I was sort of hoping a few more people would post their characters arriving before I wrote the big speech/ announcement thing...

Sabrina

Sabrina walked out of the gym, her bag slung across her back. She smiled as the cool breeze played across her sweaty forehead. She hadn't had a chance to take a shower after practice, her mom was fixing roast chicken that night, and Sabrina did not want to be late.

Suddenly, Sabrina paused. A man marched toward her purposefully. She tensed. By no means was she afraid of the city center, but one still must exercise caution... And if that man wore an ancient looking British military uniform... Well, he must be crazy. There weren't any historical reenactment sites around here...

"Miss," the man tipped his hat to her. Sabrina almost curtsied. Almost. She decided the man might take it as mocking his outfit. Instead, Sabrina gave him a small smile.

"Good afternoon..." Sabrina began to attempt to walk away. The man fell in step with her.

"Sabrina Sanders, am I correct?" he asked. Sabrina came to a sudden stop and spun around to look at the man.

"How do you know my name?" she demanded.

The man stared at her indignantly. "I have a proposal for you," he said, slightly miffed.

"What?" asked Sabrina suspiciously.

**is that enough for what you want?

Cydney

Eyeing the factory, Cydney walked down the old walkway. There were small windows on the sides and the doors looked a little rusty.

She opened the door and stepped inside. It looked like some sort of convention center, with folding chairs and a stage. There were several people sitting in the chairs. Cydney sat down next to a small woman.

"Hello, I'm Cindy. And you are?" Cindy looked a little pequliar, like she didn't belong.

"Cydney," she said.

=) Thank you

Walter

"You are the last on my list so I plead that I may be pardoned for talking with haste but I am in control of the company Ire and you have been designated as a possible benefactor of our experiment. If you will come with me, I can tell more at the meeting. It is at a building just a short walk from here, do lend me your arm and let us make haste." Walt took the girl's agreement as certain and did not await her response. He took her arm in his, noting only briefly her surprise, and led her at a brisk walk down the road.

Walt was finding that he did not care very much for the modern women. Already he had altered his manor to accommodate them but all this asking of their permission and treating them as equal was taxing on his health which was growing brittle in his old age.

"We are here," Walt announced but a few minutes later, mildly aware that she garbled some strange protests at him, something about needing to be home with her mother.

"Nonsense, sweet madame, your mother will be most pleased at you for fetching home wage and virtue for your family. Come now, meet with the others." Walter was very pleased to see that many of the chairs were filled and he left the girl to find a seat as he made his way to the front. He noted Cindy's presence in the crowd with some irritation though he was not sure why he should feel this toward her. It is the affect of these modern women that such vigor in feeling should be transferred to one of my own.

"Good Sirs and Madams, I will now commence to tell you the details of my proposal. It is that you shall each be paid a sum of fifty thousand pounds or equivalent for taking part in a two month long process. One month of this time will be spent in preparation in which time certain drugs will be administered to your body and it will undergo changes, gaining powers beyond your present experience. The second month you will give us to study these powers. After that you are free, you will be paid and you will have your new ability. Any questions?"

I looked at John, but he too was thinking hard on this so called proposal.

"So?" I asked.

"It must have a other side to it" He replied.

"So, come on, lets just take the money and go through whatever drugs they give us. Maybe we will get Powers like t hey said." I said with a wink.

John gave me a 'as if' look and turned to look at our host.

"I'm in" I said raising my hands without a second thought.

It was only after i raised my hand did i notice everyone was looking at me like i was mad.

Sabrina

Sabrina raised a hand nervously. "I'm a minor," she said. "I need parental permission before I can - "

"That has already been gained. Your mother backs you, should you choose to participate. You need only to let her know you decision."

"Oh," said Sabrina, blinking. Her mother would have talked to Sabina about it if she thought the experiment would be dangerous... And - to join might prove interesting... The Olympics wouldn't carry Sabrina for her entire life... If she were to participate, it might open opportunities for her later on... "In that case..." said Sabrina slowly. "I guess I'm in, then..."

