"Why did you want to know about htat place?" He asked looking at her.

"Because it was my grandfathers." She shrugge.d "He left it to me."

"That's your grandfather's land!" He said shocked. "No one has lived there for a while."

"HE moved close to us a long time ago." She replied.

"Ok, you can shift!" He said looking at her surprised.

"Ya, so? You can too." She smiled a little looking at him. He shrugged.

"Fair enough." He took a deep breath. "What do you know about shifting?"
"And you wonder why we don't like you!" -Trumpkin

Layton shugged slightly. "Not much. I've only been able to do it for a couple of months, but my brother's also a shifter. Was my grandfather?" She asked suddenly, eyes wide. Chevy just nodded once. "Hmm... that explains it I guess. Naji had a book with him when we were bonded that tells the owner anything they want to know. Eh... I recently found out that alot of you on the reservation can shift... That's about it..." She smiled lightly, sighing. Something about him was extremely familiar. "My turn to ask you a couple of something." Chevy looked up quickly, slightly surprised.

"Did you know my grandfather well?" She twiddled her fingers, her feet still more interesting.

"Yes, but not that well. He was my granddad's best friend, but moved away when I was three or four." Chevy sighed lightly.

"And, do you remember anything?" Layton chewed on the corner of her lip.

"Well, he was moving in with his daughter, because he was very sick and needed a really good doctor. He had his son-in-law, daughter, three year old granddaughter, and six year old grandson with him. Why?" Layton just smiled at him.

"No reason." She drew out her words, making it seem suspicious.

"My butt." He huffed with a smile. "There is a reason."

"Did I ever come out here?" She asked suddenly.

"Once, maybe twice, I don't reember much about it. Only that I was always glad you did cause it was someone else to play with other then the normal friends I had." He shrugged. "Why?"

Layton just shook her head with a smile, her smile falling slightly due to the fact that Naji was laughing inside her head. "Nothing really. I just have really bad memory. Ooh! I've got an idea! Let's play twenty questions!" Chevy looked a bit doubtful. "Oh come on. It'll be fun. Besides, it's only six. We'll take turns!" Layton used to always play this game with her friends.

"What's your full name?" Chevy smiled lightly, almost entrancingly.

"Layton Paige Riley. Hmm... what's your full name?"

"Cheveyo Aldo White Hawk." He replied.

"Wow, that's long." She smiled.

"Ya, well, that's the name I was given." He thought for a few minutes. "How old are you? Let's put a little twist to it. YOu have to answer you own question. That way the other person can't just steal the one said before they said it."

Layton smiled widely and shrugged. "Sure. More fun I suppose. I'm seventeen turning eighteen in November. And you?"

"Ninteen." Layton smiled and nodded, waiting for him to ask the next question.

Layton! Can I got lay down now? Naji whined mentally. Layton sighed, granting him permission.

Chevy rocked back a little and then smiled.

"What do you know about shifters?" He asked softly.

"Not to much." She said shrugging.

"That doesn't answer my question, what do you know about it? Do you know how to control waht you change into and so on?" He smiled.

Layton sighed but couldn't help from smiling at Chevy. "I know how to do most of it, and control alot, except the reaction my body has to my emotions. If I'm too angry I become a bear, to nervous I turn into a squirrel, and if I'm embarrassed I turn into a mountain lion. Happy is a dog, lazy is a sloth house cat, you know, the usual. But, that's all. What stinks is I know about your control over it and such." Chevy laughed deeply.

"Yeah, I'm sure Leal told you, but I can control a lot of it as well." Layton laughed lightly and thought of her own question.

"Oh! What is your biggest pet peeve?" She smiled widely.

"People who want to control my life." He replied. "Like Ranger, he thinks that he has control over what we do. He also knows that he can't ban me because I was protecting th... you." He smiled.

"So you aren't banned?" She asked. "I don't want you kicked out."

"No, he can't kick me out. In fact what happened hlelped my case a lot more then you would think. I'm surprised you can shift though, it's handy." He smiled.

Layton smiled lightly. Thank god he wasn't banned. "Oh yeah. I was supposed to answer that too huh?" Layton cocked her head to the side and Chevy nodded. "Hmm... I have alot but the biggest ones would probably have to be when someone is smacking their gum right next to me or when I see Braile at drive-thru windows. It's almost as if they're making fun of those with eye problems. Okay, your turn to ask something." Chevy grinned lightly.

"What's the worst thing someone did to you?" He smiled lightly.

Layton couldn't tell him the real worst thing that happened to her. That would be... akward. "Um... probably when my grandfather died. He was one of my best friends." Okay, so that was the second worst thing that ever happened to her.

"Probably when a friend of mine deserted me when we were both in lion form and there were hunters around. He knew the hunters were there and didn't tell me they were there. They caught me before I could shift and they tore my back open real bad before I got away." He winced at the memory. "Are you the only one in your family that can shift?"

"No." She replied.

"Both of my brothers and my dad and mom can shift." He smiled. "Your turn."

"My brother and I can shift and my parents hate that because my grandfather could do it as well. My mom seems to dislike my brother alot because he's always in some kind of animal form around the house, always claiming that the powers skipped a generation. Um... If you had one word to describe yourself , what would you choose?" Layton smiled widely.

"Rebellious." He grinned. "That's surprising that it would skip a generation> "I've never heard of that happening again."

"Really?" She asked.

"Ya, now you need to discribe yourself in one word, then answer me this..." He smiled slightly. "What do you want to know about shifting?"

"Uhm... one word would have to be crazy. For the other one I'd definately say that I want to know how to control my emotions with shifting and what imprinting is. Leal told me but I still don't understand completely. It'd be stupid for you to answer that same question, so I have to ask you the question what's your biggest regret?" Layton cocked her head to the side, smiling lightly.
