~Cedrick

"No, I don't think so. All I'm really going to need is not to be bothered." He nodded to Ben and he went over to help Jude. Taking a seat at the table he set the guns down in front of him. He clasped his hands together and began to pray. The incantation was long and had several parts. He needed total concentration.

(You guys can make a post or two and I'll post that he finished the first incantation.)
I will always fight back, no matter what.

Rush:

He looked up to see his little messenger standing at the doorway, looking more grim than usual. Everyone went quiet at her presence. The Angels tried to ignore her and the demons thought she was a disgrace. He waved his hand signaling for them to go back to their practicing. Silus bowed his head and backed away, keeping his eyes on Jinx at all times.

"There she is. Jinx, what information do you have?" He asked dropping the map onto a table and staring at her. She wouldn't meet his eyes and almost mumbled the following words.

"The Angels still have no idea about the attack."

"And.....?"

"And they don't even consider me as a spy," She replied with more soul in her words then ever before, but he ignored it. Jinx was just a half breed in his eyes. She'd never amount to anything; just like her mother. Her eyes flicked to his, as if she'd heard the words. Then she dropped her gaze again.

"Do you have any news about my mother?"

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do," He said the words with a thick slowness. Trying to torture her by making her wait even longer for the only information she ever cared to know. "Your mother was last seen by our scouts near the mountains. The Appalachian Mountains or it could've been the Rockies. You know how my memory gets," He answered with an eerie tinge to his words. Rush loved to play with her emotions, they were so unpredictable. He chuckled to himself as she glared at him.

Ben

They left Cedrick alone in the living room as he began his incantations. Both of them had spent enough time in contact with the supernatural to know that when someone said they needed silence to get something done, they needed total silence.

Ben closed the door between the kitchen and the living room, sitting down at the table, "So, what happens while we wait?" he asked.

Gatian

He rushed down the main road leading to Saint Peter's gates the second he was able to. But an archangel blocked him as he tried to leave, "You're going after Jinx, aren't you?"

Gatian stopped dead, his face becoming deadpan. Why is this guy not feeling anything? How is he keeping such a tight lid on his emotions? "What of it?"

The archangel - Michael, he recognised him as now - hung his head a little, seeming sad, "You're too late, then. Gabriel’s messengers have been looking for her mother again, but the demons purport to have found her first. They’ve told Jinx she’s in either the Rockies or the Appalachians. She’s…not. We’ve got people there, spread out enough to sense any angel in the area.”

Gatian frowned, “Then why would the demons…?”

Michael cut him off, “Demons lie. It’s a fact of existence. And Jinx is halfway between us and them. We don’t know what she’s already told them, but we think they mean to trap her and bring them fully onto their side. If that happens, she’ll be the monster she always feared she’d become.”

“And you’ll just let that happen?”

“No. That’s why there are angels in the mountains. We’re going to send more as soon as we can.” Gatian opened his mouth, but Michael continued, “You will not be going. You’re too emotionally tied to this.”

Gatian’s face remained as stony as Michael’s, although he knew he should be spitting with outrage and indignation, “You’ve got to be joking. I don’t feel my own emotions, I just take those of others on board.”

“You’ve got your own heart under that, Gatian. It’s like a subconscious sense, but it’s there. You’re not going to find Jinx."

Gatian remained standing there for a moment, then walked around Michael, towards the gates, "I'm not doing anything here. So I'm not staying." He walked through the gates and off the edge of the outermost sphere of heaven, his wings spreading as he plummeted towards Earth and catching him as he entered the atmosphere, sending him shooting across the sky with unnatural speed.

Jude-

"We hope that it works." I answered. I still looked like a complete mess. I knew we couldn't make too much noise, even with the door closed. I walked towards the refridgerator and looked at the nearly empty shelves. I hadn't been shopping in a while. I wasn't really hungry anyways. I always lost my appetite when things started to get complicated.

