Lethero Sr.

Zel landed lightly on the ground and crouched down to let Lethero of his back. When he slid off Zel turned into his human form and walked into the cave. "Mother!" he called into the cave. "I've returned."

"So soon?" asked a femenine voice from the cave. "And I since that you brought another."

"Hey Ajle," Lethero said walking towards the cave. "Nice to see you after all these years."

Zel

I cringed slightly and turned to Lethero, holding my hands palm-out in front of me. I cast a glance behind me before turning back to him.

"Uh...sir, let me do the talking for a moment, please. You...you don't understand..." I turned again, away from him.

"Understand what?" he murmured behind me, touching my shoulder. I shook my head and walked forward.

"Who is that, Zel?" my mother asked as I approached her part of the cave, my arm around Lethero's back as I helped him forward. I noticed his wounds had grown worse and were bleeding again.

"Er...an old friend," I said quietly. I stopped and left Lethero leaning against a wall, whispering for him to stay there for now. He gave me an odd look but nodded wearily. I smiled quickly in thanks and walked up to Alje.

"What old friend? One of mine?" she asked, looking at me suspiciously.

I nodded and looked down. She put a finger under my chin and I shuddered as she raised my head.

"Who?" Her voice was deadly.

I hesitated. She repeated her question.

"Who did you bring with you, Zel?"

Before I could answer. Lethero had stepped up behind me. I winced and moved between the two of them as my mother recognized him.

"Lethero?" she asked quietly. Then she turned her gaze back to me. "You brought Lethero? If I had wanted to see anyone, I would've gone myself rather than sending an infant."

"I'm not an infant," I replied calmly. "And he wanted to come. He's hurt."

Her eyes softened slightly, moving to look at Lethero. She moved around me and smirked.

"Well, look who got old."

"Well, I don't age as slowly as you," Lethero replied weakly. "Time wears me down faster."

"You look like you've seen battle recently," Ajle commited.

"Sadly, yes. It seems the Priest's army reached us faster than I thought. It was a cheap shot too, attacking us in the middle of the night."

"Yeah, but you know as well as I do, all is fair in war." Ajle moved closer to Lethero and held out a glowing palm. "Let me help those heal. I know at your age you won't survive long without those wounds."

"Thanks," Lethero said as broken skin sealed back together. "So can you tell me what you know of the Priest now?"
