"Sure" I said, as I pressed my palm down on the dry dirt. Roots started springiong out, and trapping not one but two lizards standing close to eachother at the same time.

He ran to where the two lizards had been pinned down, already giving himself over to the side of his family’s power that he so feared and hated. His eyes took on a sunken look, their normal blue becoming a sickly grey, similar to the pallor his skin took on.

The lizards growled at him as he reached them, claws scratching ineffectually at the ground beneath them as they strained against the roots tying them down.

Ignoring their struggles, Luis placed a hand on each of their heads, closing his eyes. Almost immediately, a change in them was apparent. Their scales began to dull, as did their eyes. Their claws began to lose some of their dull orange lustre, and their breathing became more of a pathetic wheezing.

They strained harder, and in his mind’s eye, Luis was focusing on the bright flames that were their souls, slowly but surely extinguishing them. As long as Kate could keep the roots holding them down, and as long as the others didn’t let any of the lizards reach him, he’d have these two dead within twenty more seconds.

I crouched down with my hand on the beast's throat and i screamed. As i placed my head down to the sand, i know that i should have not went here. I know i should have stayed protecting Lindy but how stupid i was.

I opened my mouth to make a scream but only silence came out. My eyes were wildly open and i clenched my hands so tight that i can feel the warm blood from it but that only made it worst for i stood up wfirlmly with a dagger and my bow by my hand.

A beast sprang to me and i gripped it throat and gave a sly grin before i rip his head apart with a dagger.

"More!" i yelled, "Give me MORE!!!". half dozen lay wast around me and though i notice taht the ebast were getting stronger, i simply gave a chuckle as my clotehs were painted in blood. It feels good. I have never felt anything like this since the tournament.

I walked forward slolwy and surely holding my weapons close at me gwhile i track Mori slaying continuisoly the number of beasts that tried to stop me.

In answer to Meave's question, I tore through my prey and ran up beside him and the half fire-fairy the same inastant he grabbed her, probably more roughly than nessecary, and catapulted himself into the air. He was fighting his ability, trying not to touch her mind. I could feel his struggle and growled in annoyance--there was nothing I could do to help him, not now.

Meave yelped a little bit, most likely from the complete surprise, but that was just a guess. Buying myself some time, I lept straight up to examine my surroundings. In a quick moment, I noticed Luis had his hand on each of two lizards. They looked like they were dying. Then again, he was too if someone didn't get over there quickly.

Landing, I knew even the fastest couldn't get there. That was when being part animal came in handy. Gathering air, I threw my head back and roared, challenging them. I hoped it wouldn't distract Luis, but all animals respond to a challenge like that. Pain shot to my throat, human throats weren't meant to make a sound like that. Talking would be difficult later on.

The lizards looked at me, eyes like lasers. That was enough for some of them to stop in their tracks and come to me. Now, how the heck was I supposed to deal with all of those lizards? So THAT'S how Comet always got himself into trouble. Not thinking things through. It makes tons more sense now.

I flew through the air and landed closer to Mori, but not extremely close. She stood at the back of the battle and many lizards were still in front of her. I suddenly realised that I wasn't a hundred percent sure of what I was doing.

I had to think quickly though, the battle was still going on around me.

I concentrated and drew my powers together. I began forming walls of fire again to hinder the enemy.

The creatures that were around now seemed different. They had an orange glint to their eyes and claws. Does that mean what I think it means?

Luis had told me of a possible way I could help with my powers. I concentrated hard on one of the lizards nearest me. I held my hand out and pulled it back slowly towards me. The lizard fell to the ground as I pulled a string of golden fire from its mouth. The lizard was soon motionless, and lifeless, on the sandy battlefield.

"Yess." I said. Luis had been right.

Finally, he had a full grip on the souls of the two lizards. He had heard distant roars, and almost lost his grip then, but he'd held on long enough to deplete the lizards' strength. Now Luis opened his eyes to see his hands covered in a dull grey cloud.

He ripped them away from the lizards, the grey becoming an eerie green glow in each hand. Have to keep one... He thought, Custom dictates that I have to provide proof. But the other soul washis to use as he chose. The pair of lizards collapsed to the ground without uttering another noise, not so much as a whimper.

