I looked at the clock, which read 12:32. "Listen Beth. I have got to go. Get to the lunchroom as soon as you can." I told her, grabbed my Protectors uniform and ran out the door. I ran to the showers, took a quick one, changed and ran towards the front office. I burst through the door and tumbled into the others.

"Sorry I'm late." I laughed. They all three just looked at me with annoyed eyes. I smiled and grabbed the microphone.

"Will all high school students report to the gym. I repeat will all high school students report to the gym." I said into the mic before taking off towards the gym.

I walked in and looked around. Empty. Except for Tatu, of course. I thought as the other Protectors walked in. I walked up to the front and grabbed a microphone. Then, I sat down and waited for the whole high school to start pileing in.

(Everyone should start their way towards the gym, except Riley of course.)

Something was pulling me towards the gym. Why? I had no clue.

I let my mind slip away, taking my sights into the future. There was a congregation...a speaker...an announcement. But the words were lost until that moment.

Still...I had to be there.

So I stood and jogged off in the direction of the gym.

Beth:

I watched her rush out of the room. I followed after, shocked. Then I froze, my mind whirling. For some reason, I could connect with people I was intune to. I saw Riley, holding another girl. I gritted my teeth. Traitor! Fine, if that's the way he wanted it, then that's the way it would be. I smiled. I was going to enjoy being apart of this school now. My mind went back over the new spells I had learned as I rushed as fast as i could back to the cafeteria.

Damn! That announcement came just when I was about to start eating. As I got up to go to the gym, where ever that is I'll just follow everyone else, I grab my burger and run through the doors.

She had been outside in the courtyard, which was obviously her favorite place, when she overheard the announcement. "yeah yeah, I'll go to the gym." She sluggishly got up, but quickly ran to where Ryouku was having his martial arts class.

"Come on, Ry!" She grabbed him by his arm and pulled him out of the building, towards the gym.

"Alright, alright, what's your hurry?" He asked as they slowed to a quick walk.

"I dunno." She shrugged it off and tugged him into the gym, sitting on one of the bottom bleachers.

(Poor Riley.. he is such a traitor.. but he is really fun to write as hehe.. um i just spell it Vampyre cause that is like the original spelling I believe.. u can spell it however.. it's all good in the hood. =])

[Riley]

Riely sat with his feet on the coffe table that had a thin layer of dust on the glass. This whole place was a dust pit though. He reached up and tucked a stray strand of hair behind Anelle's ear. He hoped she would tell Beth how good they were getting along. In detail. He was really trying not to think about Beth, not to feel her. She was the one that had cheated on him five minutes after he kissed her. They hadn't been technically a "thing" yet, but it still hurt. There were other members of the family lounging around the great room all in a never ending wait for nothing. But just because there was no purpose to it all doesn't mean you can't ahve fun. And Riley was going to have fun, a lot of fun. Especially with this new game he had started with Anelle. He was going to have to be very careful. His instructions were very specific. He had to make her believe he was hopelessly devoted to her and whenever she asked questions about the plans he would give her false information. All the others in the family would be given the false information too, so there would be no mistakes. But they would all understand it was false and eventually be told the real plan. By then Anelle would be gone. She stood and walked to the bar and Riley followed her, making sure they were touching the whole way until she sat. Then he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his forehead on her shoulder. Then Sean was invading his mind.
"Get a room." He said.
"Shut up! I am trying to work here can't you see? And you are distracting me!"
"The others all know she is a traitor. You are lucky they havn't killed her yet."
"They all know!?"
"Yes."
"Well the time will come when they can have their fun. Now leave me alone."
"Fine but if you are going to touch it then at least go some where else, my gag reflexes can't hold out much longer."
"Haha you are so hilarious. Not. Get out of my head!"
"Fine, fine. Just go some where else!" Then Sean was gone. Riley popped his head up from her shoulder.
"Something wrong?" She asked unblinking.
"No. Come on." He was suddenly very concious of what he did and could feel everyone's eyes on him. He led Anelle into a deserted room and threw Sean an annoyed look before closing the door.
"Hey there sparky, I already told you. You-"
"I know I know I am not getting any!" He laughed.
"So why are we in here?"
"I dunno, I just..."
"You just what?"
"I just don't want to be out there anymore. Could you, I mean.. if you don't want to stay in here with me just go." He fell gracefully onto the bed and closed his eyes. He didn't hear the door open but she didn't follow his lead and lay down on the bed. He slightly opened one eye then saw her standing by the window. She opened the curtains then jumped over him onto the bed to avoid the sunlight. He pulled his eye lid back shut.
"I do want to stay with you." She said resting her head on his chest. He turned and looked at the sunlight pouring in through the window and onto the carpet. They were still lieing in darkness.
"What did you do that for?" He asked motioning to the curtains.
"Sometimes I miss it."
"What?"
"The sunlight." She played with a little string coming off of his sweater absentmindedly.
"Oh, I see." He said. They laued there for a few minutes in silence. Not even breathing, mostly because they don't need to breathe. It comes in handy.
"So what are the big plans?" She asked turning her head to look into his eyes which were still closed. He had been watiing for this.
"Oh, were are planning a night time attack, naturally. It will be a few weeks before we attack though. We need time to assemble our forces. But then we are going to suck them dry while they are sleeping." He laughed a little. Awed at the thought. She turned and pushed herself up onto her forearms, facing him. He ran his fingers through her hair, careful not to catch one of the braids. He was trying in every way possible to make her believe that he was sickeningly in love with her. She seemed to be buying it too, because she leaned in and kissed him. He kissed her back, a lot. What was the point of all of this secret spy stuff if he couldn't have fun with it. He had her pinned under him within five minutes. He wasn't going to do anything, it was obvious she would have none of that. While he kissed her neck he crept into her mind secretivly to see her thoughts. She was thinking about the school. She was going to go tell them tonight. She wasn't going to mention the kissing to Beth, even though she kind of wanted to. Shame. He left her mind and concentrated on the kissing again. Why had he decided to leave all of this? He couldn't remember now.
All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you something great will come of it.

