OK, I've decided to do something a little unique from all the other storybooks. The way we're going to do this might remind some people of Dungeons & Dragons. So here's the deal, everyone lives in a future that's stuck in the past, and I don't mean to contradict myself when I say this. They have advanced technology, but choose not to rely on it and instead rely on their own strengths. The upside to this is that everyone has special powers that us humans of this time do not, but that'll be explained later. So, a dark knight has been threatening the land of Arkadia. (I will be the one to control this bad guy. I'll only post him when the main characters are confronting him.) He has powerful dark powers that lets him summon and control all types of animals and monsters. On top of that, he's found ancient machinery that he has been able to convert into robots, more commonly referred to as Steel Soldiers, or Husks. This is where you guys come in. A group of heros have set off on a quest to vanquish the dark knight and restore peace throughout Arkadia. As far as the story goes, I'll leave that up to you guys, just keep it within the dark knight thing. As far as battles go, you guys can decide when to make monsters appear and stuff. But, once in a while I'll make monsters appear, too. And you can't kill them off in one hit, either. When I make monsters appear, you can always bet that there will be more than 4 of them. And when you run into boss battles, I will tell you how long the battle will have to be before you can actually kill it. Here's the fun part. I didn't call this storybook VG Rumble for nothing. There will be a level-up system that includes magic and various other powers. You cannot use magic at the beginning of the story. I will decide who gets a level-up on their magic and stuff and who doesn't depending on how well the characters fight AND work together. Magic: Basic Magic: There are four basic elements of magic, fire, ice, electricity and healing. If there are any other elements you would like to use, PM me and I'll add it to the list later on. Nobody can use magic right off the bat. After the first battle I'll give a few individuals a couple of spells. Magic consists of three levels: Level 1: Shooting magic out of your hand/Healing minor wounds. Level 2: Having other uses for the magic, such as imbuing your weapon with an element/Healing major wounds, such as severed limbs. Level 3: Casting bigger, badder spells that will sometimes result in instant death for the enemy/Bringing a character back to life within ten minutes of his/her death. (Current list of basic magic elements: fire, ice, lightning, wind, healing, water, void.) Advanced Magic: Unlike basic magic, advanced magic is much more deadly, even so to the caster if it isn't used properly. Also unlike basic magic, advanced magic spells only level up once, not twice. Level 1: Basic use of the spell. 1 cast per day. Level 2: Spell becomes more potent, and dangerous. 2 casts per day. (Current list of advanced magic elements: gravity, time, meteor, holy, earth, bio.) Skill Magic: Unlike the rest of the magic spells that are used for attacking, skill magic is a type of magic that helps augment a character's ability in or outside of battle. An example of this is the use of the Shadow spell to make a character become invisible. Another example would be using the Enhanced Sight spell to see farther than ever before. Level 1: Limited use of spell, 2 casts per day. Level 2: Spell becomes more potent, 3 casts per day. Level 3: Magic cannot fail being cast or reversed by enemies, 4 casts per day. (Current list of skill magic: Shadow, Enhanced Sight, Enhanced Smell, Enhanced Hearing, Unlock, Empathy, Intimidate, Burst of Strength, Burst of Speed, Metaphysical Shield.) Weapon Conversion: Weapon conversion is when you use special powers to change the shape and strength of your weapons so it becomes even more powerful than before. Important: I will tell you when you can use this power. I'll post something that says, "(character's name) can use Weapon Conversion!" Then, and ONLY then can you use it. You can choose whatever your new weapon looks like and its powers. Be creative. Over-Drive: An instant-kill power. It can be whatever you want it to be, but once you use it the enemy you're fighting will die. This is just like Weapon Conversion, you can only use it if I say you can. You can always bet I'll save this for boss battles. Unity: Basically this power is the ability for two characters to fuse into one super-being. Just like Weapon Conversion and Over-Drive, you can only use this when I say you can. But there's a catch. This power can't be used by just any two characters. When two characters interact with each other and form a bond of friendship, only then will those two characters be able to use this power. Whenever I decide to give someone a level-up with a certain magic or another ability, I'll also list all the abilities that all the characters have at the same time to avoid confusion. Summons: A fairly new addition to the storybook, a character who has the ability to summon can call upon a beast of great power, known as Espers, to aid the group in battle. (The name Esper comes from the game Final Fantasy 12.) The only way to obtain this power is to defeat one of these creatures in battle. When defeated, these creatures will drop an orb that will fuse with the first person who touches it. That person will be able to summon the creature that produced the orb. Summons may only be used once a day by any member of the group, meaning if one person summons something, no one else may summon until the following day. (Current Summon-able Creatures: Leviathan, Ifrit, Shiva, Quezacotl) I know it's a lot to sink in at once, but you don't have to worry about all this stuff. I'll be taking care of all the technical things like level-ups. All you guys have to worry about is telling the story and enjoying yourselves. Character Profile: Name: Gender: Age: Race/Species: (It can be anything, as long as it's a humanoid. Shapeshifters are definitely out.) Class: Appearance: Weapon(s): (Maximum 2 weapons per character.) Personality: History: (If there's anything else you'd like to say about your character that I haven't list, go ahead and write it.)

Ilum looked at the beast with disgust, "Raven, to answer your question, i don't really know! Warren, give me a boost!"

"Right!"

