I watched as the man walked away. There goes my meal. She smelled good, too. I could still smell her, going down the street. As my stomach growled, an idea formed into my head.
"Cat," I thought, "Cat. Oh please let me turn into a cat!" I closed my eyes, and felt the transformation begin. "Cat," I thought, imagining myself turning into a furry black cat with hazel eyes. When I opened my eyes I didn't have a tail, because I wasn't a cat. I was a pigeon. Oh well, it works.
I flew over buildings, the smell of the man and the woman getting closer and closer.
**Oops, missed a LOT! Sorry, I'm here to post now, however.**
Bella~
I had watched the group of strange "people" talk for a long time, and watched the other stalk of irritably after a while. I could see that she was terribly hurt, but was sure she could handle it. I had other concerns.
I had come here only because of the "scholar". He had no idea that I existed, as far as I was aware of. I had been following him for about 1000 earth years, but as many different forms. The only way he would've known that they were all me was if he could read my aura, or my mind, both of which were possible. It didn't matter, however. What did matter was that I was finally going to speak to him, face to face.
He was sitting in the center of the clearing as I walked in, from the opposite side of where he had entered. A few of the others looked at me, most of them in strange forms...quite a few of them cats. I ignored them, walking straight up until I was no more than a few inches from Nic. Then, I calmly sat down cross-legged in front of him, hoping my skirt wasn't showing too much as I did so. I loved my wardrobe, so old fashioned, but it had it's downsides. Of course, there was always the off chance that, being a "man", Nic wouldn't mind at all. I smirked inwardly.
"Hello," I said sweetly, hoping my voice sounded as velvety as it normally did.
How much weirder could this day get? I had been traveling for nearly a year with barely any contact with anyone, and now today i was surrounded by who knows how many strange creatures, one of which had walked up and sat down right in front of me.
"Can i...help you?" i asked. "Or did you just randomly decide to sit down in front of me."

"Don't mess up these woods to much, that girl wasn't healthy, so I have to go help her. Watch out for the Cats. He jumped off of her shoulder and grew to his normal size. He was one of the biggest dragons she had seen. She jumped on his back and he shot up into the air. They found the girl and Crest landed shrinking back down to normal size. 'She needs a doctor, lets get her there.' Kimmy slowly walked towards the girl. Her tiger growled,
"It's alright, I'm just gonna help." She said gently.
That answered my worries. The Djinni couldn't read auras, nor minds, or he would have known my secret before I'd even entered the clearing.
"It could be randomly," I replied mysteriously, hoping he wasn't just teasing with me. I wasn't horrible enough to intrude on his private thoughts, so I really didn't know. "Or you cuold know me, Nic." I smirked mysteriously. "I'm Bella, by the way."
"Hi, Bella. Apparently you already know me, so i wont bother with introductions."
She shrugged as though she didnt care. She only stared at me expectantly yet mysteriously, as though waiting for me to figure something out.
"Ah...so...can i help you?"
She shrugged again.
"Look," i said, getting slightly annoyed. "It's not as if i can read your mind! Can i help you, or are you just going to keep sitting there and shrugging!?"

"So you can't...I was curious about that. I always thought Djinni would be able to read minds...or auras...or something like that." I watched as Nic became frustrated, then curious. He was wondering how much I knew about him, it was obvious from his face.
"Don't be irritated with me, please. I didn't do anything wrong...did I?" I cringed when he snapped at me...I hated when others were mad at me.
I sighed. "No, i suppose you didn't do anything wrong. But no, we Djinni cannot read minds or 'auras', as you call them. But we can see on planes, as WE call them. Humans are the same on all planes, as are most earthy creatures. Elves, dryads, dragons, werecats, and most other creatures all look the same. But Vampires look slightly different on the higher planes and other Djinni and creatures not of this world all look different entirely. I am not a scholar on all planes, only the lower three. Those are the planes on which humans can look upon. I have the gift of seven planes of sight."
She stared at me curiously. "What do you look like on the other planes?"
"Ah, now theres the age old question. Djinni never reveal what they look like except to other Djinni."

I examined her on the upper planes and saw something that startled me.
"You're human, but not human. You are a spirit of a mage. How is it you came to roam this world again?" I asked curiously, completely forgetting about the others still standing around.

I sighed, not expecting this question to be brought up. I hadn't described my past in...a very long time ,to say the least. I took a deep breath, looking Nic straight in the eyes.
"I was about 24 at the time, and madly in love with James. James and I had known each other since we were small children, and he swore he would do anything for me..." I sighed, remembering him so well that I could even smell him. "He didn't approve of it, so whenever I was alone I'd dabble in some darker forms of magic. I wanted to summon a Djinni." Nic raised his eyebrows at this, but I ignored it, focusing on staying calm while I spoke. It wasn't easy discussing my own death.
"I had made all the preparations weeks before hand. My candles had been hidden, along with the salt, so I could make a protective ring. Everything was set. But I said hte incantation wrong..." I shuddered, and felt Nic's hand on mine. I closed my eyes, forcing myself to continue.
"The Djinni was too strong for me to take on my own, and left me fatally wounded. By the time James found me, I had been dead for a short amount of time. He used my candles, and created a new charm circle, summoning the Spirit of the Dead. He sacrificed himself to save me...
"When i woke up, right next to where everyhting had happened, I was left with only this scar," I pulled my cloak away, revealing the scar that wound around my neck, caused my the Djinni's near beheading. When I opened my eyes, the tears flowed freely and uncontrollably. "James lay beside me...dead."

I was 6 feet in heigth but has no problem crouching down behind the bushes to watch the strangest gathering of magical creatures i had ever seen. For the most part i didnt car about the any of them, but there was a djinni in the group. He could be my parent's killer. He was talking to a girl she looked pretty upset. She started crying, was he going to kill her? Surely not with all these other creatures around. I drew my bow and arrow and took aim as i let myself be seen by the others. They looked up at me curiously.
"You are a human." said the djinni, well duh i thought to myself.
"Don't you hurt her or i will kill you."
All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you something great will come of it.
I assumed a hurt expression. "You see, that's the problem with you mortals; you are always assuming."
I sighed deeply and stood, scanning my mind for the most pitiful looking creature i could think of. I finally assumed the form of a large-eyed cocker spaniel with huge floppy ears.
"I wasn't going to hurt her, you have no fear of that. She was simply explaining her story to me. But," i sighed again. "If you fear me then i will leave. I see i am not wanted here."
I turned and began trotting off, pretending to trip over my ears for added effect. I waited for one of them, probably the girl, Bella, to call after me.
