"Like I'll by that, still." Delita looked into her eyes, "Maybe I was wrong, you may be a kid, but you sure don't act like one. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and poofed away to the tree line in the back where the commanding officer was.

"You fight well for an assassin."

"I'll take that as a compliment."

(Not much at the moment.)
I will always fight back, no matter what.

Aren stood frozen. She looked around and her cheeks were burning.

"No wonder Pa said that i was no good when it came to men." SHe sighed, she walked back to the rest of the forest people and saw Delita talking to a commanding officer. She walked over to the girl that she had helped before. "You need help with anything?" She asked,

"No," the girl smiled, she walked around getting boreder and boarder by the minute. She climbed up into a tree to watch everyone and to keep an eye for any unknown watchers.

Amanta spotted Luke and walked over to him. He quickly grabbed her arms and looked her over. "ARe you okay? I heard you scream-"

"I'm fine, one of the sea assassians helpped me out of a tight spot."

"You weren't even supposed to be on the battle feild."

"There was an injured soilder, I had to help."

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Aside from my throat hurting a little bit from the screaming I'm fine."

Luke sighed in relief and released her arms, "want to listen to the negotiations?"

"Don't expect me to remain silent the whole time."

"I never thought such a thing."

She smiled, "good."
I just lost the game.

Luke

I led Amanta over to a small clearing where some soldiers were setting up General Samak's tent. When they had finished, we ducked inside and were soon joined by General Samark, General Cronan and the three sea assassins.

"Okay, let's start with introductins shall we," General Samark decided as he sat down on one of the stools.

"Alright. I'm Delita of the people of the sea and these are Silver and Aren," The oldest of the three settled himself onto one of the other stools and then the others followed until everyone was seated.

"I'm General Samark. This is General Cronan. Luke introduced himself earlier and this is one of our healers, Amanta."

"Okay now let's talk business. The Queen will be willing to offer you lots of money for your services and all you have to do is continue to attack the other two nations," Delita explained.

The General seemed to ponder the offer. "I will except, but it is our prince who will make the final call. I shall send a runner. If the answer is yes we shall feast, but if no we will let you leave though our next encounter will not be so pleasant."

Delita nodded and stood up, bowing he left the tent to go find a nice quiet place to be alone, though some how he had an idea he would be interrupted by someone.

Aren walked back to the tree she had been sitting in earlier and sat back down on the branch. Her head was throbbing from a stupid headache that had started after the meeting. She gently rubbed her temples and laid her head back on the tree closing her eyes.

'Maybe a little shut eye will make it go away.' She thought to herself. She sighed and gave way to the darkness. She had only been asleep for a few minutes when seh was woken up.

"Hey, assassin, wake up." Someone called from below her. She looked down hoping she was killing the person with her glare.

"Why?" She demanded. The forest soldier stepped back,

"Don't kill me, I'm just doin what I was told to do." He said.

"I ain't gonna kill you, why did you wake me up?" She demanded.

"I..I was told to get the assassians and show them the tent y'all will be staying in." He said,

"I don't know about the others, but I don't sleep in a tent, it is to vonerable." She said laying her head back again.

"Could you..." He started, "Can you... will you tell the other assassians though?" He asked,

"Wake me up in ten minutes and I will." SHe sighed, he nodded and darted off.

*Sorry it's been a while; I never found a good place to post my character. I hope this will work..."

Kenran crouched at the base of the tree, instantly recongizing Aren's voice. He smiled as the soldier hurried to put as much distance between him and Aren as possible--she usually had that affect on people--and watched as she shifted and tried to go back to sleep.

He waited a moment, then said, "You've had most of us in a nervous wreck, you know that?"

With an exasperated sigh, Aren sat up again on her perch. "Oh, for the love of..." SShe stopped, blinking into the darkness.

"Relax, it's me," Kenran said, stepping breifly out of the shadows. "No one knows what's been going on. I think the captains and generals know, but if they do, they haven't told us. And we've been kept nearly under lock and key. I was caught outside of camp, when I saw the Forest soldiers, and for the moment I've had cut rations and... and I missed a letter from home."

Aren winced. She knew how much his monthly letters meant to him. "I'm sorry."

Kenran shrugged it away. "What's been going on that kept us under such tight security?"

"I guess just all the fighting, as I said before, I just joined in for the fun. Now I'm with two other sea assassins. At least their the only ones that don't shed away from me." She smiled and jumped down out of the tree. She let out a yawn and started looking for Delita, Kenran followed.

"So, what made you want to join this fight. You could've just been hired by the highest bider." He said,

"I could've, but then I might have been told to kill you or one of my other friends. And that would mean having to kill my higherer." She replied flatly.

Dahlia

The news spread rapidly throughout the camp and wherever I walked amongst the soldiers, there was silence. A whole squad. And not just any squad. Our main squad. Wiped out by a small group of forest soldiers earlier that day.

"How many survivors?" I turned to see the man clutching at my arm. Crimson blood seeped from his head and I turried to lay my other hand on his.

"How many?" He repeated as I knitted the flesh together.

"Four," I sighed. "And probably released on purpose to scare us or so they could be followed back to this camp."

"I thought as much. We almost didn't come. Krolin and me that is. I didn't know about the others but only two. That's not good."

"No it's not," I agreed, moving away.

"Are there men at the gates?"

"Nearly everyone. Those you see here need their rest as do you. A serious healing like this can sap your strength. You'll feel fine but too much exhaustion and you'll faint."

*Sorry I haven't posted, I've had literally had three hours of homework everyday*

Silver

Silver sat in the tallest tree in the area, so he could watch the entire campground, though instead of watching, he was thinking about Delita and Aren. Delita had always seemed to hate him, since he was a child, always acting so Superior. Silver had always pushed himself to try to be better then Delita, and he had succeeded in many things, though not all of them, such as open battle. Silver had never seen the point of doing something so primitive, so had not deemed it worth his time. Aren did not seem to be that great at it either, but he wasn't sure. I wonder what her past was like, I know almost nothing about her. She does seen quite taken with Delita... funny. I might have to fix that. With this thought Silver started to lean back against the tree trunk and fall asleep.

Amanta and Luke sat by a camp fire while Amanta reapplied some healing herbs to the cut on his arm.

"You got a good view of battle today didn't you?" Luke asked, half teasing half serious.

"Yes, I did."

"Didn't like it did you?"

"I was helpless, I didn't like being helpless. Next time I'll take a sword or at least a knife."

"Next time?" He asked agast.

"Well I am going to be doing this again, this wasn't a one time thing Luke. I saved that mans life today, and because of that we didn't lose anyone. I'm going to keep doing this."

"You know, if your brother was alive he'd smack you silly."

"If my brother was alive, I wouldn't even be here. He'd make me stay at home."

"Remember the first time you came out here?"

Amanta laughed, "yeah, when you two caught me he was lecturing me in his tent for like two hours and when he was done he said 'i missed you sis, glad you came'."

"He was an odd one."

"Well, he was my brother wasn't he?"
I just lost the game.

Luke

"Yeah," I grinned at her and then the smile dropped from my face and I turned away. "Yeah. He wouldn't want you here, Amanta."

"So you said but you worry too much," Amanta replied. For a moment we sat in a companionable silence, side by side, warming our hands by the fire. I couldn't believe how comfortable it felt to have Amanta there instead of one of the other archers.

"What do you think of the assassins?" I asked casually.

"They seem alright," She replied. "But I don't think they're too friendly with each other."

"You're right there. The two men are certainly far from friends but assassins are like that."

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
