Stella-
Ishida's strength failed him as we began up the stairs to his room and he grudgingly took my shoulder again to make it up, before fishing in his pocket for his key and opening the door. He stumbled in and fell into a seat. I looked at him.
"Do you need anything now?"
"I don't require assistance and I don't want company. If you want someone to talk to, I suggest you go back to your friends." I shook my head and he smirked. "Wouldn't be your pride getting in the way now would it?"
I sighed. "I guess I'll go then," I said. "Your shoulder seems to be alright. I'd have a warm bath in case of hypothermia-only make sure you don't fall asleep and-"
"You're not my mother," he said wryly.
"Well then, I guess I'll go," I said. "I'll see you around, I suppose." I turned for the door.
"You mean when we go to the Soul Society?" he said. I whirled round.
"No, I don't, because one: there's no point in me going since I'll be killed in an instant and two: I hardly expect you to go anywhere or do anything for a death god."
"A death god who saved my life," he said, using my words from earlier.
"Actually," I said sourly. "I thought it was Kai who saved you." I shook my head again and turned around.
"Why're you so bitter?" he asked. "When I first met you you didn't seem to be the type who'd be bitter."
"Yeah well, when all your friends have magical powers and you don't and you're no able to do anything to help then if you're not bitter you must be a saint," I said flatly, beginning to walk away.
"Who said you didn't have powers?" he called after me.
I paused at the door handle. "You did," I said. "Or at least, as good as."
Then I left and shut the door behind me. I reached the outside porch of the building before I sank to the floor and began to cry, not only because I was useless, but because I knew that I was burning all my bridges.
