Ok. my first story book. After watching POC3 i thought maybe a pirate storybook woul be fun.

Anyway, no god charcters and dont control other characters too much. Do not kill off other chracters with out permission.

It is 1700 The beginning of the so called Golden Age of Piracy. Pirates Roam the seas killing and looting all for the sake of riches. Many ships have taken up the fight against them but the Pirates know the ways of the sea better than most. Many pirate are extremely violent giving no quarter and slaughtering all. But a massing of ships determined to wipe out the pirate threat, threatens the existant of these Pirates. So faced with only one option the pirates must unite which goes against there natural beliefs.

(you can either be the pirates or the 'good guys')

Use my bio as a template.

Name:Captain George Welt. (also known as Captain Red)

Allegiance: Pirate
Weapons: Two pistols and a cutlass.
Appearance: Long Ginger hair and a ginger beard. Short but well built and strong. a long scar runs down his left cheek
Personality:Very quick to anger. Enjoys his mens company.
Bio: Lived a life of relative comfort in England but got fed up of an easy life and left to see the world. Was kidnapped and forced to work as a pirate for anotehr captain, finding he enjoyed teh life of plundering he stuck with it. He moved up the Ranks and led a mutiny against the captain and came into the captinacy of The Black Raven
Man:George look at this.
George: look at what?

Name:Tara (Tar-u)
Ship: Not one yet, seems to be tossed around
Age: 21
Allegiance: Pirate, hates everyone else
Weapons: A small knife and a whip
Appearance: Long flowing black hair always pulled in two braids, sharp green eyes, dark tan skin
Personality:Rather men over women any day, loyal to friends though she doesn't have very many, kills any man that tries anything with her she doesn't approve of.
Bio: She had lived with her parents until she was ten, there had been a raid on her native land and she was taken captive by the english. She was to be taken to England to be come a 'lady' but along teh way the ship was attacked and she was yet again captured. SHe learned fast that if she didn't defend herself not many would. It seemed that every boat attack she was captured yet again for the captian on the ships thought it best to have her tied during the fights leading to her not beingable to protect herself. She wanted to one day stay on a ship with men that respected her for who she was.

Name: Jacqueline DeMortel (Jacquie for short)

Age: 19

Ship: She's in the market, as it were. ;)

Allegiance: Pirates, although she's willing to spy and betray if paid the right price.

Weapons: Dagger, pistol, cutlass. Owns a whip, but generally doesn't use it as she's quite clumsy with it.

Appearance: Long, red hair usually tied back in a braid; blue-gray eyes to match the sea; generally wears a loose gold blouse and two skirts: a long black skirt with a shorter, ragged brown skirt layered on top of it; she also wears long, black boots. Wears a scarf on her head and occasionally wears a brown tricorn, when she finds herself in charge or wants to make a good impression.

Personality: Cheerful and bright, but fierce and determined. She won't let the same man cross her twice, but she laughs easily and is a loyal friend. She generally tells the truth, but she knows how to bend the facts to favor her fortunes. She likes to believe that the present day is the only day that matters, and the past does not exist. Occasionally she may get into a funk, which generally lasts a night, but with a sip of rum and a few good tales she's back in action.

Biography: Born in the slums of England, she learned from a young age that she had to make her own fortune and fate. She only did what was necessary, never feeling guilty for her means of survival. This kept her spirits high, and she began to spend more time near the docks, getting to know the captains and merchants. She saw all the slights and tricks and learned them by heart. She made and broke alliances when it suited her, and a few of the captains agreed to teach her about life on the seas in return. Gradually, she earned a place on various ships and went along for their (usually mild) adventures. During a week of heavy storms, she realized how much she had fallen in love with the sea, and she did whatever she could to remain on a ship ever since. She has even served as captain on a few ships, taking over when the current captains proved incompetent or were unable to do their duty. She would be the captain of her own ship if she had enough funds to buy it, and she's currently saving up for such an investment.

