"DAVE STOP!" Keri screamed at the top of her lungs. Dave threw on the breaks and Keri heared Derrik hit the back seat and she almost flew into her window. "Thanks goodness for seat belts" she muttered.

"What the heck is he doin!" Dave yelled at the other driver.

"Dave you ran a....." Derrik started.

"Shut up Derrik." Dave said calming down. "Are you two ok?" He asked, both nodded as the other drive jumped out of his bronco.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING?" He yelled.

Dave looked over to see a man screaming at him, he quickly checked Keri then Derrick. Both were okay. He looked around the van assessing the damage, shit this stuff costs a bomb and he broke it all at once. Better yet none of it was insured, heck the van wasn't even insured.

He quickly unfastened his belt still trying remember why he'd been driving so fast. As he climbed out it hit him. They'd been running. He quickly found Keri hand and clutched it as if it was his only life line she followed him out. Lastly Derrick he climbed out the back complaining, "Dave you fucking almost killed us all! Me especially for I was surrounded by the jenga towers of doom."

Dave looked round at the man who had his gun pointed at them. Dave stuck up his hands realizing just at that point he was still holding Keri's hand so pulling up hers. She looked at him blushing and let go of his. Dave made sure Derrick had followed in suit.

Abby sat in the car ignoring everyone else around her. She couldn't believe they had been speeding on the road, got pulled over by a cop, shot at the cup, with my gun, no less, then ran, and now they were speeding through a town with fucking zombies in it.

"shitshitshitshitshitshitshit," she whispered to herself. She wasn't making much sense, in her thoughts or aloud.

She looked out the window. Abby didn't really see anything, but that didn't mean something wasn't there.

"What the fuck is going on? Where are we going?" she talked really fast, to everyone. Abby just wanted an answer. Really, she felt like jumping out of the car and getting the hell out of her, but she figured she was better off with these people - even if none of them could remember her name.

The instant I recovered from the impact, I was out of the Bronco with my pistol drawn.

"You sonofaBITCH! What the fuck is wrong with you!" I wasn't sure who I was yelling at, but whoever it was was going to get a bullet to the brain.

Motherfuckin' goddamn sonofabitch thrashed Cameron's Bronco--gonna fuck you up your fucker.

I strode right up to the driver of the van, a tall, skinny asshole with spiked hair, and put my gun to his temple. My right hand shot out to grab him by the collar and pull him so we were nose to nose.

"What the FUCK were you thinking!"

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Don't shoot, damn it!" The guy looked scared, but not panicked.

"Fuck you! I'm gonna--"

"Kevin don't!" Joanna. I blinked. The gun was still pressed against the man's temple. I let my jaw unclench. I released the man's collar. Shoved him away.

"Who the fuck are you?" I asked, taking a step back but not lowering my pistol.

"Yeah, really, what the fuck is he doing?" Abby asked, half of her wanting to sit up and see what the guy was doing, and the other half wanting to hid in case he went even nuttier and started shooting at her.

The had just crashed into someone.

"Seriously, should I just leave and expect myself to be safer outside of the car?" She was fidgeting a bit, and looking to everyone else for an answer. "Because I think what-ever-the-hell that thing was from before isn't as bad as the shit this guy has done in the last...fifteen minutes. I'm freaking out here."

She stuck her head out the car door for a second and looked around. Other than Kev yelling at the guy, and the car, there wasn't much around.

"shit...shitshitshitshitshit." She closed the door and tried to ignore everything that was going on.

Mev rubbed his head as the sparks faded from his vision. He looked at his hand, glad he wasn't bleeding. There was a strange humming sound from the back seat, which he realized was Abby.

"Abby, chill. Are you alright?"

She looked at him through her fingers. "...yes."

Through the smashed windshield, Mev could see Kev and Joanna talking to a group of people. Kev looked pissed. Mev took it as a bad sign.

"What's wrong with your friend?" Abby sniffed.

"It's his brother's car they totaled."

"So?"

"Forget it. Adara?"

"Here," she said. Her voice was muffled; Mev hadn't noticed her before. She was in the back seat by the door, and some of the boxes had fallen onto her. Mev got out and opened the back seat door. He pulled the suitcases out of her way.

"Fuck, are you okay?"

"Um."

"You're bleeding!"

Blood was trickling down her neck from a cut on her scalp. Her brown hair was sticky with it, and there was more on her shoulder and side. She looked around, apparently just noticing it.

"Uh, okay!" Mev said loudly. "Abby, look in the glove box. See if there's a first aid kit."

"Shitshitshitshitshit-"

The lock on the glove box had broke during the crash. Mev pawed through it, finding what he needed: a little white box with the red cross on it. He dumped out the contents on the back seat. Band-Aids, scissors, some antiseptic ointment, aspirin, gauze pads, bandage tape... No guide book. Kev probably had it memorized.