Tama~

I motioned for Tatu to come to me. She stood and walked towards me.

"Tell Anelle to meet us right outside of the town. Tell her not to get in to deep with Riley and to make sure nobody is following her." I told her strictly. Tatu nodded and walked out of the building.

Tatu~

"Anelle." She thought.

"What is it Tatu?" Anelle thought back.

"Meet us all tonight right outside of town. Don't get in to deep with Riley. And, make sure that nobody if following. Demanded straight from Tama. We will have new people joining us. You'll meet them when you get here. One of them is Beth so be ready for trouble. Also, Tama is suspicious that the information you gave us last time was false. Make sure it's not this time." Tatu relayed the message perfectly.

"Got it...bye." Tatu grimaced once she noticed that Riley was in Anelle's mind.

"Bye."

(Riley is a traitor! If he would talk to Beth, she would explain. XD But I can see how that would still be a fun character.)

Beth:

I grimaced. Anelle, that new girl helping us, beautiful blond hair, was laying next to Riley. I hated it! I even hated to admit that I was jealous...but I was! The only person I had ever loved in the arms of someone else! I fummed. But I would have to put my prejudice behind because she was on our side, no matter how much I hated it. We were meeting tonight. I couldn't wait, and yet it made me anxious for some reason. I was scared. What if she really did like him? I frowned then sighed. It was none of my buisness. He was allowed to do whatever he liked. He probably never liked me in the first place. I'm sure he can't wait to see me dead. That was fine. There was no way I had the power to kill him...so I suppose he would just have to kill me...

"Come on, Ry!" Ryouku turned to see Rosso approaching. The lesson was almost finished anyway, so he decided to end the class for the day.

"Hold on," Ryouku said as Rosso stopped to stand beside him. He was teaching his karate class in the football field today. He turned to his students and said, "Tski!" They all stood at attention, feet together and hands at their sides. "Rei!" They all bowed, making sure that they were bowing lower than Ryouku to show their respect. "Domo arigatou." All his students echoed him before scampering away to get ready for their classes after lunch.

When most of the students were gone, Rosso grabbed Ryouku by the arm and started tugging him toward the gym. "Alright, alright, what's your hurry?" He asked as they slowed to a quick walk.

"I dunno." She shrugged it off and tugged him into the gym, sitting on one of the bottom bleachers. Ryouku had heard the announcement, but he didn't expect to see so many students to actually show up. Was this meeting about the incident in the pub last night?

I saw Tatu walk in and sit down. Darek punched me in the arm as a warning to talk now. I nodded and turned my attention to the students.

"As you all know we are the town's Protectors. They're only five of us and we need more," I started. Claps and whooping began.

"Yes. As you also know, I,Tama, am the leader," I smiled.

"We have already chosen the new members." Everyone was quiet after that.

"I will announce them now. When and if I call your name, come up and get your Protector uniform and badge." All silence.

"Tatu." I smiled. Tatu walked up, already wearing her badge and uniform, and stood beside me.

"Ryouku, of course," I said. Ryouku walked up, grabbed his badge and uniform, and stood next to Duke.

"Rosso." Rosso walked up and did the same, standing beside Ryouku.

"Mana." Mana did also.

