Why hello there, fancy seeing you here. Okay so I've not had a storybook of my own for a while now and it's really starting to depress me so I thought I'd create one but with no ideas in mind, I'm thinking on my feet here. There's been a sudden increase in the number of storybooks created which means participation has taken a bit of a hit. Just a not-so-random fact for you there ^^

Here's the details:

Rating

The storybook is PG-13. The use of damn, hell, shit, bloody, freaking, fiddlesticks, darn, drat, gosh, jeez, crotch, arse, balls and arsehole are allowed. If you are unsure about a word not featured here, ask me over pm or use one of the above as a substitute.

Relationships are permitted but not of a sexual variety. Again, if you're unsure how far you are allowed to go pm me.

Plot

The secret organisation of Ire is back and it's looking for volunteers.

It was early in the eighteenth century when the original founders of Ire finished their research and the creation of a drug. The aim of this drug was that it would pin-point the strongest talent of an individual and magnify that one hundred fold. They thought they had it perfect. They called on a small section of the public for volunteers and cautiously (and secretly) people came forth and the drug was applied to them. They called the volunteers V-amp Ires but soon they were nicknamed the Vampires. After a week of preparation during which time the volunteers' bodies were strengthened with vitamins and medication, they were ready. The drug consisted of three injections. After administration of the first, the test subjects fell into comas one by one. Then the second was delivered: as the volunteers were sustained, by the same tubes another liquid, the famous 'V gene' was pumped through their systems.

After two weeks the third injection was given to the first ten volunteers. They woke within days and for the next two weeks were watched closely. They showed signs of a small increase in their talent but the organisation soon lost interest in them. One night while they slept in their hospital beds safe behind the military walls, they were gassed to death and struck from all records but for one: a diary. Ire waited another month before it woke the next ten volunteers and these ten were to become famous, they were to become Vampires. A rogue virus had become mixed with the third drug contaminating its simple reflex action of waking the patients from their drug induced sleep and instead it changed their anatomy and they became what the modern world deems blood thirsty creatures of myth.

The final ten were never given that third drug. The Vampires killed their creators in a sudden thirst for blood, they fled out into the world knowing only that they were Vampires who had once been human. But this is not their story. This is the story of those final ten.

In a military building deep in the heart of England, closed off, underground, buried and forgotten there are ten inhabitants. Seven slumber in a hospital room, the same sustaining fluids being flushed through their bodies over and over again along with the V gene. The other three have woken to success. They each possess a heightened talent that has been pushed beyond the human capacity. For example, a person who might be good at singing would then have the equivalent of a siren's voice or a person with a talent in music might be able to control a person's emotions through playing. Cynthia, Walter and Evangelina.

Your Characters

Walter and Evangelina will become available later in the storybook but for now I will control them and I will be writing their bios. Cynthia is mine.

Your characters are currently ordinary modern day humans who are about to be approached and extended the offer to take part in an experiment of their life-times. They currently know none of the above details. When you choose their talent, you can pm me a suggestion of how you would like it to manifest itself as a power but I will not necessarily agree. Here is the format you should follow, feel free to add more:

And that took me quite a while to write out so I'll post the three bios later but for now I'll say that the following talents are not allowed:

And I reserve the right to ask a person to change their talent or to land you with a really lousy increasement on your talent if I deem you already far too talented in the wrong areas. You can pm me for guidance on that.

Name-Alex Evans
Age-26
Gender- male
Talent: very smart , knows a lot about science most of it in medical but a still a lot about it in general
Occupation: Has no job at the moment he took a year off to travel the world
Appearance: He is tall and skinny some but not much mussel, he has shaggy Black hair that hangs over his eyes which are blue.
History:He was a straight A student and also the class clown joking around a lot getting a good balance or work and fun. He decided to be a doctor when he was in 12th grade and so he applied to many schools all over the world cause he wanted to see it and because he was accepted to an American school (where he lived) he took a year off to explore the world and was in England at the time of the experiment.
Personality: He is very funny and clownish but will be very serious when times are extreme. He is calm under pressure but also very prone to turning on someone even for the smallest of reasons,

Name- John Scott

Age- 21

Gender- Male

Talent- Insight. He's good at reading people and can sometimes tell is someone is lying or bluffing, though he has been proven wrong.