"Okay. I- I read something about this. Head wounds bleed more than any other kind, but that doesn't mean anything. So we need to apply pressure or something."

Mev pressed a bandage to the cut on her scalp. Adara batted away his hand. "Mev, leave me alone. I'm fine."

She didn't look fine. The bandage was already soaking wet with blood.

Katalyn

"What are we going to do?" Mike asked.
"We could try and speak with the people up there," I suggested doubtfully and then more shots rang through the air and I turned, just in time to see another ordinary man fall to the ground, his corpse already spluttering vermillion blood. Louis began to chuckle.
"What the hell is going on?" He demanded, laughing uncontrollably at the carnage around him.
"What's wrong with you? This isn't funny. There are people out there," Mike flinched away from him and the laughter stopped abruptly.
"I'm sorry. I don't feel too good."
"Well at least you're conscious again. That's always a good sign," I replied, smiling encouragingly.

I didn’t feel anything, but when I saw Mev’s shaking hands and the bandage in them covered in blood I tried to stay as calm as possible.

“What did you do!” I yelled. I knew he hadn’t done anything but right now it felt easier to yell and cast blame on someone. “Okay, sorry! Just gimme that! Thank you!” I took another bandage and applied it to my scalp putting all the pressure I could on it and then took it away when my fingers were wet three seconds later. “Holy shit!” I gasped and got another one beginning to calm down.

It still didn’t hurt…I was just getting dizzy. That couldn’t be good, right? Well, okay blood loss and dizziness was normal. I got another bandage and pressured it there, feeling a little better. I felt a little high and numb but I wouldn’t complain about something like that, not now at least.

“Mev, um, is there something in my head? Do I look like I need stitches?” I bit my bottom lip and bent my heads towards him. I’d probably reopened the damn gash I got when I was a child. That would be the best circumstance. I knew what to do about that.

“Uh, it’s open. I can see pink but I think that’s just skin.” I smiled just a little.

“Where is it?” He shifted a little.

“From the back of your ear and about three inches up.” He managed. I laughed and let out a sigh of relief. Okay, yes I’d reopened the gash. Abby eyed me like I was crazy and then hid her face again.

“Good. Uh, you wouldn’t happen to have a needle on you?” My eyes were clouding and even though I was trying to solve the issue as quietly as possible…that was a lot of blood and I…didn’t feel so well.

“I think I need to lie down.” I said as Mev searched through both the first aid kit and the glove box for a needle. “Tell me when you find one.” I said dryly. The next thing I knew I was asleep and having exclusive dreams of Orlando Bloom.
I love, love.

"The name's Dave--this is Keri and--"

"Fascinating. Good to know the name of the motherfucker that thrashed my fucking car," I snapped. I finally dropped my arm to my side, taking my finger off the trigger.

I turned away from them, anxiously tapping the barrel of the pistol against my thigh. I took a deep breath to clear my head.

"Look--what the fuck are you doin' driving that fast in the first place? Fuckin' morons."

"I told you, I'm sorry--"

"Sorry doesn't bring back my fuckin' truck, ass."

"Hey man, I don't mean to interrupt, but we can't stay here. Company's comin'." A third person had emerged from the van and was walked forward to stand next to "Dave."

"Then you better get the fuck moving, shouldn't you?" I growled.

"Well--I thought maybe we could--"

"We? No, fuck that. We aren't doing anything." For a moment I felt the anger flare up again, but then it was gone. Under control.

Then Joanna was at my side.

"Kevin...I think it would be best if we traveled in numbers...especially since, well, your truck--"

"The truck THEY totaled."

"--Yes, the truck, they totaled--It happened, Kevin. There's nothing to be done now, and besides, it was just--"

I didn't let her finish.

"No. Don't say it. You don't know shit Joanna. Don't fucking go there."

Just...just leave me alone. Leave me fucking be. Cameron, I need you man. I fuckin'...I'm so sorry.

I brought the gun up again and tapped the barrel against my own temple anxiously.

"Do what you want. I'm gone."

I turned my back on them all and walked away, toward the horde of moaning, shambling things that was slowly amassing.
Got YWS? I do.

Abby lunged toward the window to get a better view. "Fuck... You know he's walking off, don't you?" She looked at Mev, and the bleeding chick. "He's leaving. He's just walking away. He put the gun to his head too and he's just walking toward those thing and he's leaving."

She fidget around and scared shitless. "Okay, I don't know you, you don't know me but what the fuck is he doing? And what the fuck is going on? Because I really do not feeling like being in a car with those things outside of it and the guy with the gun walking towards them."

She looked back at the bleeding girl again and tried to calm down and seem normal. "Er, are you okay?" Abby asked. "Because blood is going everywhere and...you don't look okay."