"Liaria." Liaria walked up, grabbed her stuff, and stood beside Mana.

"Bethany." I smiled and sighed. No Beth? "Bethany?" I called again, confused. Why isn't she coming? "Beth?"

Beth was missing. Why?

I thought about the girl for a moment, wondering where she was, and I felt my mind slip. I was mentally seeking her out...

I saw her thoughts.

Riley. Anelle.

Anger. Sadness. Jealousy.

Such confusion!

I sighed turned my attention towards Tama. Beth is upset at the moment. Something to do with Riley. I whispered into the girl's mind, hoping she would understand what I didn't.

Beth:

I was late. I knew I was. "Sorry." I interrupted as I came in. I didn't really have an explanation, and I really didn't want to give one. Tama glared at me. I smiled, fakely. I couldn't feel. I didn't let myself feel. It hurt too much. "Am I late?" I was always sarcastic when I was upset. I couldn't help it, it made everything better somehow.

All the students were astonished. This was a big honor, and I knew it. Problem was, I really didn't care. I mean, sure, I wanted everyone to be safe, but I had lost even the ability to be compassionate. Automatic senses were on full alert...and I had never felt so alive. I had not allowed myself to be like this sense my creation. It was dangerous, working off your senses. You tend to do stupid things...just because you feel like you should. But I didn't care. I laughed. Everyone glared. I smiled, they frowned. So, I choose to be civilize.

I walked slowly up to her and took the uniform. "If you don't mind..." I said slowly, "I'd prefer not to wear the uniform. Don't you realize that I'm the first person Riley will want to kill? If I'm with you...or if anyone is wearing these uniforms, we will be prime targets. If we blend in, we'll have more of a chance to defeat the enemy." I smiled. "You don't think I'm stupid do you?" I looked around at the shock and envy that a lot of the guys were feeling. With my senses being sharper, the magician side of me could sense what everyone was feeling. "So...is that everyone?" I asked out of curiosity, ready to be rid of all the junior jerks. Most of the girls were useless as well. But, of course, at the moment none of it bothered me. "Can we get on with it?" Impatient now.

I knew I could see through her disguise. As could everyone else. I sighed, entering her mind as softly as I could.

It's me, Liaria. If you want, we could talk later. And yes, I know what's going on. I read your thoughts earlier. Forgive me for the intrusion...

And I left her mind. I relished the shock in her eyes, but it was short lived. I turned towards Tama.

"Beth has a good argument. Our opponents won't know if we're Protectors or not, if we blend in. It has the element of surprise," I seconded Beth's statement, trying to relieve the pressure. "Besides, I will more than likely be transforming a lot if we're to go to battle; I would just mess up this uniform."

God, hopefully the auras would lessen and everyone would relax.

Ok, I had absolutly no clue what was going on, I mean I just got to this school. But it seemed like we were going to be fighting vampyres, which was fine with me. Except for one thing.

"Right I know this is probably a great honor and everything, but I just got here so I don't really know what the Protectors are. And if we're going to be fighting then I'd liketo make a pact with at least one other spirit before we start."

Great, I probably just put my head on the chopping block, but if we were fghting vampyres I'd need power. There is no way I'm going out like the rest of my tribe did. One mistake two millenia ago cost them their lives.

Beth:

Shock registered in me. I squelched it. Shock was a feeling. I didn't want to feel...anything. At all!

"Thank you, Li." I responded calmly, both to her statement in my head and the help she had offered. "What do you think, Tama? I mean, honestly, I highly doubt Riley-" I cringed, "is stupid. I'm sure he knows we're after them. How long will it take for him to figure out who can truly fight and who is just a libility? He probably already knows most of us...the only way to sneak up on a vampire is to attack with surprise. I should know." I smiled. "Besides, it's not like you can kill one easily. It actually takes skill to kill one...there's a reason why they live so long. Most people aren't...stupid enough to take them on. So...if we do this, I suggest we try surprise first. If that doesn't work, then fine. But trust me when I say that he's probably not giving away information for free..." I was careful to say "his" name. I didn't like the emotions it brought to me. In fact, I forced myself to use magic to cut off all emotions. Immediately I stopped feeling. I smiled. "Of course, if you still insist on the...uniforms-" said in disgust, "then I will refuse to wear mine, naturally." I smiled. I knew I was undermining authority, not to mention a friend. But at the moment I couldn't feel, so it didn't matter. I smiled again, innocently, serenly. Of course, none of it was real. The serenity, the peace was fake.

At that moment shock radiated through my body, and I gasped. That lying backstabber was enjoying herself! She was...in love with Riley. Not good.

"I think we have a problem." I stated as calmly as I possibly could.