Occupation- College student. Is studying literature and journalism. Part time job as a pizza delivery boy.

History- Grew up in a small town in England just outside of London. His elder brother James was a Journalist for the local newspaper and got John hooked on it. Their parents died when John was 13, his brother was 20. Ever since then it's just been the two of them. John Graduated when he was 19 and was accepted a year and a half ago into college.

Personality- An aloof kind of guy. Not usually one to take things seriously, but always has a respect for things. Not really a funny guy, but he does have a playful feel about him. He is rarely ever sad or upset. You know something is wrong if John starts acting serious.

Reason for Accepting- Money. Was told he would be paid for taking the experiment and could use the money for school so he doesn't have to take out loans.

Name: Cydney Simpson

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Talent: She understands a lot about the human mind.

Occupation: Physiological Therapist

History: She was raised in a upper middle class home with a loving family. All of her friends told her that she gave great advice and she could understand people in an instant.
Personality: She is a sweet woman with a sparkling personality. She is beautiful but not vain about it. Everybody loves her.

Reason for accepting: She was doing research on people who tested for drugs and wanted to find out more.

Other: Up for love.

Name: Ballow Linx
Age (Minimum age of sixteen and maximum of fifty): 17
Gender Male

Talent: The ability to aim, as in basically throwing things. So he's good at shooting hoops, kicking goals. The things in sports and such which involve aiming.
Occupation: Son of a Trillionaire

History: Well, living the life of the child of a Trillionaire is all fun and games. He never had to do anything himself, his father made sure he was "happy". Given a credit card at the age of 5 he was allowed to do anything, but if he did somehting wrong his father would just bribe whoever was wronged and shut them up. His father was never an active part of Ballow's life, juat soemthign that lingered in the back. Ballow was aaured everything and anything, but he was never given love. Growing up like that he has no sense of right or wrong. His father forced him to go to the most prestegeous school in the world and forced hte principal to give him good grades. His father didn't want anything except the perfect son on his records and the only thing Ballow could do himself which he was proud of was that he had a good talent of aiming or estimating or accuracy.

Personality: Ballow as I emntioned has no sense of right or wrong, so he just acts according to what would fit his perception of life. He always has a smile on and it barely ever slips, but when it does he begins to cry. He's not a wuss nor is he stupid. He would've have been a normal guy is he had been raised right. But noiw he has a strange sens eof humour and amazing crash honesty.

Reason for Accepting (This could be anything from 'for the hell of it' to 'long term plans for world domination'): Ballow was sick of his life and saw nothing wrong except his perception of getting out of his situation. Also his father had put Ballow's name down and Ballow's father (Ballow's father's money is the governments money as he usually lends money to everyone - with interest) was one of the money outlets which the company used to draw their income and resources from.

Name: Zire

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Talent: An expert in the martial arts (Wushu)

Occupation: A student studying literature and psychiatry (I that's possible where this storybook is in), but usually when not busy studies the paranormal.

History: The only son of a normal family. He was home schooled until he was 10. At the age of 11 he was admitted into a boarding school and from there went to collage, and has been there since.

Personality: Usually keeps to himself and dark to outsiders, but friendly and kind to his fiends.

Reason for Accepting: For the hell of it and a small itch of World Domination.

Name: Felicity

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Talent: She's amazingly good at disguise. She can change herself into anyone by just using foundation and eyeliner. (if necessary)

Occupation: A drifter.

Appearance: She has thick red hair to her mid-back, deep blue eyes, elegant features, she's small, svelte, and has a lively stance.

History: She grew up with a single mom and 5 siblings. One day, her mother committed suicide. She was only 9 when that happened and was put in an orphanage. She was soon fed up with the cruel lifestyle and escaped.

