The Queen shall begin tonight's revelries...

Faede

The Queen sat on the throne and surveyed the court around her. The dwarf who had appeared earlier was now battling it out with the cat demon amidst the dancers. She watched with mild interest before moving on.

Below the dais, Owen sat with his lute, playing her favourite dance tune. She tapped her long fingers in time with the music. Beside her Aurora was watching him intently.

The throne of the king, which had not been sat in by a king for centuries, was currently occupied by a magpie, and Kitty, who was attempting to grab the thing in her hands, though it kept hopping just out of her reach.

Frowning at the changeling child she turned her head back to the rest of the court, and her eyes settled on a pair of round ears amongst the pointed ones.

She held a hand up, and complete silence spread throughout the room. She smiled, then paused before she announced the presence of a human. She would like to see what they would do next.

Instead, she simply smiled at Owen. "Play us a jig," she said, to cheers.

*Now, you may do what you please, but check l if I've mentioned you here. The human can be either Lillith or Tristan!*

Aurora:

I watched the flute player. I had had a crush on Owen since the queen had taken me in as one of her favorites. I sighed. He was never interested in me, so you would think I would have gotten over it by now. But I hadn't. I still wanted him. But...I knew that he would never noticed me. I was just another girl in the crowd. Another fairy...another one of the queen's humble servants. I sighed and focused my eyes on the dancers, since there was nothing else to look at. Unlike most fairies, I had no intrest in stupid humans.

I sighed again, as Owen became more animated in his playing.

What I wouldn't give if he would just look at me...

Tristan:

He looked around the court in a daze. It was beautifully decorated, and a gorgeous creature sat on the throne. He thought she had noticed him, but he wasn't sure. His stomach growled, but he was afraid the food might be poisoned. Thousands of girls seemed to swarm around him, trying to entice him.

If they are girls. He thought.

They looked odd...more beautiful than humans. ANd they had pointed ears. He had never believed the legends about the queer folk, or fairies as some called them. But now, he wasn't sure.

Maybe there is such things as fairies...He thought as he watched them twirl and dance perfectly.

Owen-

I finished the jig and paused.

"What would you like me to play next your majesty?" he asked.

"Oh," she said. "What shall we have? Play us a love song Owen," she said, her lips curving into a wonderful smile.

I paused. "A traveller taught me a new one two nights ago," I said. "But I require a partner to sing with."

She looked around. "Aurora, your voice is sweet enough. Sing with Owen."

Faede-

If there was one thing I loved more than humans, it was playing matchmaker. Aurora blushed and moved down. I hoped that she would not be too embarrassed. Most of my ladies-in-waiting learnt to be flirtatious from the best of them, but tiny quiet Aurora never took an interest in those lessons.

Aurora:

I blushed. I was good at luring humans because I was gorgeous, but I wasn't used to flirting with people.

"There are far more lovely voices than mine, Mistress. But as you wish." I added hurridly. Sometimes my quick tongue got me in trouble.

I started to sing as Owen played, his music wonderful on my sensitive ears. I could sing farely well, but hardly did it because I was so shy. The only fairy who could make me sing was the queen, and only she because she was like a mother to me, not to mention my Queen. To disobey her could prove deadly. I knew she liked playing matchmaker, but I never thought she would pick me. I was just an insignificant fairy who hardly spoke.

I glanced at Owen. He was so handsome. I longed for him to notice me the way he did all the other fairies. He was a huge flirt, yet he was always a gentleman. Most of the other fairies wanted a human boy toy, I just wanted Owen. I couldn't understand how the other fairies wouldn't want Owen.

I was bright red.

If only...I begged mentally.

*The Queen shall address her...*

Faede-

I smiled at Aurora and Owen below the dais and cast my eyes over the crowds. Nearly every faerie was a romantic, we all stopped to listen. It was a new rendition of an old tale.

I looked around and something new caught my eye.

"Selkie," I called, and the young female looked at me. "I have not seen you in court before. Should I have?"

Owen-

We finished the duet. "Well done," I whispered in Aurora's ear. "You have a good voice."

She blushed. "The Queen's own tutor taught me."

"Did he indeed?" Owen raised his eyebrows. "Then you have learnt well. Do you know any other songs?"

Aurora:

"Yes..." I said shyly. "Do you really think I have a good voice?" I asked, then realized what I said and flushed redder. His hot breath on my ear sent shivers up and down my arms. "You play well." I added, trying to shift the center of attention off of me. "Of course, I'm sure every fairy thinks so." I said bitterly, and hating myself for being that way.

Owen-

I grinned. "It's the lute. It's enchanted?"

"Really?" she asked.

"No," I answered. "Just sound more modest if I say that."

She laughed and bowed her head. She had a glorious head of hair, her hair coiled wildly, so much more than any other faerie maiden.

"Come on," I said. "We'll give them another one, they're getting restless."

"I should get back to Her Majesty," she said.

"No," I said. "Look, Selia is tending to her. She can wait." I said, smiling. "Sing with me!"

I struck up a reel and the whole court smiled and moved to the music.

Aurora:

I blushed and started to sing. I looked at him, and he smiled. I blushed...again.

Why do I act this way? I sighed.

We finished, and the court started talking.

"Do I really sing well?"

"Yes, you do." he answered.

I stared into his eyes. They were so enchanting. I couldn't take mine off of his, which made me blush more.

The energetic little girl walked over to Galeis." Hello Galeis. I haven't seen you all day." Kitty greeted.

Kitty wore her special event gowned.( http://saartje.deviantart.com/art/Belle ... t-22995727 the second one)

Galeis smiled." I'm sorry Kitty. I had much to do today."

"Owen," I said. "I haven't talked to you all night, come sit by me."

I winked at Aurora as he stepped up onto the dais. He raised my hand to his lips.

"Your majesty," he said. "You look positively radiant tonight, at first I mistook you for the moon."

It was an old, overused line, and yet I smiled at him. "More radiant than all the lovely maidens here?"

"Oh your majesty, they cannot compare."

"Owen, you are far too flattering for your own good, half of the faeries here are in love with you and the other half are male, and half of those are still besotted. Away with you!"

"Ah, but your majesty, I will not leave the company tonight, for I have found a most favourable singing companion."

I smiled. True, he may say it about any girl worth looking at, but it would mean so much more to Aurora.

"So would you have my maiden sing by your side every night?"

"True, I would have her by my side every moment of every day but failing that, I should be happy to have her by my side to sing."

"Even while you flirt with everybody else?"

He grinned. "Even then."

"Very well, Aurora," I smiled at her. I did not have any children of my own, and though she was too old to be my daughter, I felt she was the closest I had. "I can spare you for the rest of the evening. Sing us a song, both of you, and if I am pleased, then perhaps you will sing together every night."

Aurora blushed the same colour as her hair and I grinned as Owen bowed and returned to his cushion with her.

I sipped my drink. The humans in the crowd still had not been noticed. I frowned. There were two of them now. What to do with them?

*whew, that was long, but I like being Queen!*