Ah, but I be wantin' to join ye lads, that I do. If'n that be okay with you, that is. Unfortunately, I be otherwise occupied--there's treasure to be had, and thats for sure.

Just be sure to remember, that the seas you sail upon be mine, through and through, and there isn't a thing you can do about it. If'n you wanted to, that is.

You'll be hearin' my name soon enough; for I'll be a-coming, in the latter days.

Sincerely yours,

Oy, this sounds fun. Not to be roundabout or say as wot's been said before (notably by the Sinister some few posts there above), I'd like to join. But whether the wind blows that way or becalms me, well...who can say?

Wish I could. Anyhow, I'll be watching it if I'm not joining it. (Seems a bloody apt place for good swordplay... ^_^)

Name: Juliek Wytoricz

Ship: HMS Conqueror

Allegiance: King Billy...the third? Yes, I believe so.

Weapons: Hah, are you kidding? Mmm...a dagger. He's a ship's boy/ soon to be midshipman, so there's not much for him to carry that doesn't belong to someone else.

Appearance: Dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, pale skin somehow sunburned/tanned into submission. Average height, on the emaciated side.

Personality: Kind of quiet, withdrawn. Hey, I would be, too.

Biography: Born in Poland. His mother had exactly five pounds- enough for a year in school or a boat fare to England for her son. She picked England, and he worked there for a stablemaster, until he was kidnapped- or rather, Shanghaied- on the way back to the stables after escorting his master's niece and nephew to their home.

While a pirate storybook may be fun you have to remember what happened to the last two attempts. The first one died before the story had a chance to play out, the second one died before it even had a chance to begin. I'm not ashamed to admit that the first one was started by me. If this storybook is still active in the next few weeks I may consider joining in.

Hey now, be optimistic! We've got some pretty great writers joining these ranks; don't back out now! If you intend to join, then join, and no excuses or saving spots. :) This thread should be for character bios and the story itself, so if you have a comment, PM someone or create a discussion thread.

Name: Mr. Thomas Everard Aldgate Stelter

Age: Twenty-one

Ship: late of the HMS Conqueror

Weapons: Sabre; flintlock pistol

Allegiance: rather to himself, of late; to a hazy idea of country, king and family honour

Appearance: Darkish brown hair, sun-bleached and a bit ragged; fair skin with the wan colourlessness of white complexions tanned and faded pale again; grey-brown eyes, straight brow and a profile bordering on the aquiline - like washed-out aristocracy. Lean build and average height. His hands are the handsomest and cleanest thing about him, and he can't seem to keep them still to save his life.

Personality: Somewhat hapless. He has a head for 'book-learning' and the oddities of spoken and written word, something he may have picked up from his public school education. But altogether, he avoids deep-thinking, apt to be lost in any extended verbal-riposting too obscure or too personal and his character is blown by the winds of whimsy and chance. His family is a point that sticks. Religion gets to him; yet with whimsy, he has a streak reckless thoughtlessness. In short, he has the short-sightedness and unconscious honour of an English gentleman; and the hapless, good-humoured trust of youth.

Biography: Born to a poet and printer, a Mr. Stelter, in - of all places - London's West End. His mother was a lady with family, married very much beneath herself on sudden infatuation and spent most of Thomas's young life trying to patch things up with the aristocratic end of her relations while avoiding the stumbling, slipshod ways of her husband's half-mad mother. (It was a haphazard marriage, as might be expected - only exacerbated by his mother's being languidly Anglican and his father, Stelter, a half-Irish Papist with poetically drunken ideas on both literature and religion.) Being a stubborn woman and used to her own way, she got Thomas bundled off to school young and when he became rather a desultory scholar and a rather assiduous layabout and dandy - even inclined to duel - she got him into the Navy to straighten him out. (It was true, he was a deft hand with a fencing weapon; and won the two encounters he managed to make in his green youth. But it didn't make Mrs. Stelter feel any better about it.)

