Do you have a phobia?

I heard that people are afraid of spiders because they're hairy, have all those eyes and legs, small, and just creepy.

Once when I went to Girl Scout Camp for the first and only time, I was washing my hands or filling something up at this big out door sink, and all these granddaddy longlegs started crawling on me! I freaked out and screamed, being the little 9-year-old I was. Or was I 8?..............

Oh, now Grandaddy Longlegs...THOSE are creepy. I hate them. They are one of my worst nightmares. I don't know why since I am not scared of other kinds of spiders...its probably the long legs.

DEFINITLEY the long legs. I can handle the Brown Orb Spiders (which are about, say, one to two inches in diameter... pretty large butt and all) and Tarantula's and all that, but you get those friggen long-legged guys the hell away from me. I have the same issue with those mosquito eaters. They're the same as daddy long legs... except they fly... into your face...

*shivers*...

I'm ok with granddaddy long legs. They can't bite us, although I saw a big one once that looked like it could. We used to have a colony of those spiders at our old house, and we get some here at our new one, so I'm used to them.

Ugh, those big mesquitoes are annoying! :x I don't know if they actually suck blood, though. But one of them likes to get into our house every few monthes. Grrrr.

If a mosquito starts drinking your blood, tighten your muscles as hard as you can and they will suddenly blow up. It is so cool.

I know Longlegs can't bite you but they have more poison than a Black Widow so...that is really scary.

Yeah, I hate mesquito eaters. They freak me out, 'cuz I just see them out of the corner of my eye and they look like huge spiders lol. Then they fly all around me, and I run away. :P

I am scared mainly of heights, which is kind of ironic because this summer I jumped off cliffs into Lake Superior and went on a high ropes course.

I am also scared of backstroke starts. For those of you who don't swim, you push off the edge of the pool, throw your body back, and streamline until you come up. It's scary because you can see the surface and it's just out of reach and you can't breathe and you're running out of air and...okay I've gone on long enough. I'm scaring myself.

Actually, that's not true. You ever seen the Discovery Channel show Myth Busters? They busted that myth. Daddy Longlegs DO have venom, but not much of it, and it's not even that toxic. The best it could do is strike very small insects. I can't remember the entire episode, but they talked to all these anthropologists (is that what they're called?)... insect scientists... and they were all "we have no idea how that myth was started, but it's totally false".

I was kind of bummed out because I always liked throwing that little fact around...

But I AM deathly afraid of Black Widows. It's kind of like with snakes... if I know they're harmless, I'm fine, but once I find out they can hurt me, I'm just... not OK.

I am not afraid of heights, the last two summers for Junior lifeguards I jumped off the pier 65 ft, next summer 80 ft I love planes rides. I am not afraid of snakes at all, even the poison ones and we have rattlesnakes here. I have held tralanchalas and don't think they are creepy or scary. Bugs are annoying but I am not scared of them. We once had a wasps nest near our tree house latter but since we did not bug them they left us alone, I have never been stung by a bee so I am not scared of either. I like daddy long legs but truthfully since we have black widows here I am scared or every black widow sized spider I don't recognize. I am not scared of death.

I think my root fear is pain. It manifests in things such as mild fear of heights (only when I think about it), fear of spiders (particularly after the underwear episode...see my blog  ), fear of illness, etc. I dont fear death as such, merely the pain that often precludes it. I dont know if you'd call that a phobia (unreasonable fear) though, since it seems pretty rational to me, LOL!
Got a poem or short story you want me to critique?

Entemology is the study of instects.

Im afraid of dying a horrible slow death.
Im afraid of being eaten alive.
Im afraid of poltergiests/ghosts, just the horrid ones anyway.
Heights not as much, I used to. And suffocating, hate that feeling where you cant move your limbs at all, constricting too.
You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, instead, you should read every single book to see what every book is about before you even come close to judging its viability.

Hm... I don't have any phobias that I know of. If there's anything I'm afraid of, it's escaping my comfort zone, but that's normal, so it doesn't count.

I used to be afraid to death of clowns, though, and I still don't especially care for them, but now it's just because I think they're stupid lol.

I don't like knives... at all. And I don't like chainsaws either. Any whirrling sharp blade gets me nervous.

I'm afraid of heights too.

I fear heights. Not the big kind like cliffs or skyscrapers but little stuff like trees, ladders and ferris wheels. I think it's easier to imagine hitting the ground when you're closer to it, from big heights I can only imagine the falling part and that doesn't scare me.

I don't have too many fears...I don't particularly like wasps, but I'm not really afraid of them...

I'm not afraid of bees either...I mean, they barely even sting. You have to swat at them to get them to sting you. Whenever bees are near me I just let them...be. (BA-DUM-TSH!!!) They usually end up crawling on my hand or my face, but I don't mind. (Luckily, I'm not allergic to pollen.) Once time at the State Fair (of Texas), I had to watch helplessly as a bee drank my root beer...

I'm only afraid of ghosts after hearing stories or programs about them, but usually other times I'm ok because I know they don't really exist. Well, demons impersonating people are considered ghosts, but that's another subject.

Last year, we had this big yellow and black garden spider that had made web in our backyard. I named him Hank, though it was probably a she since it was so big...

I'm not really afraid of heights or death either...

Like if I imagine myself falling down the stairs, I'll just suddenly see the floor, sideways, as if I had actually fallen down and landed at the bottom. Sometimes I can feel it, too.. Only for a few seconds, though.

That happens to me as I'm falling asleep. I'll imagine falling down and hitting the floor, and my body will jerk. Weird...

For some reason I wanna blow stuff up right now...Not to hurt anyone or cause trouble, of course...I just want some fireworks or something... ;D I'm a pyro. xD
