Not a part of that, but am a part of Phi Theta Kappa. Basically, you join, and the doors to thousands of scholarships and colleges are opened, mainly bacause you're a part of the fraternity.
To get in, you need to have excellent grades, so it's only offered to kids who seem dedicated to their success. Having it on your resume pushes up your chances of getting a job, having it on your college transcript makes it more likely you'll get in, etc. Mainly because it's only offered to those who got good grades, so it has the prestigious part with it. Even if you don't care for prestige, employers and colleges might, and often do. good thing to have.
But then, that's Phi Theta Kappa. Phi Mu Alpha? Dunno. But there're many of the Phi - ___ - _____ fraternities out there that are more or less the same thing.
