Do you have a phobia?

Ah, come on Crysi, you should have touched the tarantula too (if he ever lets you)! Its nothing to be scared of, I did it a lot of times. Although they are very hairy...

I'm not sure I have a phobia, I love heights and climbing things, snakes too, never been scared of siders I poke them with sticks sometimes. Insects, well, maybe a little, a very little, if they're really close and a can't see them but no they're there I kind of panic, but otherwise, no. Wasps? Actually I may have a phobia of one particular type of wasp. I'm not sure what they're called by they're EVIL!!! EVIL I TELL YOU!!!! They're the size of jumbo jets, and are all red and black. THey hang around our place at summer, and kill catipillers to lay eaggs in *shudders* They're MONSTERS!! they're so protective of their eggs, they actually chase you!!! And if you've never had a huge, stinging insect chasing you while making clicking noises... you don't want to!!! It's TERRIFING!!!! One actually landed on my back once, but I screamed and ran before it could sting me. All the kids on our road used to have wars with them, but have you ever had to fight something that can dodge every rock you throw? We always eneded up screaming and running... while it CHASED us.
*shudders* ugh. I hate those wasps....

Ugh, wasps. Don't like them. Don't like bees, either. Unless they're not the stinging kind. I don't really have a phobia of spiders. I kill the small ones, usually. I don't really know what my phobia is. I can stand snakes, unless there's more than one around and they're not behind a glass case. Or if they're eight feet or less away from me and I don't know if they're poisoness.

Oh! I have a phobia of ghosts! Ok, it might be a fear and not a phobia. But I think every house I'm in is haunted at somepoint, and I usually can't sleep without the radio on. And yet, I still watch some ghost shows....

This one ghost story has haunted me since I was 8... I get scared VERY easily. So I don't risk horror movies. I usually have my radio on when I go to sleep, although I don't really need it, it just makes me feel a little safter. What keeps me awake, is the fear that some robber or murderer will creep in my window. I'm not afraid of fantasy made up things, they're all cool tp me, but real life? Terrifing.

Yes, that keeps me awake, too. Sometimes I get up and go look around because I'm afraid someones breaking in when i hear the house settling. I used to not be afraid of that, because my room was off the ground, and because I usually had one of our dogs or my cat in the room at night. Now we've moved, made our dogs outside dogs, and our cat died. Having the radio or my stereo on is the only thing that helps.
I don't like being alone at home for very long at night(usually after eight,) either, because I become afriad that someone might try and break in. So now I keep this wooden pole near me when I'm home alone.

And my fear of ghosts is what usually keeps me away from horror movies.

I'm also afraid of tornados. My parents were once caught in one.

... we don't get many natural disasters here. Once, I had to stay home alone at night for a few hours, I was so scared. I holed up in the lounge, turned the TV on and watched a DVD (well sort of, it was kind of background noise for comfort because what I was really focussing on was the book I was reading) I made sure I wouldn't have to leave the comfort of that room for anything. I didn't have to, but it was so scary...

I've never been afraid of snakes. When we were little, my brothers and I would fish snakes from our well and keep them in empty fish tanks until we were made to let them go, you just had to be sure they weren't tipans or death adders or somthing equally poisionous.
In Paupa New Guinea the waters were clear and we would sometimes see sea snakes in the water when we were spear fising or swimming, though you can't touch them. We keep pet snakes, though you have to have a license now.

I guess the whole phobia thing is really triggered by what sort of childhood you had, i mean, if you grew up with parents who are terrified of spiders, say, and are continually reminding you of their dangers, then, more likely than not, your going to dislike them too. But if you've grown up with spiders, then you were encouraged to handle them from an early age, then your probably going to be fine with them in your adulthood.

No natural disasters? Lucky you! We can get tornados and floods here. And sometimes earthquakes, but they're really small.

When I'm home alone I turn on a lot of lights. Then I keep a TV on while I'm doing things.

Here we have macasins(I think that's how you spell them, and I think that's the snake). I've never seen one, though. But I've heard some stories about them.

Yeah, phobias are mostly based on your experiences. Once I got hurt by something(can't remember what happened), and I was afraid to do whatever it was I had done. And people who were attacked by dogs when they were young grow up hating or fearing them.

strangely enough, I know what you mean about the heart thing. My heart does that too, except after the sort of painful fluttering, it just goes away, only lasts like 30 seconds overall, but I still feel like I'm going to pass out for something. It used to happen a lot when I was younger, not as much any more. I went to some doctors and they just murmured vague answers about weak valves and said to go ahead and keep excercising, though there was a faint possibility I might drop dead. ok, so they didn't say that, but they probably meant it and didn't want so scare me.

funny how many people are afraid of snakes, spiders, and wasps. I love snakes, am fairly neutral about spiders as long as they arent the gross fat black kind and dont crawl on me, but I absolutely hate wasps, bees, and yellowjackets. I'm a complete sissy about them. I also have this strange fear of walking over those drainage grates they have in the ground- like theyre suddenly going to collapse if I walk on them.

Speaking of natural disasters, we had both a tornado watch AND flash flood warning here today. There was so much water, everywhere.....

Oh yes, I remember hearing on the news that those big stormclouds were passing by the south. We had a flash flood a couple of days ago.

I'm afraid of becoming a vegetable on a hospital bed sucking up my families resources until they're bankrupt. But more then that, I'm afraid of being oppressed. Of having something happen to me where I can't write any more, or where some law is passed or something... scars the crap out of me. Labotomies.

But the wasps are dead right now. Huzzah.

On the spider side... there's these big brown spiders that hang around my house (about six of them at night) that weave four-feet-in-diameter webs. And coincidentally they like to weaved these webs around the trash cans, and sometimes I forget to take out the trash until the middle of the night, when they weave said webs. Brown Orb Spiders, I think they're called, by the way. Anyway, I sometimes run smack dab into these webs, and it creeps me out. Majorly. I end up taking off, blast closing the garden gate behind me.

I freak out.

Wow....why is everyone so scared of spiders?

I'm not so scared of them (I'm alright with holding them and watching them and transplanting them if need be), but it just creeps me out if I run into a web of there's. Ever run into a web? It sucks.

Oh yeah, I did some time. So, basically its the fear of not knowing that they are there when they are or something? Because holding them and stuff isnt that bad.
