yup, it's a stupid riddle, but no one seems to be able to figure it out.
I have another one. Ok, there's three lightswitches next to a closet. You have to figure out wich light switch turns on the light in the closet, but you can't flick on any of the light switches while the closet door open, or have any of the light switched switched to 'on' when you open the door. There is no crack where light can get out. Only one of the light switches works, the other two don't work at all. This had nothing to do with wiring. So how do you figure out which light switch turns on the light in the closet?

Turn one on for a few minutes, then turn it off, go in, and feel the lightbulb. If it's warm, you found it. If not, repeat the process until you find it.

That's really kind of a pointless lightswitch then. If you can't have it on while you open the door or while the door is open how are you supposed to go in there and have the light on?
But, anyway. About the riddle - I think niteowl is right.

Long and slim makes me think of a pencil. The one eye would be the led. You can write well only in light, unless you have good nightvision. And, it's point can hurt. So, I guess pencil.
