Shifting winds brought the smell of others drifting past my nose. Others like me. I turned my head towards the strongest and closest scent; a fox and a wolf.
How long had it been since I'd met those who shared the same ability as I did? Too long now, I would like to think. Despite the nagging pull in my head warning me that I would soon regret it, I set off in the direction the scent came from, keeping a wary distance of strangers. When I entered the square, filled to the brim with travelers, merchants, beggars, and a whole odd assortment of people, I slipped to the side and into one of the dark alleyways that littered the town. A quick glance over my shoulder told me I had not been followed, or even noticed. Good.
Turning again to face the dark street ahead, I noted, for the first time, the two silhouettes near the end. One was small, standing next to something that looked startlingly like a cage. The other was more human, standing roughly my height, a hood concealing the facial features. But I could tell from the stance that it was female.
The scent of other soul animals was amazingly strong here. Stronger than in the square. Keeping my two ears carefully concealed by my hair, I advanced slowly. They hadn't noticed me yet.
They were the two I had smelled earlier, of that I was sure now. The animal was the fox, the human was the wolf.
The winds picked up, blowing through the alley from the square. My scent was caught up and carried past the two. But on the wind I caught the scent of another soul animal, standing farther back up the alley. I turned my head slightly and caught sight of another human, smelling strongly of panther, watching curiously.
I was trapped.
Be the cartoon heart. Light a fire, light a spark. Light a fire, flame in my heart. We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark.
The hourse traveled as fast as its legs would go untill it tumbled on something in the woods and hazil went flying through the air......

Sam smiled softly. "Ah, well, if you know me it's only right that I know you," she bowed in return.
"Sora. Saora the Fox," the girl replied.
"Ah, okay. You might want to put this on," she handed Sora a black cloak to hide her ears. "It's my back-up just in case anything happens to this one." The blade on her back suddenly shifted and shook angrily. Sam sighed and turned, facing two other humans that were Soul Animals.
"Well, as you all know, I'm Samantha the Wolf. Will. You, introduce yourselves?" She asked, smiling.
