Colt nodded and wrapped his arm around pulling her close. He looked down at Trinity as she slept soundlessly. She started to toss and turn again and Inez reached out to touch her. Hopey growled and jumped forward. Colt grabbed him right before he could bite Inez.
"NO!" Colt growled, Hopey cowared whimpering softly. He set the pup down and it ran back to Trinity's side.
"Thanks," I said as I tended to Trinity, "We need more cool water, maybe we should move her closer to the stream, she doesn't have to drink the water, we just need to keep her cool."
Colt lifted up Trinity and the protesting Hopey and walked towards the stream. "I'll throw togther a lean-to over here where you can lift a flap in the floor to get to the stream." He said softly looking at Inez.
I nodded, "We'll just splash little bits on her arms and legs now and put a wet cloth on her forehead." I looked at the puppy, "he really loves that girl."
Colt helped her try and cool Trinity off then started making a lean-to over the stream. He made a flap that went to the stream then picked Trinity up and put her in it. "This should also keep this lean-to kinda cold, if you leave the flap open the cool air should come in." He said looking at Inez.
Colt felt his shoulders sag in relief. "That is probably the best news I've heard today." He sighed smiling tiredly. "I don't know what I would do if I lose either of you."
Colt looked down at Hopey. "Want to go for a walk boy?" He smiled at the pup. It growled. "Guess that's a no." He stood up and pulled Inez with him. "I'll see you in a bit." He smiled kissing her softly.
Colt laughed softly. "I'll be back." he stepped from the lean-to and walked into the woods carring the biggest stick he could find. He looked around. He would have to make a weapon of some sort, but he wasn't going to use his working tools so they wouldn't get messed up.
He spotted a heard of deer and ran a hand through his hair looking for a way to get to them so he could try and kill one. He knew it would be harder then he thought. When Hopey got bigger he would be able to catch a deer easily. But they still had to eat.
He slowly snuck down the heel going as quite as he could. He picked up a huge rock, took a deep breath, and hurled it at one of the door, missing by a centimeter, but managing to get them running. He growled and jumped from wehre he was standing running after the deer. THe stopped suddenly and turned back towards where he was making a dash for him. Whatever had scared them they thought was worse then he was. He managed to knock two out and keep from getting run over. As he was lifting the first one onto his shoulder he saw the big wolf step out of the woods. It's front paw was hurt.
"Listen, bud, I'll let you have this other deer if you don't mess with me." He yelled, it was doubtful the wolf knew what he was saying, but it was a shot. He left the deer and started back towards teh camp keepign his ears open for any sound of a preditor.
