A soft sound of footsteps came behind them, and they turned around.
A small teenage girl who resembled a ghost - pale face and hair- was walking by, watching the clouds, too. She jumped when she saw them looking at her, and stared at her feet.
She didn't look familiar- she had to be new.

Taya looked at the girl, taking in her quiet behavior.

"Hey," she said, she could tell that the girl was shy and nervous, "who are you?"

"And let A = C2 and the square root of 982834 to the factor of X will blahblahblahblahblahblah...."

Paytah sat in class with absolutely no idea what the teacher was talking about and no desire to figure it out. Her charcoal eyes were pointed out the window at the clear blue skies rolling over the grass hills in the not-too-far distance. Her elbow was placed on her desk, stretched all the way to the other side to let her cheek rest lazily on the palm of her hand. It was a bad idea to sit Paytah near a window. In the background the teacher continued rambling on, sounding more and more like the teacher on Peanuts as Paytah's eyelids began to fall heavily.

As Paytah awoke, she was no longer in her desk in the classroom, but instead resting on a cloud. She sat up, assuming she was still asleep and nodding in approval of her surroundings, "This is definitely the best daydream ever." She chuckled to herself just a little, grabbing a piece of the cloud and throwing it into the air, letting it float down like the seed of a dandelion.

She blanched.
"L-lynn," she murmured, her voice sounding like a bird's.

"What are your powers?" asked Taya with great interest. Lynn looked up at her through a light veil of pale hair and vanished. Taya blinked several times. Lynn reappeared next to the wall and put her arm in it, forearm sinking into the wall as if it were not there.

"Can you say anything besides your name?" asked Sarah blatantly.

A glimmer of shy mirth appeared in Lynn's eyes and she said, in the same voice, "no."

"The name's Sarah and this is Taya," Sarah intruduced, budding in a smile. "Sorry if we scared you."

The girl was very sheepish but edged her way out into the light of the balcony. It wasn't until then that she realized how radiant the two looked. He curiosity got the best of her.

"Do I look, strange to you?"

Lynn looked slightly confused and didn't answer. Taya was amused by the girl's silence, but it was something about her eyes that disturbed Taya. She had seen neglect and she had been tossed out of the social circle. She had had a worse time with her powers than Taya had, and Taya now began to question just how bad her life had been compared to the others.

"Well come on tell me. There aren't any mirrors around here so I'd like to know how I look."

There was indeed a magnificent presisence about all three girls as if they were glowing with something powerful. But Sara didn't know and she wondered what the girls thought of her. A breeze stirred around her.

Taya glanced at Sara, and noticed something. The faint golden light surrounding her.

"You're glowing." Taya said. She saw that Lynn was too.

"Are you sure?"

"You both are." Lynn said quietly.

"We all are." Taya determined. "What do you think it is?"

"One of us is reigning supreme and the others are basking in the glow of power," drawled Sarah, holding up her hand to examine the glow.

Lynn faded, and where her figure would have been, light poured forth.

"That's pretty neat," said Taya, as Lynn came back. "I hope we don't keep glowing."

"Do you guys feel all...tingly?" asked Sarah, waving her hand slightly.

Lynn and Taya nodded.

"Its so amazing. I love it." She consentrated and a breeze swept through the balcony tossing her and everyone elses hair around her. The sounds of their laughter reverberated around them and throughout the halls outside.

The others joined her, Lynn fading in and out while Taya let trickles of water float around, glittering in the light.

Taya felt free. She could use her powers in the open and with friends like herself. Nobody punished her for who she was, but one thing tugged at her mind.

"Why do you think we have these powers, and why are we here?" Taya turned and gazed over the glistening clouds.

"It depends on whether you believe in destiny or free will or fate or whatever," said Sarah thoughtfully.

"Nobody is without a purpose," said Lynn quietly, resting her arms on the railing and gazing at a star that shone in the east.

"Let's not get all philosophical," suggested Sarah. "We're wherever we are, so let's enjoy it while we can!"

ooc: I'm pretty sure I'm just too lazy to get my character from the dorms to wherever it is you all are without being grossly simple about it.
