"Its never bad to be overprotective, just no one sees the good to it." Siren said, she saw Ben walk in and she tried to hide her face by looking the other way. Kevin looked past her and his face gotten even grimmer.
"Do you two get along most of the time?" He asked,
"Only when need be, or my dad is around." She replied, "Other then that we don't talk much."
"Oh," Came the reply.
"And you wonder why we don't like you!" -Trumpkin

Kevin

"Oh," I replied, slightly shocked.
"Yeah," She sighed, cringing inwards as if she could hide from him. I got to my feet and took a few steps forward. At this, Siren sat up straight again and stared at me.
"Hi there," I called to Ben. He ignored me and turned to his sister.
"What you doing in here?" Ben demanded.
"Having a drink," Siren replied.
"Well come home. We need to talk."
"Later."
"No. Now."

"Actually," I cut in, "We were kind of busy so if you don't mind..."
"Busy?" Ben snorted. "Having a drink?"
"Yeah. Having a drink. I'll drop her off at home tonight. I don't mind if you want to ring to check how she is. I know how it is with little sisters but don't worry, I'll look after her." At that Ben stared at me, his eyes transfixed on my smug smile and then he shook his head in amusement and walked out without so much as a farewell to his sister.

Siren too stared at me for a moment and then burst out laughing.
"Wow. Okay. Now if that's how you acted with Riley, I can see your problem." I smiled sheepishly and returned to my seat.
"Sorry but if he'd stayed much longer I might have been tempted to punch him."
"So. You have a little sister?" Siren asked changing the topic.
"Used to," I replied.

Riley

I rested my elbows on the bench as Roxy, Olivia and Kasey entered.

"Hey Ri," Kasey said, leaning over the bar and hugging me. "How are ya?"

"What do you want?" I asked, avoiding the question.

The girls rolled their eyes at each other.

"What are you doing here Riley?" Roxy asked.

"What do you want?"

I replied with the same sentence each time they asked me a question. Eventually, they left and went to talk to Kevin, Max and Siren. Dylan and Jake still hadn't come.

"Riley!" they shouted as they crashed through the door. "Roxy, Liv! Kevin!"

"I'll just be a sec," I said to Jane, and rushed other to my friends. Jake and Dylan were pale.

"What's going on guys?" I asked impatiently.

"There was an accident," Dylan said, popping open the beer that I handed him from the bar. "We were driving along the main road, and there were loads of emergency vechicles. We got out and, and..."

"And Ninen's been involved in a crash," Jake finished, dowing his beer. "She was coming here, and she got hit by some drunk P-plater. You guys have to come with us."

I bit my lip. "I can't guys, I have to work."

"I'll cover for you," Jane said from behind me. She had obviously been listening to the whole thing. "Just go and help your friend."

I nodded, "Thanks."

Kevin

Yet again my phone began to ring and I was very tempted to just turn it off but with a grimace I answered.
"Hello?" I sighed.
"Kevin! Where are you man? Ninen's been involved in a crash on the road that passes the old warehouse." Jake gasped.
"What! Who else knows?"
"Riley, Dylan and me. Roxy and Olivia had already left the club when we got there."
"Okay. I'll find the other girls. You three look after Ninen, okay?"

Hurriedly I stuffed my mobile back into my pocket and tossed the bar tender some coins.
"What is it?" Siren asked.
"Ninen's been involved in a crash. I've got to find Roxy and Olivia and then we're heading for the hospital."
"Oh wow. You guys really do have some bad luck," Siren replied, following me out. I grimaced again and then pulled my phone back out and rang Roxy's number. She didn't pick up. I tried Olivia's and finally got an answer.

"Hi Kevin. Sorry, Riley is being really stubborn. We can't..."
"Olivia," I interrupted her, "Ninen's been involved in an accident. Can you and Roxy get down to the hospital?"
"We're not far from there but we're on foot. Is she okay?"
"I'm not sure. I'll look for you on the way and pick you up."

Ava

Ava's slim figure stood at the doorway to her new apartment, one box in hand and a backpack on her back. The keys were still stuck in the door, the empty apartment glaring at her. It wasn't large, a living room connected to a dining room that walked right into the small kitchen. She set the box down against a wall and investigated the rest of the place. It had one master bedroom and one smaller bedroom, but only one bathroom. The place didn't need to be huge; after all, it was just her. A couple men came in behind her with more boxes and roller carts, placing them in the room they were tagged for. Ava made her way over to the sliding door and out to the balcony, second story wasn't bad. She saw a playground about a hundred feet away, children laughing all around it. She smiled and glanced down to her watch, knowing her grandmother would be over soon to help set things up, then they would go visit her grandfather.

The movers began bringing in the bigger furniture: the sofa, bedframe, etc. Ava went back down to the parking lot and threw her thick auburn curls up into a ponytail before unloading the small things that were in her car, trying her best to stay out of the movers way while they worked hard to help her. The sun bounced off the surrounding cars, landing on her brilliant smile.