The glow around one of Luis' hands disappeared, while the other remained in place. But only for a moment, while he surveyed how things had changed. Kate was now fighting with a trio of lizards that had snuck up on her during her aiding him. Comet was racing towards where Star was fighting a losing battle against the majority of the beasts. Was she the one that roared? No, that's impossible. But then why are they all attacking her?

Maeve and Miss Midori were both cutting a vicious swathe through droves of the monsters, clearly aiming for Amamori, trying to reach her before the other. Its not worth making an impact on that race, Luis thought, There are people who need help more than those two.

The glow became an orange one as he drew out the full power of the draconic soul, transferring half the energy to his other hand. Then he gestured at two of the lizard groups - the one attacking Star, and the one attacking Kate.

The fragments of soul burst from his hands, colliding with two of the creatures directly. Both died instantly, consumed in a conflagration that seemed to be of immense proportions, before a searing hot wind erupted outwards, blowing the other lizards away. And with them, to Luis' dismay, went Kate, Comet and Star, the twins somersaulting gracefully backwards to land on their feet. Lizards landed awkwardly around them, bones snapping and twisting out of shape all over the place,
only a few left being fit to fight.

Kate landed equally awfully, one peg hiting the ground at a bad angle and twisting. Luis heard the snap from where he was already rushing towards her. Taking the souls had invigorated him, and he knew he'd be able to heal her now, but she'd be in horrible pain for about a day afterwards. He also now knew how intoxicating the power granted from taking a soul was, and understood what drove his cousin to the lengths she went.

I was badly hurt, but I was not about to give up, so long as I was in contact with land, I could help out. I ordered the earth to attack all lizards and mori, causing dirt to open up beneath their feet and trapping them. But I couldn't hold on much longer, I felt a tired using my powers, for the first time, it actually hurt to use them, a lot. In a minute they collapsed, and the dirt no longer obeyed me. I was much too weak to do anything else. But that minute, I hoped, proved helpful.

Chris

I couldn't help out, much. I just watched Alexis, hoping against all hope, that nothinh

i landed on a branch and stare at the beach where countless bodies of lizards fell down the ground with their blood coloring the brown sand into red.

Beautiful

i looked around trying to find Mori but found Meave trying to get to her. Damn, there's no way that'll i'll be beaten. Then that is where she strike me.
The first part of the branch got broke and Mori leaped upwards towards me. I moved back into midair striking her with an arrow. It struck the part where she stood but she hurdled above me and with one gulp, she gave a fireball. I move quickly to my feet when i reached the ground,

I took out a dagger as she struck me with ablade by her arms.

"What do you want, Mori!" i shouted as our weapons met each other. She only grinned as we move apart. She rushed to me and i leap up striking her. I do not want to kill her but only take her alive. I stood by a large branch where a large beast came hurling back to me. I leap backwards which where Mori appeared. I threw a dagger at her before stopping myself at the edge. My breathe was in rage and my recovering body is still no use to fighting at this level.

"Do you want to know what i want?" she said and with a raise of her finger, i looked around to see large beast bigger than the ones i fought surrrounding me.

"I want to have it back! I want to retain what was loss and what you have is what i want. For you see this is not my body? Do you remember, the young attendant by the plane. This is hers."

I readied myself trying hard to concentrate as she ordered her beast to attack me.

I thought i was done for until a large strings of fire (fire puppetry) strike each one of the beast until they fell down injured.

"Ms Midori, are you okay?" Meave's voice echoed as i saw her below me on the ground.

Ms Midori wavered on the high branch, but regained her balance and nodded to me. She did not seem to want my assistance. I felt wrong about leaving her defenseless. What if she really needed my help?

I stepped back and continued the battle below the tree Ms. Midori and Mori were in. I was determined to keep the most of the beasts away from her own personal fight with Mori until she may need me.

I nodded at Meave as she fought the otehr beasts below her. Mori gave me a grin as i prepared myself as i try to gain control of myself. My heart began to beat faster and i can feel the dominca of wanting to kill growing stronger.

"Heh, you got help, good? You know what..."

