Felicia

I scanned the thick crowd, trying to find a familiar face and discern the muggles from our lot. But it was so packed at Kings Cross, the only thing my eyes could comprehend were blurred imprints of about a million people. I gave up on that and focused on the numbers above the platforms: 7, 8, 9… Well there it was. From my position, the wall looked very solid. I looked down at my trolley, focusing on the trunk that I knew hid my cloak and spellbooks. If I stared hard enough, I could just imagine them under there, so I knew this was real.

I stopped just in front of the barrier, glancing back to make sure my Mum and Dad were still behind me. They were, and Jared was right next to them, probably pelting them with questions. First years…

I fixed my eyes on the brick wall in front of me, telling myself that it wasn’t as solid as it looked, and glanced around for muggles. They were everywhere, as always. With a deep breath I walked straight toward the barrier and found myself, a moment later, on platform 9 ¾.

The scarlet engine towered before me, welcoming me back. I smiled at it and boarded, searching among the compartments for some of my friends. The hallways were crowded with excited students, stopping to hug each other or exclaiming their excitement at seeing each other again. I picked my way through the crowd, searching…

I ended up sitting with Korren Bortache’, a fourth year in my house. He nodded a greeting. I had barely sat down across from him and was just opening my mouth to say hi when Jared’s head appeared in the compartment.

"Heya!" Jared said, and nodded towards Korren Bortache’, who he didn't know. Felicia rolled her eyes at her obnoxious brother.

Jared flung himself in a seat next to his sister and looked at the fourth year. Korren looked outside of the window, watching more people pass by the train, and hop into it.

"So," Jared said, " guess what? I got a wand!"

Felicia rolled her eyes again and said, "Yes, Jared, we all know that. Just calm down, all right?" Jared smiled falsely and showed his wide smile to Korren. He glanced back up at his sister, and laughed.

Jared quickly looked up to Felicia, but she had a smile on her face also. It appeared that they had made some kind of a joke behind his back. Hmph...

Jared knew that he was going to be a great wizard. He just had to be. After memorizing every spell in the Grade One book of spells, Jared was set.

And so began his trip to Hogwarts.

Karsh stretched out lazily across the woven tapestry of the cushioned seats. He listened to the familiar hum of the ancient train engine tug the train along its set tracks. He was alone in his compartment, suprisingly, letting his mind wander with little trivial things such as what he will eat first at the feast to who will be the new beater on the quidditch team.

The compartment door suddenly slid open, jolting Karsh out of his dreamy state. He tried not to show his surpise by casually opening one eye to see who was now entering. Adrianne perdrue, her cherry blonde hair bobbing slightly as she plopped down on the chair across from him, gave him a small smile.

"Mind if I sit here?"

Karsh grinned. "Of course not Adri. You set for this year's quidditch games?"

She brushed the hair from her blue eyes, and gave him her infamous mischevious look. "You know it."

Korren Bortache’

Korren glanced around King’s Cross station and chuckled a bit, remembering the first time he was here. He had never needed to visit the station before his time at Hogwarts. When he learned he was supposed to be charging full speed at a brick wall with his baggage, he was less than anxious to do so. By now his fear of the wall was an echo of old making itself known, and then being snuffed out by experience. Shaking his head, Korren ran through the barrier.

He forced his way through the crowd of people who seemed to assume that their business was far more important than those who they had shoved over and boarded the train. He found an abandoned compartment and put his luggage up. Looking around and stretching, he sat down. He stared out the window and let his mind wander…

It wasn’t long before his door opened and Felicia walked in. Tearing his eyes from a fascinating spec on the window, he greeted the third year with a nod. Oh good, someone to talk to, he thought. She opened her mouth to say something as she was sitting down when a younger person popped his head into the compartment.

“Heya!” said the younger unknown being, then looked over at Korren and gave a small nod in his direction. Korren nodded back at him, but he wasn’t paying any attention. Korren saw Felicia roll her eyes in annoyance. Korren turned his attention back to the spec. This guy’s probably a first year… or a short second year who I managed to miss throughout the entire last year. Yeah, that’s gotta be it…

“So,” The still unknown younger being said in excitement, “guess what? I got a wand!”

Yup, definitely a first year… Korren thought, glancing back at the other two.

Felicia rolled her eyes again and said, "Yes, Jared, we all know that. Just calm down, all right?" The younger one, Jared apparently, smiled at Felicia, then Korren. When Jared wasn’t looking Korren caught Felicia’s eye, crossed his eyes, and put on a stupid smile.

Jared quickly looked up to Felicia and seemed to be slightly concerned by the smile on her face. Korren chuckled inaudibly and looked back out the window.

Come on Chris you can do it thought Chris to himself.
Chris's last to attempts to get through the barrier over the years weren't a successful as he hoped. in fact in his first year tripped just before the barrier and in his second year he missed it altogether.
But Chris was determined to get it this year, he closed his eyes and pushed his trolley forwards. When he opened his eyes he saw a scarlet train in front of him. YES! Chris yelled in his mind.

Chris then found his way onto the train that would take him to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and sat in the last compartment where he found Felicia, Korren and some other person he had never seen before. The stranger was showing the unfortunate people in the carriage his wand and telling them about how he already new all the spells in his text book already. Chris nodded to Korren and Felicia and sat down

Jeez all I get are nodds? haha oh well.

oops! we have three gryffindor beaters! YoungWriterGeek, since Chris was last, I'm going to have to ask you to be a chaser. Sorry, but we can't have 3 beaters! sorry everyone.

Here we go again. Another long year at my home away from home.

I turned so that my back was against the wall next to the window. Another long ride on this crimson train, another long wait to see that castle on the hilltop, overlooking the lake.

Letting my mind empty of all but that image, I pulled out my color pencils, sharpener, and sketchbook and began yet another scene from Hogwarts. By the end of my seventh year, I'd probably have three hundred random Hogwarts pics...
