Just as she was about to reply, she glanced up and spotted a very handsome young man as he slowly descended down the stairs. Glancing around, he noticed her standing there, gazing up at him almost appalled at his appearance.
Then, like an unannounced presence, their stare was broken apart as the announcer called out, “Introducing Count Earl Clyvdon. Son of Viscountess Clyvdon.”
Tathilia felt a slight presence on her arm and glanced down. Count Adam had laid his hand on her arm as if to lay claim on her.
“Lady Tathilia? Are you alright?” He asked.
“Quite dandy.” She replied halfheartedly, not taking her eyes off Count Clyvdon.
“You seem a bit….umm well you seem a bit distracted.” He breathed.
“I do? Well I suppose. Now if you’ll excuse me, I would like to visit the retiring rooms.” She announced, waiting for his reply.
“That is most definitely fine by me.” He sighed, a bit disappointed. As she walked away, she could feel the eyes of two particular men on her.
What am I going to do? She asked herself. Caught between two very charming young men, and cute ones at that! She sighed as she closed her eyes, then opened them again to find Count Clyvdon standing in front of her, holding out his hand, a smile on his handsome face.
She gasped in surprise.
“May I have this dance?” He asked still smiling.
“Why, I’d be delighted!” She exclaimed as she extended her hand.
Adam frowned when he saw teh other count ask her to dance. He leaned on the wall his arms crossed a frown on his face. He wasn't about to lose her that easy. He watched them dance jealisy running through him like crazy. He wanted to step in but knew that would be rude.
When the dance had ended, Tathilia let out a sigh, amazed by his expertise in dancing.
"You really are a very good dancer you know." She declared.
"Well, I tried." He replied, a smile playing at his lips. She just wanted to kiss him, but that would mean that he would have to marry her. God she didn't want that! at least not yet.
Oh god! She thought abruptly. I forgot about Adam! She realized he had been watching the whole time.
"I am most dearly sorry but I must go." She told the count.
"But why?" He asked, sorrow in his eyes. It hurt to see him in pain she realized.
"I cannot explain. I must go though." She replied, and scurried off to find her carriage before he had time to reply.
*sorry about that tN just had to put a twist in it.*
****It's fine, I just don't know what to do now.*****
Adam--
Adam watched her leave, he quickly walked after her. He saw her get in her carriage and he quickly caught the door to it before the servant could close it. He leaned against the side and looked at her.
"Why are you leaving so soon?" He asked gently looking at her beautiful face and almost losing himself to her eyes.
Tathilia looked down at Adams hansome face and wished she could just shut the door Who do I chose? She desperatly asked herself.
"Erm, I need to get home is all." She replied half heartly.
"Please don't go." He exclaimed, gently catching her hand as if to make her stay.
"I'm sorry, I just need to be alone." She replied, and gently removed her hand from his, placing it on her lap. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to be somewhere." She said curtly, wanting instintly to take it back from the look that passed over his face. Hestitating, he stepped back and allowed her to go.
As she left, she hoped he didn't see the tear as it rolleed down her cheek.