I was in a daze as I sat in the backseat of Dylan's car and he drove wildly to the hospital. It was a miracle he didn't get pulled over.

"I can't believe this is happening," I muttered, and shrivered, wishing I had brought a jacket.

"We're almost at the hospital," Jake announced.

I nodded grimly. I didn't care where we were, I just wanted to see Ninen. Finally, we arrived and rushed into the emergency depatrement.

"I need to see Ninen," I gasped. "She was admitted earlier. She was in a car crash."

The lady nodded. "I'm sorry, but we're only letting in her family."

I bit my lip. "That's alright. "I'm her sister."

My friends stared at me weirdly as I entered the room she was lying in.

*whoa i say i'm going away and you try to kill off my character?*

*internet jokes are fun... anyways here's my post*

Ninen's eyes fluttered open when Riley walked in, and her look of anger faded into slight happiness.

"When I heard the door open I thought it was my mum," she teased.

"Oh well don't I feel loved? Comparing me to you're mum eh?"

Ninen surpressed a laugh, laughing hurt, "they're only letting family in apparently so... Oh God nobody told her did they? I don't want her to come."
I just lost the game.

"Don't worry about your mum coming, only I have your phone number and address."

"How did you get in?" Ninen asked.

"I let out the truth, well, half of it, anyway."

Ninen nodded. Our realtionship had always been weird. It started after dad had an affair just after mum got pregnant with me. Ninen and I were actually half-sisters. We grew up together (mum still didn't know about Ninen and dad, neither did Jasmine), and were great friends, but we had some major fights. The most recent had been three years before, and we hadn't said a word to each other until that day at the lake. The fight had been about dad. I was annoyed because dad was psending more time with Ninen than he was with me, and it ended up becoming a physical fight.

"Do you know how bad the damadge is?" I asked.

Ninen shook her head. "No, they want to speak to a relative. Can you tell them that I have no parents? Just get them to tell you."

I nodded. "Of course."

I closed my eyes, whatever was wrong with me hurt so bad. I opened her eyes and found a nurse standing over me putting something into an iv bag.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Giving you more morphine."

"Can you tell me how bad it is?"

"We'd rather speak to one of your parents about it."

"I don't have parents."

"Yes you do, she's out in the waiting room."

I groaned, how had she found out? They'd make me go home with her now, "I don't want to speak to her, or see her."

"But she's your mother, and she's really worried about you."

"I don't care!"
I just lost the game.

Ninen's mother sat across from me in the waiting room. She seemed mad that they wouldn't let her in or tell her what was wrong with her daughter, and yet they told me. That was before they had found Ninen's phone number in her purse and told her mother.

"Why did they let you in?" Ninen's mum sneered at me. She had never liked me. "I thought they were only letting family in."

I rolled my eyes. She knew I was Ninen's half-sister, but she refused to believe it.

"What's wrong with my daughter, anyway?"

I shook my head. "You'll find out. Eventually."

We sat in silence until a doctor came.

"She would like to speak to you, Ms. Funk."

I stood up and nodded, heading towards my friend's room, while I listened to Ninen's mother beg to be able to see her daughter.

I picked up Olivia and Roxy not far from the hospital and then rushed into the car park. We jumped out, I locked the doors and we hurried inside.
"Where's Ninen?" Roxy demanded at the fron desk. A rather startled receptionist looked at us, blinking several times.
"Please. We're her friends," I assured her gently, my hands clenched so tight with worry that my knuckles were turning white. She gave a half nod and pointed down the corridor.

We reached the right area to find Ninen's mother outside.
"Oh great. Look who else decided to show up."
"Hey," Dylan called. "Riley is in there with her."
"And Jake?" Roxy asked.
"Gone downstairs to get drinks."
"How is she?" I queried.
"Haven't had much of a chance to speak with Riley but hopefully they'll let us in soon," Dylan replied. I nodded and began to pace.
"Let you in? They wont even let me in," Ninen's mother sobbed.

((Sorry for not posting. My Internet has been down.))

I'm switching to first person.

I absently watched Kevin pace as I visualized the many possible injuries Ninen could have obtained. I started with the small, but they soon grew in severity until I finally blinked and looked away.

"I hope she's alright." Olivia murmured. I said nothing as I fought back the gruesome pictures filling my head.

Ninen didn't say much. Her face was scrunched up with pain.

"She's got some pretty bad injuries," the doctor told me. "You'll only be able to talk for a little while, and then we'll have to put her to sleep."

I nodded. "What's wrong with her?" I asked quietly.

The doctor hesitated, but told me. "She's injured her spine, got a broken leg suffered minor head injuries. She should be fine in a few weeks, but the spine injury is probably lasting. Ninen will probably be in a wheelchair the rest of her life."

I nodded and the doctor left us alone. I sat down next to the bed and wept. Ninen would hate to be in a wheelchair. There's nothing worse to her than not being ablt to get around. She was a very independednt person.
