Colt never wanted to sleep, he just wanted to lay here by Inez for forever. To have her near forever. He sighed, "I love you." He whispered softly pulling her closer.
"Good, cause it's the truth." He smiled at her kissing her again. He loved having her so close. Knowing that she felt the same way about him and that they had their own little paradise out of hardship here on the island, if it was even that. He figured it was though. Surely they would've seen someone by now if it wasn't.
Colt felt Inez fall asleep and he soon joined her to dream about making this paradise better. He was woken by a blood curling scream. He jumped up and looked around. Inez was still laying by him. The scream sounded again and he ran towards Trinity's lean-to. She was laying there tossing back and forth screaming with her eyes shut. Hopey was barking and trying to lick her face confussed on what was going on.
"Trinity, wake up, it's just a dream." He said touching the little girl's shoulder. She screamed again and Hopey growled at him. He ignored the dog and felt Trinity's forehead. She was burning up. Colt grabbed Hopey by the scruff of the neck when he tried to jump and bite Colt. "Stop it, I'm not gonna hurt her you fool pup." He growled at the wolf. He laid it down next to Trinity and then looked up at the door way to see Inez.
Colt nodded, "Be careful of Hopey, he thinks we're hurting her." He said getting up and running to where their water supply was. He moved it to Trinity's room. "I'll boil more water and get it cooled down." He said, "Anythign else I can do?"
Colt sat down and looked at Trinity. He slowly started telling the only fairy tell he could really remember, beauty and the beast. He streched it out as long as he could. Hopey growled a few times as she rolled around, but by the middle of the story she relaxed and stayed still Hopey curled up next to her licking her hand.
"It worked." He whispered when the story was over.
I smiled, "thats one thing I know about kids, they all love fairy tales." I used my own pulse as a measure for her blood pressure, which was higher than normal. "Her blood pressure's too high."
"And that means?"
"She either has malaria or infulenza."
"Which is worse?"
"Malaria."
"Lets hope she has infulenza."
"We'll know in the morning." I goaned looking down at the helpless little girl, "this is going to be a long night."
I didn't want to say it, but I knew I had to, "she'd probably die." I could hear the sadness in my voice and feel the tears clouding my vision. "Unless we had better medical help, she may die if it was infulenza as well. But the chances of that are less likely, the flu shot was probably given last year, she'd have a good ammunity to it, but not perfect."
"I pray to God its the flu."
"Me too, I don't know what I would do without that little girl."
something I have been thinking about ever since I saw the Super Mario Bros movie is how once I took a "what Nintendo character are you" quiz and I got Waluigi. — Elinor