Personality: She's very bold and daring. Sometimes she can get very impulsive and random. She's also very frank. She's not quick to trust people.

Reason for Accepting: She needed a drastic life change.

Other: She carries a shoulder bag around with all her necessities.

Everyone: If you're still unsure why you can't have that talent or would like help choosing a new one, please pm me. Those who have been accepted may suggest what they would like their talents to later expand to but once again, I might have something else in mind. And by the way, the more mundane your power is, the harder I will search for a cool manifestation because you will be at a disadvantage in the early stages of the storybook when conversing with and getting to know the other volunteers so it would only be fair to place you at an advantage later on.

Name: Cynthia (Cindy) Bennett.
Age: 24.
Gender: Female.
Talent: Acting.
Occupation: Cynthia was originally a mediocre actress. She wasn't good at much in her life, struggling to find work, barely pushing by but if she could be said to be talented in anything, it was in becoming a person she was not, it was in transforming from a quiet, humble individual into a loud and boisterously nagging wife or a murderous sister. But she didn't have a lot of talent for remembering her lines.
Appearance: Long, ash-blond hair and blue-grey eyes. Her skin is smooth and soft and she's small and very petite. She's dressed like this and her hair is in that style.
History: A man by the name of Albert who once worked at Cynthia's school in the theatre department discovered her to be both beautiful, an excellent actress and easily compelled. He quit his job and stole her away, leading her into the world of acting. He found her work and all was good at first and a few years later he took her for his wife. But the world lost patience with an actress who couldn't remember her lines and their wealth began to diminish and there was only lust from Albert though she truly thought she loved him. And for Albert, Cynthia would do anything and what he wanted was money.
Personality: Quiet, agreeable, humble and very much reserved. She is a woman of the upper class of the 18th century. She learned little other than acting, how to walk, how to write and how to darn in school.
Reason for Accepting: She thought it would improve her acting abilities and help her remember her lines. She also knew she'd be paid either way and wanted the money to make Albert happy.
Recent History: Cindy has not yet woken but will soon.
Manifestation: Cynthia's power will manifest itself in the form of her being able to become anyone she wants to. When Cynthia thinks 'Romeo' she is Romeo in every sense from her clothes to her speech to her very thoughts, all except a tiny portion of her brain is given over to the role. But that tiny portion is in control in the sense that whenever she wants to stop being Romeo, she stops immediately and becomes herself again.


Name: Evangelina Furrows.
Age: 19.
Gender: Female.
Talent: Evangelina always thought herself to be rather good at singing and wanted nothing better than to have that talent improved. She never considered cooking to be a skill. It was just something she had to do.
Occupation: Servant/ Play-mate.
Appearance: Short black hair and dark eyes. She's thin and small as a woman of her century would be and her hands are heavily calloused. History: Evangelina came from a large family and as the second eldest daughter she was sent to work as a servant to help support her younger siblings. She was thirteen when she first started working there, cleaning and acting as play mate for their own daughter. She moved in at the age of fifteen and resented her young mistress who didn't understand the meaning of hard work. She hated every hour her mistress demanded of her time because then she had to work harder to make up for it.
Recent History: Evangelina was the second to wake and fell into the natural pattern of obeying Walter who explained briefly the situation to her. Knowing it was not her place to ask anything else, while Walter went out and collected volunteers and prepared the base, Evangelina cleaned up. She removed the skeletons of the former founders, painted over the blood etc. She also secretly looked into the curiosity of how they had been preserved while the centuries passed and decided it must have been something to do with the liquid being propelled through their bodies.
Personality: She's a tough sort of woman who has worked hard all her life and she's not altogether unwilling to argue with a male but generally knows her place.
Reason for Accepting: The money and the chance for a better life.
Manifestation: Evangelina only has to consider cooking a meal and she can will into existence the very best of food. She is mildly pleased that it takes one chore from her list but would have preferred the singing and is highly jealous of Cindy.