"What do you want?" i say again trying to find a way out. I gave a little sigh that there was no way out. I was completely surrounded by beast staring out the tree. They were much more powerful.

"You know what i want? I want what you possess...i want the berserker."

"It's gone, Mori, he's dead...it's all over...!"

"Mori..." she chuckled, "How about we take this to the next level. You're friends back in the beach did pretty much to my pets but they're just pets. We got more. How about I'll show you what i looked like."

I stayed where i stood when a large ball of fire came upon me. I leap upwards to the nearest branch above me. Only to discovered a large great grey hand came up and took me by surprise. He tooked me by the neck and i stagger as he cornered me by the branch.

I looked down and saw the flight attendant's body by the lower branch. I hope well she is alive.

"So what shall i do to get the berserker...take your head off or torture you until you die." i stagger to free myself.

He stood, looking at the creature that held Miss Midori for a few moments. Hadn’t that been Mori but a moment ago? What had happened? She’s got to be a half-blood. He thought, And a powerful one at that. But she’s in a tree, all the same…

Rather than dashing towards Miss Midori and Mori to try and help that way, he ran in the other direction, skidding to a stop beside Kate, who was curled up on the ground, obviously hurt from when he’d attacked the lizards.

“Kate,” he said frantically, “Mori’s in a tree, you can get her now, can’t you?”
She started trying to lift herself a little, and let out a gasp of pain, “I don’t think I can, Luis…I’m hurting all over.”

He laid a hand on her head, closing his eyes and drawing on the new found power within him. Then he concentrated on her wounds, telling them to start healing. His power was flawed, even when he’d practiced most with it for all these years. Only the head of the family could heal someone fully without them suffering ‘ghost pain’ for a few days.

“There,” he said after a few moments, “Try now.”

Alexis

I dodged around the dragons more, distracting them for the twins to attack. We made a rather excellent team.

Suddenly something hit me and I fell to the ground, changing back into my human form as I shouted in pain.

"Alexis!" I heard a familiar voice yell.

Chris' face came into my blurred vision just before I blacked out.

James

I saw Alexis fall to the ground, and then I saw Chris sprinting towards her. Alexis wasn't moving, and Chris wasn't paying attention to the battle at hand. He didn't even notice the looming dragons coming towards them.

"Stupid!" I yelled and started running towards them. I was halfway there when I realised I had no way to save them from this dragon, I didn't have the power to defeat a dragon.

I skidded to a stop and looked around franically. I spotted what I was looking for and yelled as loudly as I could. "Comet!" Comet didn't look at me, but his cat ears pricked and shifted as my yell met his ears. "Chris and Alexis need help!"

Comet spun and looked to them. The dragon was almost upon them, and Chris still hadn't noticed.

"What is his problem?!" Comet growled and sprung into the air. He landed right on top of the closest dragon to them, knocking him away from the pair.

More dragons were closing in though. I ran towards the two to try to help protect the fallen Alexis. I hoped I could keep them safe.

What is the one thing that kills dragons? I thought, as I felt better, I had missed Mori, she flew off right before I could do anything. I saw her landing right where Chris and Alexis were, he seemed oblivious to the fact that there was a dragon right behind him. I stared at the Dragon, all I wanted to do was kill her, for all the pain she had caused, and now there were so many more of them, we would die. I stretched out a hand, testing out a different ability for the first time, black magic. I possesed it, did I not? Any witch did. At least that's what my instincts told me.

"Mori" I yelled, and the dragon turned my way, she flew right past Chris and Alexis who she was about to attack: "You'll obey me and no one else." I yelled. "I have bound you, and I order you to turn back into a human, and take your sick friends with you!" She seemed unable to not obey, and soon she was the harmless girl, I thought she always was.

"You're stupid, to think those dragons obey me, they'll tear you to shreds, and you will burn in hell for using black magic, little witch! There's no going back now, is there?" She laughed darkly, as I looked at her intently, my dark side seemed to be taking over me, I could not control it, black blood started coming out from her eyes, as she screeched in the worst pain imaginable, the worst part was that I enjoyed it, her pain seemed to feed me, make me more powerful.

