Sara shot awake, launching herself so far forward she almost hit the dash board. The dream was so vivid, so real. She had half a mind to go break Peter's neck. She knew she had to get Alexx away from him as soon as she could.
"Sara are you okay?"
Sara paused and shook the bad dream out of her head, "yeah I'm fine but we've gotta go talk to Peter or something."
"Why?"
"Because I think somethings going to happen with him, but I don't know when. We may have to get Alexx out of there like soon."
"What about your boss?"
"We can go talk to him later, but if we don't do something soon there may not be a later."
"OK then." Greg did a majorly illegal u-turn (they were on a one way road.) and sped back towards Peter's house. "Sara, what the hell is going on?"
"Peter's going to go psycho or something like that. Maybe possessed, but he's going to kill like an entire mall full of people!"
"Like what those dudes tried to do in Odd Thomas?"
"Worse, he's not going to be shooting people, he's going to start blowing people up and throwing them everywhere and... really bad!" She couldn't bring herself to say how she had seen Peter lift a random guy off of the ground and snaps his back without even touching him. She shuddered at the memory.
"Alright then should we just go get Alexx out there right away or what?"
"No, we'll talk to Peter first."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Sara pulled the dagger out of her boot. "Doesn't matter, if it comes to it... we'll kill him."
"Okay." Greg skidded to a halt in front of Peter's house. Calmly Sara and Greg walked up to the front porch. Sara turned the door handle and it jammed. It was locked. Sara sighed and kicked the door open. The old lock gave way quite easily to her kick.
"Sara, you really should stop doing stuff like that!" Greg said annoyed.
Sara shrugged as she walked into the house. Greg groaned and walked in after her. He was tempted to grab her arm and walk her out but how easily she could physically injure him stopped him.
Sara was small but she was still stronger than Greg. Whatever that vampire did to her made her stronger than any guy either of them had ever met.
Greg sat down on the couch and Sara plopped down next to him. Peter's couch felt a lot like the couch that Greg had in collage. Sara felt safe there. In her profession she could never feel safe anywheres. She had seen murder attempts in the strangest places.
Greg put his arm around Sara and she leaned against him.
"Sara, can I ask you a question?"
"Duh."
"Do you promise that you wont get mad and run out?"
"Depends."
Greg sighed, he'd take his chances; "Sara why did you run out so long ago?"
Sara mused for a second, "I don't remember... I think I was just...Well, I felt like I was damsel in distress; even back then that was something that I couldn't handle. But its good to feel protected every once in a while."
A wave of weariness swept over them and they fell asleep. Strangely Sara didn't dream in her sleep, but Greg did.
Greg dreamed of a chaotic street, even though nobody was running the streets were littered with bodies. Only two still stood. One was in extreme pain and the other was causing the pain.
He saw Sara wither in pain and Peter laughing manically. Greg woke with a start launching himself forward. He grabbed onto Sara so she wouldn't fall and leaned back.
He closed his eyes and tried to remember who was on the street. No where was he or Alexx. If Peter was going to go totally mass murderous on someplace he wouldn't bring Alexx. But he wondered where he was, he wouldn't just be standing there. That concerned him.