Name: Walter (Walt) Burke.
Age: 41.
Gender: Male.
Talent: Military Intelligence.
Occupation: Officer for the Royal Regiment of Artillery.

History: Walt was getting old and beginning to feel he was only good at parading. He was getting stiff and only his mind was working right. He knew he didn't have many years left and he wanted a chance to do his duty one last time and blow the other countries to smithereens.
Personality: A very organised, intelligent military man. He's used to being listened to and he can come across as very scary.
Reason for Accepting: He wanted to help Britain take over the world.
Recent History: The first to wake, Walt has spent the last two months discovering everything he can about this century and has read all the records of the project and decided to continue the work they started to make a race of highly intelligent people who can help him to spread the British empire.
Manifestation: Walt's brain has become filled with the information of every battle ever fought and some that still wait to be fought. He finds it difficult to distinguish between those of the past and the future but he knows exactly what does and doesn't work in any given military situation and is learning how to apply that knowledge to his new life.

So when can we start?

Any time. People can make their first post whenever they are ready. It should start with an ordinary day for their character and end with them being approached by Walt or Evangelina. They will be dressed as featured above.

If you want your character to be approached by Walt, end with what they think of seeing a strange man dressed as a general on whatever street they see him and either have him walking toward them or making a mass announcement that he's looking for volunteers for an experiment that would improve the human race.

If you want to be approached by Evangelina, she's a meeker person and would most likely talk to people in small groups or approach them one at a time.

Please don't have Walt or Evangelina explain the details of the experiment. I'll step in after your first posts and decide how much your character is told.

(Hey Firestalker, I noticed both our characters are in college and studying literature. I was wondering if I was ok for us to be classmates or friends? If not I'll modify my post a bit.)

John sat atop a stone bench reading his latest novel for class. Sighing he slapped it shut and set it down. "I wounder if Professor Niles will ever give us something interesting to read?" He laid his head back and rested a moment enjoying the peace, but soon felt someone standing next to him. He opened one eye to see one of his classmates standing next to him reading, "So how far into the book are you?"

The boy didn't really seem to care, but replied all the same, "97, you?"

"129. Personally I think the teacher could have done better. Still, anything is better then listening to his speeches, so I got a little ahead." John paused waiting for the boy to speak, but he just took a seat and kept reading. "My names John, how about you?"

Looking at him with an annoyed look on his face he replied, "Zire."

John quickly realized he was annoyed with him and got up to leave, but just as he stood up a strange voice came from behind him, "Good afternoon sires, can I ask you a question?"

John turned around and saw a strange looking man. He seemed dressed in an old British army uniform. John stared blankly for a moment before shaking his head. "Sorry about that. Not every day you see someone dressed like you," he said scratching his head, "What's on your mind?"

Cydney

Cydney pulled up in her driveway, exhausted from work. There were so many people with problems.

She briskly got up out of the car and started for her apartment. Upon reaching the front door, she was confronted by a timid looking woman.

"Hello miss," the woman said. "My name is Evangelina. I assume that you are Dr. Simpson?" Stunned, Cydney nodded her head yes.

"Well, I heard that you were researching people who went into testing for science. It would be a great experience for you to take part in our research," Evangelina scanned her, as if looking for something on Cydney.

Cydney thought for a long moment. This would be a great opportunity to get into the minds of the people.

"Sure, why not?"

Name: Mikael Eisenstein
Age: 21
Gender: Male.
Talent: Deep understanding of forces and how to apply them in everything from opening a door to breaking a jaw
Occupation: Studying for a Masters degree in physics
Appearance: 6' 5 With medium length blonde hair and reasonable dress sense
History: A lonely geek still living at home he found a way to get into college. Hacking. After caught hacking into something called Operation Valkyrie he ran leaving his life behind. Unfortunately somebody found him. In need of money to bribe this anonymous man Mikael accepted an invitation into the program.
Personality: Like every nerd he prefers being alone but when required works well in a team.
Reason for Accepting: Needs money to bribe a military official.
