Or,
how to anger the writing/publishing community at large:

(I thought this would be vaguely amusing/horrifying for some of you.)
"He yanked himself free and fled to the kitchen where something huddled against the flooded windowpanes. It sighed and wept and tapped continually, and suddenly he was outside, staring in, the rain beating, the wind chilling him, and all the candle darkness inside lost."

That is so funny! What a moron for actually sending that letter!
*Don't expect to see me around much in the next couple of weeks. School has started again, and it'll be a couple of weeks before I've settled in. If you've asked me for a critique, you will get it, but not for a little while. Sorry*

Oh my God. I do not want to be an agent. That sort of crap would give me a hernia for laughing so hard.

That's insane, and he's an idiot. He might hurt someone if he joined something like YWS.

But really. 14 paragraph rant on nothing? *shakes head*

Apparently, this guy had sent a similar response to a number of different agents who rejected his work.

The other funny/unfortunate thing is that this has been making its way around numerous blogs of writers, publishers, and agents of the genre. And because it's such a tightly-knit community, a lot of pretty important authors, agents, and publishers have probably read this or have at least seen it. (I found it off of John Scalzi's blog, which is frequented by Tor publishers Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden, authors like Scott Westerfield and Charles Stross, and numerous other prolific people in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.) Whoops on his part.
