Nyxe

"Nyxe," Nyxe answered hesitantly. "But if my name is known to anyone, it's Coamenel. And you are?"

"Lalaith. Sit down before you hurt yourself."

It was true, Nyxe had hardly healed, and the effort was draing her.

"Now then--" Lalaith started, but was cut off.

"Who are you for?"

Lalaith paused for a moment, before saying, "I don't understand."

"There are Elves who fight for the Men, and Men who fight for the non-humans. You can't tell who a person fights for be their race. So who do you fight for?"

Rey:

Rey cringed inwardly, not surprised by Kaida's nerve, but bracing himself for Trace's reaction. He was surprised to see respect spread across his face. He quickly stood and said,

"I'm sorry, I meant no disrespect. See, I was just teasin' Rey here because of his tendency to be curious toward strange things. Not meanin' you, of course," he hastily added, "but the forest. I knew he had went explorin' and didn't want anyone to know, so I was just sorta teasin'. I meant you no harm." Rey looked on in astonishment. Never had he seen Trace give that amount of respect to anyone, not even the commander. He shook his head. Kaida always could work wonders in anyone. But now that he thought about it, maybe her part-elf heritage had something to do with it.

Rey decided to step in.
"Why don't we all sit down and eat," he suggested. Trace already had a meal going, although it left much to be desired.
"So Kaida," he said, picking up a plate, "Where did you find that beautiful horse of yours?"

~Kaida~

Surprised but satisfied, Kaida sat and looked fondly at Cerean, who was grazing nearby. His dark coat shimmered and he looked up, sensing he was being spoken of.

"I found him...no, it was more like he found me. I got myself lost and suddenly he just, I don't know, found me. I was pretty much half-dead and he saved me."

It had been right after I'd been secretly banished, I remembered. Havf dead with sorrow and hunger, I saw Cerean coming from over a hill (there were a lot of those in Rohan). There'd been something in his eyes that'd told me to get up. We'd been together ever since.

Taking a plate from Trace, I began to eat. "Still can't believe a Mearas accepted me as a friend." I smiled, my initial anger gone.

"Why are you guys here anyway?" I asked our of pure curiosity.

Constance-

"Who are you?" I asked back, not wishing to reveal my identity. He was silent. I glared at him hard and pointed my bow at him.

"Tell me who you are and I'll let you leave," I threatened. He looked taken aback, but that was not my problem. He was trespassing and there were too many strangers near Fangorn now.
"Oh please don't tell me you're archaeologists."

Rey:

Rey thought for a moment, pondering the events that had brought him here.

"We were patrolling the south fields a few days ago and we'd just made camp when we saw smoke rising from this area. All of us knew that smoke near Fangorn couldn't be a good thing. We came as quickly as possible, but when we arrived all we found were the charred remains of a camp. It seemed to be..." suddenly he stopped short. He was staring into the distance on the outskirts of the camp. He stood quickly and Kaida turned her head to see what it was he was looking at.

"What is it, Rey?" Kaida asked.
"Yeah," said Trace, "You're givin' me chills." Rey motioned with his hand toward the spot he was looking.
"I thought I saw something over there. He, well, IT, was clothed in black, and he hid before I could get a closer look. Come on, let's see what it was." They stood up and started walking to the edge of the camp.

I had been following Hoody for a while now and I noticed that he had randomly stopped. Hoody apparently thought that his horse was safe if he tied it down hidden in thick bush.

This was not so. It was sort of panicking by the time that I reached it. It was then that I noticed the small camp sitting in the distance. Possible Hoody had gone to check it out and left his horse here. I crept down the hill and closer to the camp to watch.

Meer

Meer hesitated, surprised by the sharp should of the girls voice. He stepped back behind the foliage, watching from afar as to either see how things unfolded, or searched for his chance to make his own presence known. If he had to though, he would leave, in search of something other then this. If there was one humanoid creature, then surely enough their should be others in the area.

Such a cold look in her eyes was frightening though, making him step even farther back into the terrain of the forest, cloaking his face in the darkness.

Putting an arrow to the string, I followed Rey and Trace. I trusted Rey's instincts and kept my eyes and ears open. A twig snapped and I nearly shot Trace by pure reflex.