Warren knelt down as Ilum ran. Leaping and Warren throwing him at the beast he slashed at the monsters shoulder, but when he landed it appeared as if the attack did nothing but piss it off.

(P.S. I wont Ice power.)

The dragon roared in fury and suddenly a great ball of fire burst from its mouth. I leapt back just in time as did most of the others but Ilum Ro, being the closest, was too late. The fire encircled him and he was engulfed in a tower of flames.

"Ilum!" I rushed forward but Warren pulled me back. Suddenly, the flames froze and then disintegrated and Ilum offered us a weak but triumphant smile as he stumbled in our direction.

"Where did you learn how to do that?" Karan asked, her voice full of admiration as she notched a bolt to her bow and drew the string back.

"I'm not sure," Ilum Ro admitted, "But that was too close for comfort."

"It sure was," I replied, reaching out to pat him on the back. My fingers brushed against his bare skin where the shirt had been burned from his back and I drew away. "Sorry!" I exclaimed. "I wasn't thinking. Do they hurt much?" Ilum Ro stared at me for a moment before shaking his head.

"No, not too much. I mean, they did but now... the pain seems to have receded."

"Really?" Warren asked. "You must heal really quick."

It wasn't that. Raven had healed him! The minute she touched him, the wounds had begun to seal and disappear, like that was her magic...

"Or you just healed him," I breathed, then looked at my own hand. By only just thinking about it, I called the dragon's fires to me and held it in my hand, the flames not burning me.

"This is too cool!" I slightly squealed. I had powers! I could control my favorite item: fire. "Want to test these out on that dragon?"

I smiled and let out a short, pleasant burst of laughter. "Go ahead my friends but I don't think my power will be so great against that monster."

"True," Warren noted. "But at least you have one."

"No worries Warren," Karana replied as she hurled the fire ball towards the dragon. "I'm sure you'll find yours soon." We all watched as the dragon took into the air, dodging the fire with ease.

"It's going to hit those civilians!" Warren exclaimed. He extended a hand towards the fire involuntarily and suddenly it turned directions and headed towards us.

"Not a good idea!" Ilin Ro exclaimed, raising his own arm so that a bolt of ice smothered the flames.

"Now why not use those against the dragon this time?" I prompted, breathing a sigh of relief. "But while you're doing that, I'm going to help the people who were hurt by those bull demons."

"Hey Karana!" i yelled, "I have an idea!" a sly smile appeared on my face.

"Oh yea, whats that?"

"Just run at the dragon and you'll find out."

"What?" she said, looking dumbfounded(?)

"Just trust me." i said, smile never faltering.

She ran at the dragon, not completly sure of what to expect, but out of nowhere, a huge gust of wind lifted her off of her feet, and flying strait towards the dragon.

"Now hit it!" i yelled, hoping she could do it.

It's ok to be a kid sometimes,

it's what keeps old people young

and young people growing!

I finally understood what Warren had planned. Using his wind powers, he would give me the ultimate speed boost, and I would hit the creature with my fire magic! It would work!

"Great plan, Warren!" I shouted, gaining speed by holding my arms to my sides.

I was flying too fast. I was almost at the dragon when I realized I would have to use my magic. Fire around both fists, I slammed into the mighty creature with enough force to send it backwards several feet. Then it disappeared as I fell to the ground and rolled back onto my feet.

"Where is it? Did it work?!"

Ilum looked around, worriedly. Though he was sure the hit did something he wasn't sure it was dead. Getting at bad feeling he looked up to see the dragon hovering above. It aimed a giant fire ball at Karan. Running he pulled her close to him and activated his power causing an ice shield to form around his body.

When the flames dispersed he released his spell and let go of Karan. On one knee Ilum was panting. Even though he didn't feel it physically, he knew that took it's toll.

"Ilum, are you okay?!" asked Karan putting her hand on his shoulder.

"Ilum!" yelled Raven coming closer. Catching up she said, "Should I heal you?"

Ilum pushed her away, "No time." Running for the beast he picked his sword out of the dirt. The dragon breathed a breath of fire, but it was diverted by Karan's power sending it to the side. Again and again this happened until he was directly below the beast.

Warren used his power to shoot him at the dragon. Flying like a bullet he used his own power to make and icy bolt in front of his sword. Using it as leveraged he dug into it's chest with his sword. Leaving it behind he fell to the ground along with the dragon.

I will always fight back, no matter what.

At last the creature was dead and I rushed over to Ilum, pulling him away from the carcass.

"Now should I heal you?" I asked with a small smile as I layed a hand upon his bare arm. Concentrating, I piled my energy into him and watched as every tiny scratch, every little bruise faded.

"If only you could heal torn clothes," He let out a short laugh and climbed to his feet. I checked Karana and Warren over next, touching them briefly and feeling my energy drop another level. The magic seemed to sap the very strength from my body but I couldn't stop there. There were civilians still to see to.

"I'll go inform the king," Ilum Ro decided. Warren nodded and together they headed back towards the palace.

"Is there anything I can do?" Karana asked.

"I don't think so," I replied. "Follow them and let the king know I'll come in a few minutes."

Finally, it was over. The beast was dead. I was a little tired, but I supposed it was from using my magic...

"Wait up, guys!" I ran after Warren and Ilum, who stopped just long enough to let me catch up. I sighed, slowing my pace to match theirs.

"Hard battle, but fun," I commented.