Instead I pulled out my book. I was getting old. It had been passed down through my family for generations, there were notes and markings in other languages all over the outsides and insides of the book. It was mostly a book of exorcisms, weaponry, and demon repelling spells. Although, there were a few spells that didn't seem to do anything, or where beyond my capabilities, and two that were in a language I couldn't even find on the internet.

I wanted to say something to Ben, anything really, to break the silence. But what do you say? I knew if I opened my mouth something stupid would fall out. He was making me nervous, and it was a stupid move to get involved, but there was something about him.

I had my back to him as I looked through the book. I had been half considering trying to figure out some of the symbols and texts. A few of them I knew were demon traps. I couldn't focus, the silence was killing me. It was the loudest and most obnoxious silence I had ever heard, or not heard I guess.

I decided to do some supernatural housekeeping. I flipped to a bookmarked page in the book. It was a protection spell, to keep yourself from being possessed or eveb from being harmed by supernatural weapons if done correctly.

"Ben, give me a piece of your shirt." I said, reaching my hand behind me.

"What?" He asked bewildered. I tore a square off my own shirt and layed it flat on the table.

"Just, come on." I said and felt him place a piece of his own shirt in my hand, his hand was warm. I tried to ignore my brain and layed his piece of shirt next to mine. I pulled out the ingredients, and scavenged for some sissors. When I found them I walked towards Ben in his chair.

"What are you doing?" He probably thought I was crazy.

"I'm trying to help, trust me. It's just a little lock of hair." He relaxed a little and I walked towards him. I leaned down to cut a lock of hair from the back of his head, somewhere less noticeable. I reached behind his head and could feel his breath on my arm. I tried to ignore that. I searched for a place to cut the hair from that wouldn't be as noticable, not that looks really mattered when it comes to war. I was taking my time for more reasons than one.

Ben

It took him a few moments to realise that she wasn't just trying to get a few apparently useless things off him, but rather working on some kind of spell. He shook his head a little to himself, Should've guessed that the second she pulled out a big old book. Now why didn't I...? He silently cursed himself as he realised why.

She was moving the hair about at the back of his head, apparently searching for one particular lock of hair among many. He let out a slight chuckle.

She stopped and pulled back, frowning a little at him, "Something funny?"

Ben smiled in response, "You're taking your time with my hair." He moved back in his chair a little, his face mere inches from hers. Screw common sense. he thought, In all probability, we're both dead anyway. He didn't say that out loud, of course, "There any reason for that?"

Gatian

The clouds were sliced open around him as he cut a tight circle, swooping down over the Appalachians. He focused his senses, questing for what he knew to be a very peculiar set of emotions. Intense self-loathing, sadness, fear of hurting those around her...where is she?

He folded his wings and dived at an angle, heading north at intense speed. He was picking up a slight sense of what he was looking for from there.

Jude-

I half smiled half smirked then handed him the glasses, "Cut your own hair then. The spell won't work with out it."

I immediatly regretting being irrationally angry for a moment, because no I had no reason to be as close to him as I had been. I turned back towards the book. Why did he make me so crazy.

I wanted to make a move or something before Cedrik finished, but I couldn't think of anything smooth or not lame to do. I felt like I was back in high school trying to ask my crush to the sadie hawkins dance.

He sighed, it hadn't exactly been the reaction he'd wanted from her. He looked down at the scissors for a second, then placed them on the table. "Sorry, Jude. You know what you're doing better than me here. Can you cut it?"

At her slightly bemused smile, he grinned back sheepishly, "I don't want to do a terrible job of it, and I know I would." He stood up and walked across to her, leaning over her shoulder to see the book. "Or you could just let me have a read of the book, if you're that hell bent on making me do it myself."

Jude-

"Go ahead and take a look at the book, maybe you can figure out some of it's secrets." I said picking up the sissors, "just hold still while I cut your hair."

He nodded and moved in front of me and peered over the book. I had to reach on my tip toes to reach the back of his head. I almost fell as I slightly lost my balance but managed to regain my posture, hoping he hadn't noticed. He seemed so engrossed in the book, meanwhile I was so very aware of every move he made.

It's funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.