"I suggest you don't do that." I hissed to him. Rey motioned for my silence and I complied. After scanning the area once more, I saw movement and pulled back my string. It was farther away than Rey seemed to think the movement came from and I aimed my bow towards this new movement.

Another movement. I let the shaft fly.

"Of course I fight against the men. I don't live in this tiny camp on the mountain because it is enjoyable. I do it because it is away from men, and easy to see a far distance from. However, fight might be the wrong word to use. We don't fight, really. We just keep out of the mens' way. I myself would love to fight, but the rest of my people don't believe it is the right strategy." I sighed. Everyone I lived with was so... passive.

"So what about you? Whose side are you on, and also, where are you from?" I asked Nyxe.

Nyxe

I'm safe here.

"I'm for the non-humans," Nyxe said, pulling back her sleeve to show a branded square with a line going through it's center. "And I've been caught by Men countless times. There's a bounty on my head, so I'm that much more glad we're on equal sides. As to where I'm from, any answer I gave you wouldn't be right. I used to say Rivendel was my home, and then it was the mountains. For now, any and every square inch of earth that doesn't belong to Men is my home. And where are YOU from? I can imagine that you were there at the Final Battle."

Rey:

An arrow whizzed by his ear. Rey jumped back out of the way and looked at Kaida in alarm. Giving him one look, she started running toward her target. Quickly, Rey turned around and saw a man lying in the grass, an arrow protruding from his side. A red flag came up when subconciously he realized that the man lying in the grass was not from the exact direction as the one he'd seen before. It was lost in the moment though, and he rushed over to the man.

He was trying to crawl away, but wasn't getting very far. By the time they got to him he had collapsed from exhaustion and blood loss facedown in the grass. Not knowing how dangerous he was, Rey drew his sword. He motioned for Kaida and Trace to turn him over to examine his wounds and they did so without hesitation.

The man's eyes were shut and his breathing ragged. Rey sheathed his sword and dropped to his knees beside him. Carefully, he brake off the arrow shaft.

"Be careful, Rey," said Kaida. "We have no idea who this is." Rey nodded and succeeded in removing the arrow, but as soon as it was out the man lashed out his sword and grabbed Rey, struggling to get on his feet. By the time he'd gathered his wits, Rey found himself with a sword at his neck and with this man holding him so tightly that Rey was having trouble breathing. Kaida already had her bow out and was holding it steadily at the man.

"No one moves or he dies," he said, his voice shaky from the pain.

*Ballow, if this is too out of character for him, then I can change it.

~Kaida~

We could wait until he bleeds to death, or we could kill him...but then Rey could die. Thoughts whizzed in my head at lightning speed. This was really a lose-lose situation that we'd gotten ourselves in.

"I wouldn't suggest you kill him." I said matter-of-factly. Stalling was the best thing I could come up with at the moment and this was the only way I could figure out how to do it. The adreniline rush this had given me was making most of my body shake but I held my harms steady. The wounded man blinked and his knuckles started to whiten.

"If you kill him, you'll die without me really caring because that there is a friend of mine."

**Sooo, there is some confusion. Is Constance pointing her arrow at Mikael or some other character who has no purpose? Originally it Mikael then it went to Meer, but now I have no clue. :{ **

Lalaith

"I was alive for the final battle, but I didn't fight, though I wish very much that I had. My family made me flee, because I said I wouldn't leave Middle Earth for the Undying Lands..." I flashed back to that day, where I had blatantly refused to leave Middle Earth, then muttered to myself, "I'm never allowed to fight." Shaking my head, I looked up at Nyxe.

"That was when I lived in Lothlorien. It's pretty much deserted there now, because all the elves are in hiding. It's a shame, because it was always so incredibly beautiful, and I hope it still is. I loved the mallorn trees.... I mean, the trees in Fangorn have a certain wise, intelligent air about them, but the mallorn trees were always so proudly regal and elegant. Have you ever been? I've been to Rivendell several times, many years ago. My sister and brother lived there, until they left for Aman. Are any of your family members still here?"

(Yah, I was unsure, so I just had Meer hide in the trees a little longer, maybe watching from afar to see how things sort of worked out between Constance and Mikael. If the arrows at Meer though, I would gladly respond :D)
