruel laughter.

Edge fought the urge to cover his ears, that one sound haunted him, waking and sleeping. It drove him, it goaded him, it chased him to insanity. Finally there was silence, not long after the younger Edge found the catch in the door, and it swung open onto a scene out of nightmare.

There was blood everywhere, his parents had literally been torn apart, there eyes gouged out and taken. And on the wall of the family room, was the symbol of an eye, painted in blood.

Just that suddenly the memory stopped, the world faded around them, and when clarity came, they were once more standing in Edge's apartment.

"Well?" He asked, his lips quirked in a bitter smile. "You going to tell me now?"

Breanne took a deep breath, and raked her hand through her hair, her long blonde hair flying all over. "You were there, wouldn't you know more then me."

Sighing, Edge shook his head. "By the time I got out of where Dad hid me, they were long gone. I never saw hide nor hair of who did it. I don't know who they are, I don't even know what they are."

Maxima~

Rain pounded the empty streets as I made my way to the most secretive pub. I mean, of course it was a secret to everyone except nightmarish creatures and...me. Plus it was also the place where I could find numerous vampires and werewolves to kill, but still have a reason. They're in human territory. It might be secret, but it's not invisible. On a good day for the blood suckers an innocent human stumbles in there by accident. I spat at the ground. They disgusted me.

"Do we have a problem?" A deep voice growled from the shadows of the alley I was standing next to. It made me jump and grab my shotgun. I clicked it once to make sure it was loaded, and once more for intimidation. The pub was just across the street.

"Show yourself."I challenged.

"Don't be so hasty, Maxima,"A man smiled, stepping out of the shadows. He was tall, muscualar, handsome if I didn't know any better, and a werewolf.

"Nico, I thought we had an agreement. I agreed not to say anything if you agreed to leave this territory!"

He smiled again, showing sharp canines. Nico was what I liked to call an exception to all other creatures. It still didn't mean I wasn't going to kill him, though. After everything he'd done for me, if he gave me reason enough I'd shoot him right now with a silver bullet. Nico read the look on my face and must've assumed as much because he stopped smiling and ducked back into the shadows.

"Goodbye,"I whispered mostly to myself then turned back to the matter at hand. A vampire was leaving the pub and heading my way. I ducked behind a parked car and waited.

*Hope this is okay. Nico will come into play later on. None of the other hunters know about him.

Breanne

My heart beat rapidly in my chest. The poor kid. How can he live with seeing that. I wondered futher, who were those men? Probably vampires. Heartless, cold, cruel vampires.

"Was there anything left behind? Clues perhaps?" I asked him. I didn't expect there to be. After all, he probably wasn't paying attention. My mind drifted back to the scene and I felt like fainted. That was too horrible. I can only imagine how it must have been for little Edge.

"Not that I can remember," Edge replied.

"Nothing?" I asked. "Not one thing?" He looked at me for a moment but decided not to reply. He was hiding something from me.

Matthias~~

I opened the door to the warehouse silently and walked through the dark hallways until I reached my room. I opened the door and closed it behind me with a foot. My room was very unadorned. There was a bed, a desk, and a bookshelf. The only other furnishing was a small fridge stuck up against the far wall.

The fridge was stocked with jars filled with pigs blood. I took one out and popped off the lid. The smell floated up my nostril and I sighed. My face hollowed into that of a vampire and I drank. When the bottle was empty I set it on top of the fridge and sat on my bed with a book.

*please keep this going*