"Kate stop! You're not a killer, we need her, she could be the key." I couldn't make out who said that, becayse a dragon flew right over me and grabbed me lifting me in the air. I grabbed its foot and it too became obedient to my command, I ordered it to bring me down and then it too, began pleeding black blood and yelling in pain. All the other dragons growled in concern as they looked at their companion, they seemed intelligent, despite themselves. That's when I suddenly felt all my earlier stregth draining from me, the cutting pain from before returned, and I fell to my knees, losing my concentration. Mori, I noticed before I fell down was unconscious, maybe even dead. What had I done?

Chris

I could not think about anything but Alexis, as I stood by her, nothing else mattered. Everything around me was a blurr, I didn't notice anything but her, she looked hurt, really hurt. And I could do nothing to help her, because I was so much weaker than her. She seemed to be coming around, she slowly opened her eyes, and they filled with fear, I saw what she was looking at, a dragon, Mori, flew right over us. The End. But then, she seemed to turn human, and she started bleeding, black blood from her eye sockets, I stared at her in disbelief, then the same thing happened to a dragon. Mori fell, I noticed, and so did the dragon. The rest were furious, and Kate had fallen. But they were also frightened, or something, because they did not fight. At least for the meanwhile, while they were assimilating what had just happened. I held on to Alexis stronger.

"What is happening?" I heard her murmur. Then, one by one, each and every dragon turned into a human. They were all exceptionally beautiful.

"We will speak." One of them, the leader perhaps walked forwards. "You've proved more powerful, than we anticipated, but I hope Mori isn't dead, for she is or king's daughter, and if she is, nothing can save you. Now, Caleb check on her." A young man went over to check and see whether we were doomed or not.

"Her pulse, too weak, she'll die, if we don't take her back quickly." Caleb replied.
"Go, then, I'll speak with them in the meanwhile." The leader said, in a grave tone.

I grasped an injury on my upper arm and gazed around me. It wasn't that they'd just turned into humans that'd bohtered me...it was the intelligance. Nothing those mad scientists that'd created me and my brother had been this intelligant, except us and a few others. Comet moved closer to me, his ears glued onto the top of his head. His eyes moved back and forth wildly, trying to calm himself and take in everything at once. I'm sure I looked the same.

The human-dragon things still had that lizardy and charcoly smell. Disgusting if you ask me, though I'm not the best to ask. A growl came from beneath both I and Comet's teeth. This put the leader on alert and he glared at the both of us which shut us up quickly. I glanced at Chris and Alexis. She was barely awake and her head was no longer bleeding. Luis was squatting down next to a horrified looking Kate.

His hand brushing mine, Comet glared right back at the leader. "What are we supposed to be talking about?"

"Your removal from this island."

"We've heard that one before," James said, "and look how that turned out."

The leader gave him a whithering look through stunning eyes, but James didn't back down. Everyone was on edge. I decided, before we were literally at each other's throats again, that someone needed to be the voice of reason. Chris was worried about a barely consious Alexis. Kate was pale as a ghost and both Comet and James were still in battle mode and I had no idea what was going on with Midori. It had to be either me or Luis. Swallowing all doubt, I took a step.

"Everyone calm down." The words weren't loud but I tried to put all the conviction I had in them, "We can't settle anything if we're suspecting the other side is going to suddenly leap at the other." That's exactly what we'd do anyways, but I had to try something. Luis nodded.

"She's right. We can't solve this when we're plotting agaisnt each other." Thank God someone agreed with me, I couldn't have done that by myself. Running from governments, sure, anytime. Holding a socialy acceptable conversation...eh...

"Let's just shake hands and get throught this calmly." Throwing away my better judgement, I held out a slightly shaking hand. Comet tensed beside me, ready for anything; as if I couldn't handle it. A few movements and I could hurt the guy more than he knew...just because he took me hand. But I wouldn't--couldn't.

I waited for the leader's reaction.

I say Wolf, for all wolves are not of the same sort; there is one kind with an amenable disposition – neither noisy, nor hateful, nor angry, but tame, obliging and gentle, following the young maids in the streets, even into their homes. Alas! Who does not know that these gentle wolves are of all such creatures the most dangerous!