Name: Benji
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Talent: Drawing
Occupation: Student / delivery boy
Appearance: He's small, got fluffy black hair, dark blue eyes, looks really girly and dresses camp (except never in pink)
History: He was raised by his mum with little contact with the rest of the family, so they're really close and stick together. He doesn't tell her about the bad stuff like fighting in school or smoking, because he doesn't want her to worry.
Personality: He tries to do as he's told and conform, and fails most of the time. He's really nice to the people he likes, and is always making fun of the people he doesn't. He likes playing around and acting immature, and loves graffitti art.
Reason for Accepting : When he got approached, he thought he'd been caught for skipping lesson to have a smoke, and agreed to the experiment on the terms that nobody turned him in.

Can I join?

Of course you can, West! Just post Benji's opinion of the speech and his acceptance and then I'll have Cindy move out characters across to their new location.

Fifty thousand pounds! Blimey! With fifty thousand pounds he could buy his mum her own flat, quit running round with pizzas in the pouring rain, and invest in a decent pair of trainers.

The whole 'new powers' situation seemed a little dodgy, Benji thought. It was the kind of stuff he found in comic books and movies. His mind was drifting somewhere between V for Vendetta and X men evolution.

'We're not going to get locked in little cages and fed bird food are we?' He asked.

'Your accommodation will be adequate.'

'I guess that means no... Okay, I think I'm in.' He loosened his tie, unbuttoned the top of his shirt and slouched back against a wall, waiting to hear what came next.

Cynthia

One by one all the volunteers agreed to the program. Cindy thought that was a very silly thing to do considering how little information they had been given. A little part of her disagreed and said it was right and proper but Cynthia was beginning to forget just which parts were her and which belonged to the modern woman.

"Very well, thank you all for your aid. You will not be disapointed. My colleague Cindy will drive us to the establishment," Walter announced. Cindy stood and began to lead the way outside, trying to ignore a tiny portion of her that insisted she couldn't drive and most certainly didn't own a car. Outside, a vehicle was being driven over. Cindy recognised it as being an army truck, modern and very scary looking. She wondered how it had come to be there but decided she had best follow Walter's orders. Why? Why follow a man's orders?

There was room at the front for two and Cindy found herself accompanied by Walter as all the volunteers climbed into the back. It was going to be an uncomfortable ride but at least they wouldn't see where they were being taken; the location would remain secret. That seemed to be very important to Walt who was scowling in concentration.

Cindy found that driving was actually quite an enjoyable experience and happily made her way along to the underground base. She was surprised to find that in her ansence more security fences had been erected around the perimeter and the outer door had been reinforced. She drove the truck down to a large, steel room in the bowels of the earth and then climbed down.

"We are arrived," Cindy announced. Walter glared at her and a part of Cynthia shrank back realising it wasn't her place to say that but most of her looked right back at the general until he huffed away and opened the great, steel door.

"Your rooms are this way," he said. Walter led them through to the lower rooms of which there were two, each filled with ten beds. "This one for the males and this for the females. You may explore as you wish but locked rooms are out of bounds." Walter smirked at that. There were few rooms that weren't currently locked. In fact, they had access only to the sitting room and the dining room, neither of which were very interesting. "If you desire food, knock on the door at the far side of the dining room and the cook will see to you."

Cook? Cindy wondered. Who else was there, who is it that is also awake. Cook? Oh, it must be Evangelina!

I looked around completely bored, the next minute i was sitting on a bed that i had chosen to be mine, at the far end of the room.

The others too sat on their beds, most of us had come unpacked and unready, we had not realized that we had come unprepared until now as we were so exited or scared before.

We were rallying around to talk to each other, getting to know each other. We were all humans and after all company is something we all wanted.

*okay its short but i made that post for the sake of keeping this storybook alive, so please post guys!*

It suddenly occured to Benji that two months away from home was a long time, especially considering he'd never been away for longer than a five day camping trip with his school. Even though he would never admit, worry was starting to settle in a cosy little corner at the back of his mind.

'So, we're going to become superfreaks,' he sighed, not entirely bothered that nobody seemed to respond.

He sat down on one of the beds, which felt like a step up from concrete.

'Adequate, eh?' He made his way to a window which gave way after some struggle, lit a cigarette and stared out the window at the threatening fences around. It was at this point he was thankful he'd bought a new packet of pretty white sticks before school.

"Who knows how long we'll be here" Said someone then added "So we should at least get to know each other"

No one answered for a while.

"I'm John" Said John nodding at the rest.

A few seconds later everyone else began introducing themselves including me.
