During my first few seconds of waking, I couldn't be sure whether I was really awake or not. I was surrounded by darkness and the echo of my own breathing. I wanted to reach forward, to see how far I could move, but at the same time I was afraid to realise just how small the space was in which I'd been caged.

Slowly I lowered my head, pressing my ear against the rocky floor. I could hear vibrations, though none seemed to close.

'Hey!' I yelled, forcing up as much air from my lungs as I could. Most of the sound seemed to rebound and crash against ym own eardrums. 'I'm stuck! Can anyone hear me?' The more I yelled, the more panic tormented me. 'Help! Help!' I started smacking my palms against the rocks, hoping one would eventually budge. 'Help! Help! Help! Help...' I was still unsure about what exactly happened, just that some form of dark sphere formed between my palms and the rock.

I found myself leaping across whatever I could find, pounding like a rabbit through the tunnel. Whatever I had conjoured, I loved it.

Eventually my feet found themselves a high perch where I stopped and watched the darkness once again.

I was reasonably high up. That was safe. I hoped it was, anyway, and I highly doubted that any flying fish would be found in the mines.

Raven

"Time to move again," I whispered, listening as the sound echoed around the cavern. I was tired and my lips were parched from thirst but I levered my body up and leaned heavily on the wall. Just have to follow it around now, I reminded myself, taking a few unsteady steps.

My leg appeared to be a little better. Perhaps I had regained some of my healing power during my rest. In fact, maybe another rest wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Luke continued through the tunnels, keeping his ears open for any sign of the enemy. Doubt ate at his mind, he couldn't possibly carry out this mission now that the others were...

He had to stop then. His knees buckled as a wave of sorrow washed over him. Tears trailed down his face in long lines as he quietly sobbed. They were all dead, his friends were dead. There was nothing he could do. Thoughts from five years ago when he killed his ally flowed through his mind. "It's all my fault," he whispered.

"Help!"

Luke raised his face to the faint echo of a voice. His spirit lifted when he recognized the voice. "...Warren?" He scrambled to his feet and drew his sword. "Hang on, Warren!" he yelled as he charged through the darkness of the mines.

(I could take over for Warren if you wanted me to...Sasquash probably won't come back. I've already talked to him.)

Warren

"Luke?!" I called. Finally, somebody answered me! I'd been calling for the past thirty minutes!

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way down...I was hanging from the remains of another track, and I knew it wouldn't hold up to one of my spells...

"Luke, up here!"

Finally! The man showed up beneath me, looking around.

Before either of us could speak, though - and just to our luck - something moved in the darkness, barreling towards us.

A cave troll.

The cave troll was bug, almost the size of a Husk. It lugged around a giant wooden club that could easily crush either of them with one blow.

"Luke, get me down!" Warren yelled.

Luke looked up to see him hanging from one of the broken tracks by his pant leg. Luke swiftly tossed a knife to cut the pant leg and release him from his sorry state. Luke could him before he hit the ground, but he hadn't prepared himself and ended up on the ground with Warren on top of him.

The troll let out a wordless scream as Luke and Warren composed themselves. It lunged forward and brought its club down on top of them. They both managed to jump out of the way in time.

"How are we going to kill this thing?" Warren asked.

The troll jerked its club free of the wreckage it had caused with its club and faced the two again.

"Trolls are strong, but they're also slow to react. You distract him while I go around and attack him from behind."

Warren

Slow. Strong but slow. Got it!

A little lightning wouldn't hurt, but it certainly would cause a commotion!

I fired bolt after bolt, trying to keep the cave troll entertained long enough to let Luke get around behind him.

God, let this work!

Karana

I could hear it. I could hear lightning...

Warren? Luke? They weren't Ilum, but they were better than no one.

I began to run towards the source, and found myself at the mouth of another chamber, more broken tracks, and a battle scene.

Raven

I awoke to the distant sound of... thunder? Great. So if I did find the entrance to the cavern, I'd have to stay inside it anyway unless I wanted to be caught in a storm. There again, at least I'd be able to look out at the sun or the moon and feel the fresh air against my face.

Sleepily, I rubbed my eyes and slowly stood. I tested my weight on both legs and found that I couldn't even remember which had been injured. Good. I patted the wall with my right hand and then set out, following it carefully.

The wall led me round and round and round until I found that the wall stopped at an edge. Perhaps the edge I had crawled along earlier. But that meant that I was in a cavern where the only exits were up and down? I felt the tears sting at my eyes and quickly retreated to the safety of the wall where I clung to it desperately. How was I ever to get out? I could allow myself to fall further down in the hope that I'd find a path that eventually led up and wouldn't break all the bones in my body in the process or I could... what? Sprout wings and fly?

Instead I settled down and closed my eyes. The dark of my eyelids was a different dark, a familiar dark and it soothed me enough to calm my thudding heart and still the tremble of my body.

"Where are you all?" I wondered.

Luke snuck behind the troll while Warren was distracting it. He jumped onto the troll's back and climbed up to its head. It took a few moments for the troll to realize he was on its back, but when it did it began flailing wildly to get him off.

Luke plunged his sword into the troll's back, he settled for its back because he couldn't reach its head like this. The creature let out an annoyed scream as it reached back and grabbed Luke and threw him at Warren.

Warren dropped his sword and caught Luke. They were both knocked to the ground. When Luke looked back at the troll he could see his sword still stuck into the creature's back. "What now?" Warren asked.

As if to answer his question, an arrow hit the troll in the face from above, piercing its cheek. The creature roar with anger as another arrow went through its nose. Three more arrows appeared after that, hitting the troll in its mouth and both its eyes.

Luke helped Warren to his feet and said, "Use lightning again." At the same time they cast their lightning spells at the troll, using Luke's sword as a lightning rod. The troll cringed and fell to the ground, motionless.

Luke and Warren both looked up to see Karana standing above them on the broken tracks. Luke felt hopeful, if both Warren and Karana survived, maybe Raven and Izuki had, too.

(If anyone's thinking of posting for piepiemann, don't. If he doesn't start posting again soon I've got something in story for his character. Before you start worrying, I'm not going to kill him off. I just have something planned for him.)

I leapt from the tracks as they began to groan under my weight, landing slightly roughly on the same level as two of my companions.

"Any idea where we are?" I asked, hoping one of them could answer me.

And where is Ilum?
