I heard something move near a bush. A little toe peeked out form underneath it. I looked and Andi and used my eyes to point this out. He nodded.

"Kyna is just too good for us," I saighed loudly. "We'll never find her."

"It'll take forever to find her! She's so good at this game." Andi replied. We heard a stifled giggle. It was working.

"Maybe she left us," I said. "Nobody can be this good."

"We give up, Queen Kyna!" Andi yelled. "We'll never win." I defintely heard laughter. Kyna jumped out of the bush, laughing.

"Here!" She shouted. I gasped.

"Look Andi, she was here all along," I exagerated. "Your just too good for us Kyna." She smiled broadly. I looked at my watch and had to do a double take.

"Karo is going to kill me," I whispered.

"Who's Karo?" Kyna asked.

"My brother. Or should I say my bodyguard," I smiled. "He's way too protective. I told him I would be home an hour ago."

"Do you have to go?" Kyna asked. I couldn't help but grin. She wanted me to stay. Did Andi?

"I do but you're both more than welcome to come with me," I said looking up from beneath my eyelashes at Andi. I could normaly read people's faces, but not his. I could find not one emotion. He was looking at me too and I glanced away quickly. I felt heat rise to my cheeks. I had to get a hold of myself.

"Of course we'll come with you." I said. Kyna nodded rapidly in response, then blinked as if in a daze. I chuckled, "dizzy."

She nodded and yawned. I bent down and she climbed on my back for a piggy-back ride.

"Shall we?" I asked Kassie, she nodded.

I liked Kassie, she was fun to be around and Kyna liked her. For a child, Kyna probably had a better judgement of character than I did...which was pretty sad.

"So what is your brother like, besides overprotective?"

I smiled. My brother.

"He's hilarious. He's uptight. And he's my mom and dad," I said, smiling. Andi looked at me, surprised.

"What happened?" He asked.

"Fire nation killed my parents a long time ago. Karo was left to take care of me. I never knew my parents, so I'm not that sad about it, but if anything ever happened to my brother," I didn't finish. The words were too depressing to speak of.

"Oh!" Andi said surprised. Way to go and depress everyone, I thought.

"What about you?" I asked, changing the subject. What are your parents like?"

"They're sort of normal, I guess." I said, wishing I could shrug, "I wish I could say I was close to them, but I'm not. They're always doing something. We don't see them a lot...probably has to do with Dad's buisness. So I take care of this little bug."

Kyna pinched me for that and I smiled.

"You said you were leaving. Is there a reason for that?" I regretted the words as soon as they came out, it was probably personal. "Sorry, you barely know me and I go and ask something like that."

What did it matter if I told him? I didn't want to leave. I really liked them both. I finally sighed.

"Let's just say I'm not what I appear to be on the outside. Karo dosen't know that I'm leaving either, so please don't say anything," I said. "I just feel drawn to this place."

"Really?" Andi asked, startled. I nodded. I blushed. He probably thought I was just weird.

We reached my house and I eagerly went inside. Karo wasn't home, but I found a note on the table adressed to me. Who other?

Kassie,
You're dead. I'm out looking for you as we speak. What were you thinking? I'm so worried. You'd better have had a good explination.

Karo

"Well it was nice knowing you," I sighed. "I'm dead when my brother gets here." I showed them the note.

"He dosen't mean it does he?" Kyna asked. "He won't really kill you, will he?"

"No, of course not!" I said. "He loves me. I can't wait until you meet him." She smiled and I went into the kitchen to fix a couple of drinks. Suddenly the door burst opened. Karo.

"Kassie, where were you?" He exclaimed as I ran to meet him.

"I met a few freinds," I said, motioning to them.

"This is Andi and this little cutie is Kyna," I smiled. His eyes softened at the little girl but hardened at Andi. Oh no, don't let him get any ideas I thought. He nodded towards Andi and squatted to say hello to Kyna.

"Hello there Kyna. I'm Karo," he smiled. I knew he couldn't resist little kids. After all, I was still only a little kid to him. Even if I was 17.

"Hi." Kyna said, a worried expression on her face.

"What's wrong, Kyna?" Karo asked. I was wondering the exact same thing.

"Y-you don't...y-you're not going to k-kill Kassie, are you?"

Kassie put a hand over her mouth, trying to hide her laughter. Karo looked shocked. He gave Kassie a Look. Kyna was serious, she thought that he might kill his sister.

"Of course not, Kyna. What gave you that idea?"

"Kassie said she was dead when you got here." She looked at him, her eyes wide, "Please don't kill her, she's my friend!"

"I won't." He gave Kassie another Look.

"Promise?"

"I promise." He stood up, rubbing his forehead.

"As Kassie said, I'm Andi. I just wanted to make sure she got home safely. I'm sorry Kyna kept her."

Kyna looked down in shame. I picked her up, making her squeal. "It's your own fault you're so cute, Kyna, or else she would have been on time."

"It's not my fault." She protested, giggling, "I didn't know Karo would kill her!"

All of us laughed, though Karo was still looking at me with that prodective older brother look.

I hugged Karo. He still had that stiff look.

"I'll make something to eat, I guess," Karo said. "Just stay where I can see you." He started to walk away and I bended the air to make hime walk faster.

"H-how did you do that?" Andi asked.

"What?" I responded.

"You bended the air. I saw you," Andi replied, wide eyed. I glanced down. Oh no, the fire nation had just discovered my secret. Great, this is just fantastic.

"No. I didn't," I said quickly. He gave me a knowing look.

"I know what I saw. I know what I felt," he replied. I sighed. I knew it was useless to deny it, I would just have to leave quicker than I thought.

"Don't worry, Kassie. I wouldn't think of telling anyone." I said sofly, smiling. Kyna nodded, locking her lips. She knew this was a secret; we had the same one.

I held out my palm, gathering air into a small ball. Kassie stared at it as it swirled and the disipated at my will.

"You're..."

"Yes." I answered. Kyna nodded furiously, grinning. She loved it when I bended the air. I'm pretty sure she liked Kassie even more now that she knew she could 'play with the air.'

"Wow, I didn't know there were anymore like me."

"I can say the same thing. It's been a family secret for more than 200 years." I agreed. What luck. My family and I had played around with the idea that there were more air-benders out there, but we hadn't expected to find one.

Another air bender! I couldn't believe it! i wasn't alone. I wasn't a freak. I beamed at him.

"This is amazing. I can't believe I'm not alone anymore," I whispered excitedly. No need for Karo to hear. He would only be mad that Itold Andi about my air-bending abilities.

"Do something else!" Kyna laughed, eyes wide. I smiled and created a buble of air, making it surround her. Kyna's hair twisted around her face and she laughed as she banged her fists into the little buble. It wouldn't budge. I took it down. She looked at me amazed.

"That was fun!" She said it like an accusation. I looked at Andi and smiled. This wasn't so bad after all. I really like Kyna. And Andi.

People say I love you all the time - when they say, ‘take an umbrella, it’s raining,’ or ‘hurry back,’ or even ‘watch out, you’ll break your neck.’ There are hundreds of ways of wording it - you just have to listen for it, my dear.