"I'm fine," she said, just like before.

"Well, I'm very, very glad you are," Abby pushed her hair from her face, unable to keep her hands still, "Because I feel like the world is ending."

Dave stood there watching the man known as Kev walk away. He let out an angry sigh. Sheesh the man had given him no chance to explain. Like this was even a normal day. He went round to inspect the bag of his van, seeing over five thousands dollar worth of hardware and software fucked. This really wasn't a great day, Keri came over and whispered in his ear, "Dave, it could be worse."

He sighed and nodded, pinching himself on slight chance that all this was a nightmare. Nothing. Dave sighed and saw chaos, he shouldn't of been driving so fast, but god that noise after Keri bust Derrick nose was inhuman. He walked over to try and explain it to someone who he's sure wouldn't try blow off his head.

She turned to him and he smiled weakly, "I'm really sorry about totalling your ride, it was just we were at The Fray or stopped there and a little disagreement involving a bleeding nose made those things try break down the door. I was terrified. No one hurt, is there?"

"I don't think it's any of your business."

Dave sighed and considered giving up, then decided he needed to be on good terms with these people. "Look... I'm only seeing what damage has been committed. I'm taking responsibility for it all I was driving way too fast and I need to know is anyone hurt?"

She shrugged and replied dryly, "Not badly--not yet, at least."

Dave smiled a sense of relief going through his body, "I'm Dave, you probably heard, but this is in case you didn't. One question will Kev ever forgive Keri, Derrick and me?"

"Kevin. Doubt if he'll ever let you call him Kev."

Dave nodded and decided it was enough. He went back to Keri, a confused but forlorn expression on her face. Dave found her hand and gripped it, squeezing lightly. She turned to him smiling and whispered, "What now?"

Joanna gave a disgusted glance at the other group and quickly ran after Kevin. Fuck, I SO do not need this right now!

"Kevin! Kevin, get your fucking ass back here!" Her voice strained with the screaming, cracking and wavering. She stopped short as he neared the closest group of zombies and opened his arms, as if to offer himself willingly to them. Eyes wide, she couldn't even catch her breath to scream anymore.

Then, as the nearest creature lunged for him, he quickly brought his gun to the front and fired a shot into its head.

"Die, you motherfuckers!" he yelled, firing two more shots.

Regaining awareness of her position, Jo ran the rest of the distance to his side. "Kevin, please, come back," she pleaded, grabbing his arm and keeping a wary eye on the quickly-enclosing monsters.

He shook her off, startled. "Jesus, bitch, you don't just grab someone when they're shooting!" He ran a hand through his hair anxiously, keeping his gun focused on the nearest group with his other hand.

"Kevin." Joanna took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to reason with the unreasonable. "Kevin, please. I want you to come back." She touched him lightly on the arm, looking at his face. He didn't meet her gaze.

"Joanna, just go back. You don't understand --"

"I know I don't understand, Kevin. I know that. But I need you to come back with us." She took a risk and gently grabbed his gun hand, forcing him to look at her. "Please. You won't do any good here by yourself. Please come back."

After what seemed an eternity of her staring at him, using all her willpower to not look toward the noises nearing them, he nodded, ever so imperceptibly.

Kevin lowered his gun and ran his hand through his hair again. "Yeah... yeah, okay."

Jo smiled at him, and they both made their way back to the accident. "Don't mess with him," she hissed as she passed the other group.

She hid her trembling with a hand on her hip and another guiding Kevin.

(OOC: Need to speak to Dono about his character. I may edit this accordingly.)

Dave should never have been driving that fast.

He rubbed his eyes and tried to clear away the bright image of the Bronco’s headlights that haunted his mind. The squealing breaks and sound of the van crumpling played again, over and over, becoming progressively fainter but never entirely disappearing. Just like torture.

Angry voices drifted through the half open van door to him. Dave’s was not one of them. Now that was interesting.

He pushed the door to get out but buckled metal blocked it from moving any further. Sighing, Derrik squeezed himself through the gap and slid out into the open. He’d expected the air to be a bit cleaner outside, but it appeared to be just the opposite. Smoke billowed through the grate at the front of the van and gave the air an acidic taste. Not particularly nice.

Rubbing his shoulder where the seatbelt had caught him, Derrik walked towards the man who was pointing a gun at Dave and Keri. As he saw Derrik, he seemed to relax and his arm dropped to his side.

“Hey man, I don't mean to interrupt, but we can't stay here. Company's comin’.” Derrik broke the awkward silence but the Bronco’s driver wasn’t quite ready to calm down.

“Then you better get the fuck moving, shouldn't you?” he growled through gritted teeth. Dave would have known better but Derrik tried again.

“Well--I thought maybe we could--”

The response was explosive.

