Kumiko

"What happened Marjorie?" she asked, having known her since they were children.

"I-It's nothing," she said, shaking slightly, but Kumiko knew that something was up, and that pessing Marjorie on wouldn't make her tell about the vision. No, when Marjorie wanted to talk about it, she would and there was no way she would do it any other time.

"So are you in or not?" Seda demanded, and they all focused on Marjorie, holding there breath.

Cecilia~

I looked over at the demon that was now on fire.
"Seda are you sure that will burn the stone with it?" I asked him. I wanted to hear the girl's answer but I didn't want that demon to come back, I was exausted.
Seda looked back, "Yes, it should get it and if it doesn't I'll burn that too." He grinned at me and I nodded. We all looked back at Marjorie, waiting to hear her answer.

[Marjorie Thorne - can see the future]

"T-the premonition," she managed to studder out. "Seda, you were there... it was you and-" Marjorie looked away for a moment, trying to figure out what had been behind them.

Finally, after a long pause, she decided. "I can't let this happen, I have to find what it was. I'm coming with you."

"That's the spirit Marjorie!" she said as Marjorie came over and stood beside them.

"Does anyone else want to join, because if you don't join soon you won't be able to join much longer," Seda said, scanning the crowd for anyone else.

*Is it just me, or did I somehow end up the leader?*

Seda-

"In any case, make your decision and meet at the town gates in two hours." The others left to gather supplies or think on their own. Seda stayed behind and watched the body of his friend burn. He glanced up and saw the sun setting in the west. Looking down at his hand he pulled the glove off and stared at the red rune. "How long will you keep hunting me? Well, we shall see."

Night was dangerous time to travel, but they had to get out of the village before anything else bad happened. Sighing Seda headed back to the inn. He shouldered his pack and cleaned his swords. Seda checked out of the inn and went to wait at the village gates.

Kumiko

She went through the village market, looking for any weapons that might be useful. She searched and weaved through the market. Finally she found a man selling weapons.

She picked up a double edged sword with saphires in the hilt.

"How much for this sword?" she asked.

"Ah, for you 1200 Tyreks," the man said grinning.

She carefully set the sword down as if it would blow up. She couldn't pay that much for one sword!

"Okay, umm... how much for this?" she said, holding up a long sword that could shir into a dagger.

"Only 1200 Tyreks," the man said griinning wider.

She set that down too.

"Okay what about this?" she said, holding up a plain spear.

"That... 1200 Tyreks," the man said, still acting like he was giving her a good deal.

Her eyes flashed purple but she calmed down, thinking of a way to ge a reasonable price. Finally, she resorted to hypnotizing him.

"You will give me this whole cart for the deal of the century! This old cart for 1200 Tyreks!

"I give you this cart... for 1200 Tyreks," the man said sleepily, holding out his hand for the money.

Kumiko dug in her pocket and gave him the money as she wheeled the cart towards the open place where the old building rubble still lay.

"I've got weapons for everybody!" she said, as she waved her saphire hilted sword above her head.

The other demon slayers swarmed to the cart.

[Marjorie Thorne]

Everyone ran over to Kumiko, taking a weapon and testing it's sharpness, all except Marjorie. She stayed back, knowing full well that she had no business holding a sword.

"Come on Marjorie!" called Kumiko.

She sighed and shuffled over. Her eyes gazed over the new weapons, and then she quickly took a few steps back. "We can't use those!" she cried.

"Why not?"

Marjorie took another step back. "Because one of you will be killed by someone wielding one of those. But I can't tell who or what, the vision isn't that clear." she shook her head.

Kumiko

"Are you sure, Marjorie?" she asked as the others stopped whatever they were doing and stared.

Marjorie nodded. "Almost certain, in fact."

"Well, do you have any idea who was killed and who killed them?" Cecilia asked.

"Not yet," Marjorie whispered.

"But if we don't use these weapons, how are we going to kill those demons?" someone asked. Others around him agreed and there were murmured conversations about what to do.

"I don't know, but we can't let whoever was going to kill that person follow through with it by giving them the weapon they were going to kill with!" she protested.

"Why don't we wait until morning to get weapons and see if Marjorie's vision is clearer then?" Kumiko suggested.

As others started to open their mouths to argue, Kumiko's eyes flashed purple and she let out a low, menacing growl. They were silenced immediately.

[Marjorie Thorne]

She shuffled nervously over to the weapons again, looking over each one of them. Marjorie touched the metal of each blade carefully, trying to sense which one was the one that would kill. Out of the corner of her eye she could see people watching her.

"Stop changing..." murmured Marjorie, her hand skipping from sword to sword.

Kumiko suddenly appeared by her side. "Have you found it?"

"No," she whispered sadly. "The blade that kills keeps changing from one to the other. The person, or demon, keeps switching plans to kill one of us. I can't tell who either..."

Dark clouds started to come over the small village. Thunder and lighting booming in the distance. Marjorie set her hands over the weapons and closed her eyes, trying to get a clearer premonition. A wave of pain started to wash over her, another migraine was coming on...

Kumiko

Marjorie closed her eyes, still tracing her hand over the weapons when she suddenly gave a small yelp of pain and clutched her forehead.

"Marjorie!" Kumiko cried rushing to her side as she fell to her knees.

"What did you see?" she asked, seeing Marjorie open her eyes and start to turn pale.

"I-I think I know who the killer is. I at least know what they killed with. And I'm pretty sure I know who's going to die," she said, the last sentence fading into a whisper.

Cecilia~

I had left the market place when people started getting too crazy. I had few belongings to pack and I didn't really need a weapon. I figured if I practiced my hands would be weapon enough. I still took my father's blade with me just in case.
I went to stand by the village gates to find Seda. I slowed my pace. Maybe he wanted to wait in peace.
I turned around and then I heard him say, "You forget something?"
"No, I just though you'd want some peace after what happened today." I smiled at him and stood where I was, waiting to see if he agreed or said I could stay.

Kumiko

"I-I think that Seda was the one to kill the person. With this sword too," Marjorie said, shaking a bit and pointing at a long, elegant sword. "And the person that died. I think it was you," Marjorie whispered, her bottom lip trembling.

Kumiko stood there, dazed. Her? How could she die? And how could Seda betray them and kill her? He was the one to suggest that they go and fight the demon lord. She felt herself sway and willed herself not to faint.

"Are y-you sure," she said, regaining balance and staring at Marjorie. If this was a joke, it wasn't funny and it was getting to be pretty creepy, too. Marjorie looked up at her and solemnly nodded. And then Kumiko finally willed herself to faint, wincing slightly as the ground jumped up to meet her face.

There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.
