The Faerie Court

Aurora:

I smiled at the Queen. I sighed. a knight came up beside me.

"Aurora, you look dazzling."

I smiled. "Thank you. Just something that was in my closet. You like?" I asked batting my eyes.

He smiled. "I do. Owen's been hogging you lately."

I kept the fake smile in place. "I'm pretty sure that won't happen any longer."

He smiled and bent over my hand. I grinned and we all proceeded with the hunt.

Faede-

The sun was high in the sky when we caught sight of our quarry.

"There she is!" I shouted, and took my bow. I never missed, but the fun was in the chase, so I shot the tree next to her.

The girl looked up, frightened at the sight of the hunt. Our horses whinnied, and behind me came excited cries.

I sat low on my horse, galloping after her. My cloak billowed out in the wind, revealing my bare arms. I still held my bow.

Behind me, Tristan followed. I laughed as the wind blew my hair off my face. The girl was still running, but it would prove useless soon.

"This is what I live for!" I said to him. "How can you not love it?"

We carried on through the woods.

Tristan:

"Because it is my own kind that you are killing. a poor innocent girl. It's inhumane and completely heartless. But, of course, you don't have a heart."

Aurora:

I giggled as I rode beside the knight. soon I was surrounded with admirers. I didn't know why, but apparently all of them wanted me. I joked, and laughed and teased all of them, but I still wanted Owen. I pushed it aside.

Faede-

I rolled my eyes. "Let's not start that again," I said, bringing my horse up next to his. "We're nearly done anyway. The thrill is in the chase, not the kill. I hope you will join us this evening to celebrate."

He didn't answer. Slinging my bow back on my back, I reached a tattooed hand up to his head and rubbed my fingers over his rounded ears.

"We should enjoy those ears of yours while we can. They'll be pointed by the time you leave."

"There she is!" came a cry before he could answer.

The girl had tripped and fallen. She stared up terrified at us, frozen to the spot.

Breathing hard at the prospect of watching her die, I dismounted and took my bow off my back.

She stared up at me, her expression pleading.

"Thank you for the entertainment. You really are a most entertaining creature. Pity, I suppose."

I shot her in the heart.

Tristan:


I hissed under my breath. we all rode back to the castle. People went off to prepare for the banquet. I looked for Lilith but the Queen stopped me. "What are you doing afterwards?"

Aurora:

I headed back to my room and dressed in a short tight low dress. one I had never worn. I heard two voices coming from Owens room. I hated myself, but I just had to see if he was okay. "Will you be able to play for us tonight, minstral? The Queen enjoys your company." I said formally.

Faede-

"I'm going to find my kind," he said. "The ones whose blood you don't have spattered on your arms."

I frowned at him. He seemed disgusted by the prospect. In my court, females wore their arms bare for exactly this reason. I looked at the specks of crimson against my skin. Faeries considered it attractive, it showed power, and strength.

"You don't like it?" I asked.

"You sicken me," he said, and turned to leave.

"You do not turn your back on the Queen," I told him sharply. "Now," I said quietly, reached up to that lovely, rounded ear. "You are to go and wash your face and your hair, and join me tonight for the celebrations. I'm sure Kitty will not begrudge me you after a hunt." I kissed his cheek.

He gave me a disgusted look, but nodded and turned away. I left to change my dress.

"Aurora!" I called. "Do you want to come and do my hair, or visit Owen?"

Aurora:

I heard the queen's call and groaned inwardly. I looked at Owen. "I have a job to do. will you be doing yours tonight, minstral?" I asked stiffly.

Tristan:

I groaned and changed, dressing in a plain white shirt and black pants. Why was the queen so horrid?!

Owen-

"I don't know, maiden. Some idiot shot me today in the woods. Asteria has agreed to assist me this evening."

Asteria nodded and gripped my hand solemnly.

Aurora stared at me.

Why did she have to be so beautiful? It was hard enough as it was, without those eyes boring into me.

Aurora:

I held back tears. "As you wish." I sighed. "i'm sorry Owen. I didn't mean to." I whispered softly. "But broken promises hurt more than a broken harm." I continued, looking down at my feet. I spun around and raced back to the Queen. "Sorry, your majesty. I was checking on Owen. I donzt think he will be playing for us tonight."

Lilith~

Lilith slipped into a regular length, powder blue dress and smiled at Grace, who wore a pink frilly dress with white lace around the collar and cuffs. Lilith smiled and picked Grace up, walking out the door and almost running into someone. "Oops. Sorry," she smiled up at the person, realizing it was Tristan. "Oh! I'm glad you're back!" She smiled, hugging him around the neck.

Tristan:

I growled. "I wish I had never left." I was still furious. I hated the queen with a passion. I was so mad.

Lilith~

Lilith looked at him hard. "What happened?" She asked worridly.

Tristan:

"Apparently I'm a favorite of the queen and am being ordered to appear tonight." I growled. "She kissed me on the cheek and shot down a human. dead. Just like that."

Faede-

I frowned at Owen, who looked genuinely upset, but paid no heed.

"Excellent, you can braid my hair from me. A fresh kill requires new ornaments. I think we'll have blue this evening don't you?" I looked at her own, springing curls. "You never do anything to yours. Why don't you? With your new policy of flirtation, perhaps it would help you make a fresh start. It won't take long. Asteria's the best with beads, but she's busy."

Aurora nodded. I bent over to her. "Are you quite sure you're alright?"

"Spectacular, your majesty," she said, painting a smile on her face.

"Right," I said, increduously. "Maybe we'll tattoo your hands as well soon, you're old enough now. And my knights say they find it very attractive too. Even more so than humans." I looked for Tristan, but couldn't see him. "Come on," I said. "We should hurry if we need to be ready by sundown."

Owen-

I watched Aurora walk away with the Queen's entourage. She didn't look back at me.

"Are you alright Owen?" Asteria asked. "You don't feel faint."

"Of course I do, I feel faint whenever you're close," I said, grinning at her.

Who needed tha stupid redhead anyway?