“We? No, fuck that. We aren't doing anything.”

For a moment Derrik saw something flare up in the man. It was a dark fire that burnt throughout his entire body. It consumed him and his body language changed completely. He couldn’t control his aggression.

That was not good.

“Kevin…” A woman moved next to him and spoke carefully. As suddenly as the anger had appeared, it was banished. Banished by her voice.

“Kevin,” she repeated, her presence changed things completely, “I think it would be best if we travelled in numbers...especially since, well, your truck--”

”The truck THEY totaled.” Derrik gulped. He realised that Kevin may never forgive them for what Dave had done. That was just not fair.

“--Yes, the truck, they totaled--It happened, Kevin. There's nothing to be done now, and besides, it was just--”
“No. Don't say it. You don't know shit Joanna. Don't fucking go there.” And now Derrik had a name to match her face.

The haunted look came back into his eyes and the anger threatened to break out again. Derrik could see Kevin was struggling with something, something very deep. Something that he didn’t know if he could beat.

Then he brought the gun up again and tapped it against his temple. Derrik felt his blood turn to ice. This was a man on the brink.

And then he spoke.

“Do what you want. I’m gone.” He strode away towards a mass of the creatures. The zombies. Strangely, Derrik felt an urge to go with him. They’d stand and fight together. Maybe die together.

No.

Derrik’s common sense spoke up. Like hell would Kevin let him help! Let one of the guys who’d trashed his ride help him? Fuck no.

“Shit,” Joanna, who had been blankly watching Kevin abandon them, turned and ran after him. She would be ok.

Derrik turned and looked at the two wrecks. Dave and Keri needed him. Turning his back on Kevin and Joanna, Derrik sighed.

As we passed by the three bastards that ruined Cameron's Bronco, I shouldered past "Dave" and made eye contact as we collided.

Don't fuck with me, asshole.

When I reached the remains of the Bronco I peered into the back seat.

"Adara, you alive?" I asked.

She nodded, still holding the bloody rag to her head. "Yeah, I'm ok."

"Mev?"

"Yeah, I'm chill. Adara's hurt man."

"Thanks, Captain Obvious. How bad?" I asked.

"Do I look like a fucking doctor to you?" he snapped.

I ignored him. "We're moving. Grab food and water, nothing else. Mev, me n' you are going to be carrying."

"Carrying?"

"Guns. Anything that comes close, we shoot the fuckers. JojoBean, new kid, and Adara, you're our eyes. We move as a pack, fight as a pack."

"What about them?" Joanna let a hand fall on my shoulder as she spoke.

I turned to the three fuckers. They were all watching us. "Dave" had his arm around the woman.

"Fuck 'em," I growled. "Get your shit. We move in five."

I went to the back of the Bronco and pulled the three gun cases out. Holstering my XD, I opened up the box carrying my Ruger Mini-14 and loaded it with a ten round box magazine.

"What's that?" Jo asked. Apparently she'd followed me around. Before I could prepare a snide remark, she said: "Besides a gun, ass. I mean, what kind?"

I smiled as I slung the Mini-14 over my shoulder.

"Ruger Mini-14 Semi-Automatic rifle. Fires a military developed 5.56 milimeter round or the civilian Remington .223 caliber round. It's a loud sonofabitch, but it gets the job done nicely. I added a few nifty tweaks to it--Picattiny rails, an Eotech dot sight, muzzle rise compensator. Fun stuff."

I expected a blank stare, like I usually got from people when I told them about my guns, but instead found her looking rather attentively at me, still listening.

"How does it work?" she asked. "I mean...how do you fire it, not the actual action."

I laughed a little and opened the next case, carrying my Remington 870 Express. Hefting the nasty little 12 gauge, I began to load it with the box of shells that sat beside it in the foam filled box.

"What? Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean--"

"Look. If you haven't been around a gun before, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to handle any of these guns that I have here. Maybe once we get to some relative safety I'll teach you, but not right now."

She blushed slightly.

"I may be an ass...but I'm not a sexist one."

I finished loading the shotgun, set the box of shells beside it, and shoved the empty box aside in favor of the third one.
Got YWS? I do.

Louis got bit at 8:30am so he has until 2:30pm, right?

Katalyn 1:00pm

"Let's try going a little closer," I decided, easing the car forward.

"Do not come any closer!" A loud voice boomed. "All approaching vehicles and people will be destroyed."

"Stop the car Kat!" Mike demanded.

"They'll not shoot us. We're clearly not zombies," I protested.

"Stop the damn car now!" With a sigh, I pulled up again and turned to face my two passengers.

"Okay, find something white and we'll make a flag. They can't mistake us for zombies then, right?" I suggested, replacing the hand break and rummaging through the rucksack on the seat behind me.
