"So... what do you talk about?" The irritating child asked. I ignored her and took a book from the shelf, completely at random and pretended to be immensed in it. She blinked, sighed and then wandered away. I felt almost guilty but I didn't react well to company, especially not the high pitched, enthusiastic kind.
I passed half an hour or so in the library, collecting books for my private study and then headed back out into the corridoor.
"A run in with someone?" The pretty, dark haired girl raised an eyebrow and laughed softly, pleasantly. Or at least the brown haired kid seemed to find it pleasant.
"Yeah, a female someone," the boy replied. I was walking right behind them now and had to slow my pace so that I didn't bump into them. The notion of slipping past crossed my mind fleetingly but I decided I could put up with their chatter until we reached the lunch hall.
"He doesn't have a girlfriend then..." the girl looked as though there was a different question she wished to ask, her blue eyes drinking in his face. Romance. Urgh. Typical witch.
"Not at the moment."