It was as good a way as any, and Thomas was a good enough boy in his own right. But the strict ways of the Navy were not for him. He was assigned as a junior lieutenant [?] to the HMS Conqueror; and there, not only did he chafe against giving and receiving orders, he became bored with the captain and what-it-was they were after all over the High Seas.

After a few months service, he impudently jumped ship, with a vague fancy as to freedom, new worlds, and an erroneously romantic image (from his father's influence) of freebooters.

---

(I hope that's all straight and historically near enough for comfort. ^_^ If not, by all means, point discrepancies out.)

*Someone had to start*

Tara watched the a deck boy mopping the deck as a few of the crew mocked him. He was obviously a captive from some raid as was herself. She frowned as the captain and his son walked over. She was tied to a pole. Nothing new to her to say the least. She had walked the plank a couple of times, how she had survived was unknown even by here. Something always happended, or she fought her way out. She had just been captured and to save her life she had called "polly, polly, polly." That had become the line that saved her life more then it endagered it.
"Ye jus gonna stand tere and stare or are
ye gonna say somth'n?" She asked a mocking smile coming to her face.
"Wretch, you don't talk to me like that." The captian said, He was probably a good englishmen gone bad by the way he talked. She felt like laughing in his face but kept from it. His son was grinning, what she would do to be able to wipe that grin off his face.
"I can talk to you however i want." She said mocking his accent. That made his face turn bright red. They hadn't taken her knives or the whip that was tied to herside, they probably didn't think she could do much with them, but she would be gone the first chance she got. This ship wasn't one she wanted to stay on for very long.

To Cpt. A. Collingwood

Locate Pirate Sloop 'Black Raven' in the waters of the Indies ... Sink, Burn or take her a Prize. If able, capture Pirates George Welt and Magdalena Zeph, wanted for heinous crimes against His Majesty's subjects.

It was, as always, a warm afternoon in the harbour of Antigua. The Conqueror was a frantic with movement. Captain Archie Collingwood escaped the sun underneath his tricorne and gazed at the sun-kissed buildings. A certain trepidation had reached him but he daren't show it. His orders were to break him away from the safety of the fleet and into pirate-filled waters. As a frigate commander, that was supposed to be his forte, but a nervousness overshadowed it. He turned round.

"Mr. Green?" Archie called to the aged Lieutenant forward on the quarterdeck. "Prepare to weigh anchor."

"Very good, sir," Lieutenant Green answered stiffly, and turned to the hands congregated on the deck. "Man the Capstan!" he shouted. Instantly sailors darted forward to positions on the large, wooden handles. "Topmen to make sail!" They scurried up the rigging.

"Let's go catch us some pirates, Mr. Green," Archie said with an unenthusiastic smile.

The men pushed hard at the capstan, winding up the anchor. As soon as it was done, the topsails dropped down and the wind caught in her sails immediately. Soon Conqueror was out of the bay and on the wide ocean. Archie exited the deck and retreated to his cabin, where he studied again and again the nautical maps of the area. He had never been to the Indies before and didn't want to make any mistakes.

"Stewart?" he called, while he pored over the details of the dangerous shoals.

A bearded man popped his head round the door.

"Get one of your lads to fetch me some tea," he ordered.

It was done quickly. A blonde-haired, small boy rushed in and placed his boiling cup on the Captain's table.

"Thank you," Archie murmured, hardly bothering to look upwards.

"Sir?"

Archie frowned. "Yes?" The boy was interrupting his concentration.

"Is it true what they say about the Black Raven, sir?"

"The Captain's cabin is not the place for idle chatter, m'boy. Now get away with you," Archie said angrily.

"Aye aye, sir, and sorry, sir," the boy breathed before scuttling off.

But the words stuck in Archie's mind long after. There were a lot of rumours about the ruthlessness of the Black Raven and her crew. And although his Lieutenants had smiled and laughed at the though of engaging a mere 20-gun sloop, Archie was fare more reserved about the prospect. George Welt, or Captain Red as he was known, was a fierce fighter. They vastly outnumbered and outgunned the pirate foe, but Archie knew in his heart that it was not simply a matter of numbers.
